1. There's an ad in the items wanted section, Stealth is looking for one of these.
2. If you're in no rush to decide, stick the 55 in it's case and put it under the bed for a few weeks to see how much you miss it. Then get it back out and do the same with the 64, whichever one you've missed the most stays!
3.
There's your problem!
Ain't that the truth!! :-)
4.
Only just spotted this - I have to say that in all honesty every manufacturer that I've contacted about damaged or worn handles has sent me free replacements. Euphonic, SWR, Aguilar and Eden from what I remember
You mean other amp manufacturer's handles break?? Surely not!
5. Did a gig in Weston Super Mare on a friday night on August bank holiday weekend years ago, which is also my birthday. We'd all taken the day off so headed down early to allow for traffic. So we end up in Weston, hot sunny day, bank holiday weekend, my birthday and with about 5 hours to kill. Oh go on then we'll just have one or two, but about 5pm approx 15 of our mates arrive who know it's my birthday, fast forward to 8pm and I am absolutely cattled, they kept buying something called Mad Dog. I can barely stand by the time we start, end up playing the whole gig(badly) with the backs of my legs pressed against the 2 kick drums for a bit of stability, much to the amusement of our friends. Dropped my bass twice, trying to put it on. Finish gig, get chucked in van, journey back to bristol with 5 other people in the back of a transit all smoking weed which just about finishes me off! Get to my street, tell them "just drop me on the corner". Next thing I know, it's 7am, I'm face down in my front garden with my legs stuck in the hedges and my girlfriend stood over me, laughing, saying "I'm going to work, try not to be sick in the bedroom"! Oh to be 20 again!
6. Genuinely gutted about this, I'm sure JB was a huge influence on many of us here. Rest in peace sir, you absolute legend!
7.
I've not had any issue with mine in over 100 gigs. It feels flimsy and not very secure but it's never come open.
Yes perhaps flimsy wasn't the right word, what I mean is it always looks like the battery compartment door isn't quite shut properly, but as you say, it hasn't actually come open.
8. I've recently started using a G30 and so far so good, the battery door on the transmitter does feel a bit flimsy but I put mine in a Levys holder which is pretty snug so it can't open anyway. To be honest though,if I was buying right now i'd be all over the Sony unit that Russ posted the link to, especially at that price!
9. We did Little Monster for the first time on Saturday. Smallish local gig and wasn't expecting many of them to know any Royal Blood tracks but thought we'd give it a road test. Went surprisingly well, noticed a few of the younger crowd singing along to the chorus which was cool. Good fun song to play too. We did it in drop D and as a 4 piece too.
10. You've started something now, I keep looking at the PS Thumb's on the Thomann site!
11. If you're ever in Bristol I've got a Streamer LX and a Spector NS2000 you're welcome to try out. Got a RH750, an ABM500 and BF Big Twin 2 always at the house, or just being your own amp/cab.
12. My '09 Streamer LX4 has got probably the slimmest neck I've ever played so you're probably best avoiding those.
13. 5 for me: MM Bongo 4HS Stealth MM Stingray Warwick Streamer LX4 Spector NS2000/4 OLP MM2 Still got gas for a USA P, a Jazz, Streamer Stage 1, Thumb NT and a PDN Bongo in Neptune blue and maple!
14. Both of those isolated tracks are different to the version I've got on a Quadrophenia soundtrack!
15.
Now's as good a time than ever to buy one on here . Cheaper than I've ever seem them
Agreed! That's why I recently gave in to it, do it do it do it!!
16. If you've played and liked a Hartke HA series amp before, wouldn't it be worth buying the one in the for sale section here and just jumping on a train/coach to collect it. You'd still be within budget and have an amp which you know you like. Just a thought. Good luck in your search man, it can be so frustrating when you settle on something and then they just don't appear to come up for sale.
17.
I was thinking of bringing Russ in as head of barefaced sales actually, lol
Haha On a commission only basis, so no sales, no wages, just to hear him have to praise them to his customers!
18.
Well most of bass chat for a start, lol, and anyone Scottish if they have been reading that thread
Ah you can have a special 'Ray section called 'one trick ponies' just for the non-believers, and even a Barefaced section just for Russ! :-D
19.
Ah well I'm quite chuffed with that then, maybe I should start offering pro set ups
Do it! Get yourself a little shop, I mean who wouldn't wanna visit a shop called Stingray Pete's??
20.
I like my own set up and did one for a bass ern500evo had off Ebay but I bet it wasn't exactly how you like it was it Lee?
Well I haven't felt the need to change anything and it plays lovely, so either I'm easily pleased or you got it spot on Pete!!
21. Look up a series of videos on YouTube by John Carruthers, I think they're on Elixir strings channel, he takes you through the basics. After some persuasion from the good folks here on BC I had my first go at it, with the JC video playing on my iPad while I did it, it's very satisfying! Last one I had done professionally was awful, took it to the same guy I've used many times, not sure if he was having an off day because he's usually very good. I didn't have time to check it when I picked it up and as he'd done plenty of stuff for me before, I didn't think there was any need, but when I got it home and played it, it was a buzzing mess. That sort of convinced me I had to learn how to do it and give it a go.
22.
They were called 133 which I think was part of the EBMM manufacture code. Basically a red, white or blue Stingray with a gig bag for £999 (when they first marketed them) - Stings and Things celebrating 50 years working with Ernie Ball company in the UK IIRC. I don't recall them having a different body wood - all Stingray and Sterling variants have been ash at least since the USA Subs ceased in about 2005 - except one or two specific limited edition runs with mahogany bodies.
They had poplar bodies, I've got one,a blue pearl and maple fretboard 2010 model. Before I bought it I sent the serial number to AJ at MM and he confirmed that it was part of a limited run they did for strings and things, poplar body, limited finish choice and gig bag instead of a hard case. The original owner of mine paid £1050 for it new.
23. I'm in 2 at the moment, rock covers band doing regular gigs, a blues/classic rock covers band which doesn't really take up a great deal of time as they don't gig very regularly, they just call me when they need me. About to embark on an originals project with our drummer and a guitarist friend of his who's been writing his own stuff which he described to me as bluesy/soul/funky/indie/rock type stuff so god knows what I'm getting into there. Drummer and myself were also planning on putting together a more function/party type band just to broaden our horizons and get some decent gigs, if that comes off I'll probably jack one of the cover bands.
24. I've never played a 3eq but I have recently acquired a 2eq and I've also got a Bongo which is 4 band. My experience so far is that in one of the bands I play, the 2 heavy handed guitarist's and their Marshall amps can sometimes make it difficult to find the perfect spot in the mix with the 2eq. What I've done for those situations is saved a tone setting in one the channels of my amp with a bit of bass cut and boosted hi and lo mids, . As I say, I haven't had it long so I'm still adjusting to it, so if I can't dial it in straight away I tend to just reach for the Bongo. However I used it to jam with some friends last week, just drums, cleanish guitar and keys and it sounded incredible, once you get it sat in the mix right it has a real authority to it's sound. I'm sure StingrayPete and drTStingray will be along soon and give you a far better explanation than mine, their knowledge of MM basses is top notch!
