1. i had been looking forward to this for months and it was a great show. Unfortunately I was sat so far back, I couldn’t see what bass Freddie was playing but it was a great bass sound and an excellent mix. Kick drum was right where it should be and vocal & brass harmonies all shone through. For the encore of Reelin’ in the Years, Elliot Randall came out to play his signature intro & solo, 34 years since they recorded it per Donald. A perfect ending to a special gig!
2. Mike bought a pedal from me in a smooth and quick transaction. A great guy to deal with!
3. Just bought a pedal train off Barry. It was a smooth and quick deal, highly recommended.
4. Dave bought my LS-2 in a smooth and quick deal. He's a top Basschatter.
5. This is in good condition, just a few tiny marks on the top edges. It's been a useful tool but I haven't done a doubling gig for some years now so time to pass this on. It covers a wide range of tasks and is much more than a A/B box - see the various Mode settings in the picture. It comes boxed and I'd like £55 posted within the EU. My feedback thread on here is: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/77960-feedback-for-ptb/?tab=comments#comment-750276
6. This pedal is in very good condition and comes boxed with all the documentation. It lived on my pedal board for around 3 months but I found I preferred another one so time to let this find a new home. Looking for £75 including postage in the EU. You can find my feedback thread here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/77960-feedback-for-ptb/?tab=comments#comment-750276
7. Adding my thanks to the organisers too, a very enjoyable day out & good to catchup with bass friends, old and new. I enjoyed Richard Searle’s playing ‘cos his style is so completely different to mine and quite an eye opener. I also fell for both Rob Allen basses, the Mouse and the 5 string. Such a sweet tone and so responsive to your touch. I was very impressed with Obbm’s Handbox amp too. Roll on next year’s bash!
8. I've enjoyed reading through these. I'll share one of mine with you. There was a singer, about 15 years older than the rest of us, who came to audition for our pub r'n'b band around 2001. He clearly couldn't pitch a note - he was as flat as a pancake - and by the end of verse 1, we were all rolling our eyes and trying hold back the sniggering. We moved into the chorus and at the end of it, he went for the final high note throwing his head forwards. With that, his teeth flew out across the room, hit the floor and slid under the drum kit. He looked aghast and shouted "Guitar solo!" and dived down between the kick drum and floor tom. Eventually, he shuffled backwards, stood up and held his false choppers up to the light. He blew the filth and fag ash off them and popped them back in. He was just about to sing the next verse when he realised we were all rolling around in hysterics........... A week later, he e-mailed us and asked for feedback on his efforts.

Nick's Feedback

Just bought some Lakland flats off nick. Good comms and a fine Basschatter.
14.
Define "heavy" and actually no. . . . not all bases are heavy. Mine aren't and you don't need a heavy bass to get a good sound. You've highlighted the problem. Get a lighter bass.
I've just acquired a Marusczyk PJ5 with a chambered body and it feels so much lighter than my Sadowsky, I can play it for much longer before the aches & pains arrive. I agree with Chris B - try a lighter bass.
15. Quote "I wonder did anyone else do Lawrence Canty's short course 'Reading For Bass Clef' at Goldsmith's College back in the early 90's?" I did it in '90 or '91. How I wish now I'd paid more attention & practiced! Still, another guy on the course made me a Les Paul shaped electric mandolin which my wife still has. That's unfortunately the most tangible benefit I got from it 🙁
16. Paul bought a Jazz Bass off me in a very easy textbook deal. Deal with him in confidence!
17. I’m having a bit of a bass reshuffle right now so this one is up for sale as I have 2 other great Jazz Basses and this is just not getting used. It’s a Japanese Fender Jazz Bass, a CIJ “62 reissue in Daphne Blue. I bought it from Clarky on this very site in 2013. He told me that he’d checked the s/n and it dates from 1997-8. The bass is in very good condition for its age. There’s one blemish, a dent in the side of the bass that faces upwards when you’re playing the bass but my right arm always hid it from my view. There's a photo of this below. The bass weighs 9lbs 4oz using the “with and without” method on my bathroom scales. The bass is strung with D”Addario Chromes that have plenty of life in them. I’m looking for £600 plus shipping, if needed. Collection from Croydon or a near-by meet-up are welcome too
18. A textbook transaction with Victor. The communications were quick and clear and frequent. The item was exactly as described. Highly recommended and a fine Basschatter!
19. That's too much for me! My old bass teacher had a 4 string bass where the neck was fretless after the 7th fret. Never seen another like it.
20. I said hello to Ped, Bluejay & Mark from Bass Direct, I think I saw Lozz in the distance (Hi Lozz - the Barefaced is still going strong!). The Scott Divine workshop was great, very enjoyable. As for most of the rest, I found it a bit meh to be honest. Lots of unusual basses in shapes that didn't appeal to me, lots of noise and no obvious bargains apart from some string offers so I came home with nothing. I'll still be back next year though. The show is a good thing overall and I do want to support it. I think this year just wasn't for me.
