Hard to tell but some players use different strings for G and D from the E and A. One variant is to use Spirocore for the E and A and gut or similar for the higher two. This obviously doesn't make your search any easier! Someone will be along with more insight I'm sure but you could have a look at Gollihur's website and see if you can see something that sounds like a match.

I like mine a lot. It's better with the matching NY 1 x 12 extension cab for bigger gigs. Some folk don't like the tweeter which is fixed on the combo but adjustable on the cab. There's a thread on here about it but it's never bothered me.

For a slightly different flavour, try Hollywood Fats, John Nemeth, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Also look in the Basschat gig section and see if there's anything bluesy and local.

I had the same experience with a passive AB1. It felt great, the fanned frets are easy to get used to but it just sounded meh. Not bad, just uninspiring and "cold". My solution was to move it on and move on.

I had a Peavey TNT150 and it was ok. Only problem was it had one handle at the top & no casters. My poor shins..........

You probably can't get an 11 band rack mount graphic eq. That doesn't mean that a 31 band is the right tool for the job. The Guys are right - it's a lot easier to screw things up with this much power unless you are an expert sound tech IMHO. That's why very few of us bassists use them.

According to an interview I read in Bass Player, Nathan Watts, Stevie's long time bassist, tunes his whole bass down a semi tone. Personally, I would use a 5 to get round that issue but I appreciate that may not be an option for you.

I get your drift but given the lack of choice, I think it would be too much of a compromise for me. I'd rather have stuff I liked and a few extra cables personally. YMMV of course.

I use a Markbass LM II. I'm happy with it across a variety of basses from passive Fender Jazz to my MTD. I've had other amps but that was before I got my Super 12T. I do fancy trying an Aguilar or a Demeter with it one day. What sort of sound are you after?
