  1. I bought this bass on here last year with a project in mind.......we'd been recording over lockdown and I felt sure gigs would follow and this would be perfect for it. Of course, they didn't and my Stingray and P bass are now all I need. Time to let this go to a new home. For those who don't know, this is an update of the Goya Panther bass that Abraham Laboriel started out on https://bassmagazine.com/artists/abraham-laboriel-the-soundtrack-of-our-lives History: Inspired by Juan Alderete, reimagined by Carey Nordstrand, the Acinonyx (genus for Cheetah) is a well thought out, modern reinterpretation of the Goya Panther. Carey sorted out the design flaws of the Goya with the problem solving prowess for which he is known. String pull, switch assignments sorted out, Carey developed this bass with ease of tone selection and overall playability in mind, but the ultimate goal is for the bass to be as fun to play as driving a race car. A short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches. Tone choices are available with a push of a button. Go “All In” by punching all of the buttons at once, which puts the pickups in series mode resulting in a a loud, thick, and punchy tone. The 1 over 3 headstock may seem unusual, but it provides straight string pull while honouring the original aesthetic of the Goya Panther. The bass comes with a special mute designed for this bass and a Gator short-scale gig bag. Both the bass and the bag are almost as new - I can't see any flaws on the bass at all. Collection or a meet-up preferred or shipping at your expense if you wish. Here's the facts & figures: •780mm scale (about 30.7”) •17mm spacing at bridge •1.4” wide nut •Alder body with Indian Rosewood fingerboard •Parchment and Tortoise pick guard options •2 propriety single coil chrome cover pickups •4 push button pickup selector switches (including “all in” series mode) •4 tone selections including flat, traditional tone roll off, heavy tone roll of, and mid notch •Very light weight - averaging 6.5 pounds •2 way spoke wheel truss rod •Compound radius for excellent playability •Proprietary custom US Hipshot bridge •Proprietary custom licensed Hipshot oval tuning machines •All basses are inspected and set up in Nordstrand's Redlands, CA shop Here's my feedback:
  2. Yes…..stay tuned for the next exciting installment……coming soon!
  3. Hi Donslow, very happy to hear that & pass the baton. Please PM me to arrange the logistics. Happy to be flexible.
  4. Seeing as you have half the name, I guess it’s £7.50. 😉
  5. That'll be £20 then! 🙂
  6. I acquired this case in a recent bass purchase here on BC and I don't have room for it. It's an old tweed case, no brand name, with Jeff Duncan's name on one side and on the inside of the lid of the internal storage. The locks seem to work OK but I don't have any keys for it. The outside is "road worn", to put it politely, but the inside is ok. If you are called Jeff Duncan and can prove it, you can have this for £10. For anyone else, it's £5. 🙂 Collection from South Croydon preferred.
  7. Sadowsky Neo strap. Very comfortable and stretchy and in good condition. At its shortest, it's 122cm; at its longest, it's 162cm. I'd like £25 including postage to a UK mainland address.
  8. A new and unused D'Addario leather strap. I bought this new in June from Bass Direct. It's 136 cm or 4" 5.5" long as shown in the photo but can obviously be adjusted either way. £10 incl postage to a UK mainland address.
  9. Brand new & unopened Dunlop Stainless Steel Flatwounds. Please note these are Medium Scale length and 45-105 gauge. I bough these at Bass Direct back in June 2021 but haven't needed them so time for them to go to a good home. £20 incl postage to the UK mainland.
  10. I bought a lovely ‘89 Stingray off Claudio who clearly knows his ‘rays. It was exactly as described in his clear & comprehensive ad. A deal was struck and Claudio met me halfway to hand it over the very next day. He’s a fine BC’er.
  11. I have just returned something to them via Hermès. Hoping I have a better experience than some of you have.
  12. I bought Chris’s Baby Bass in a textbook deal. Quick clear comms, all questions answered and a fine upstanding Basschatter too.

    Larry_M

I bought a pedal from Lawrence in a textbook deal. Prompt and clear comms, sent quickly and packed to withstand WWIII. Deal with him with confidence.
  14. I had one of these in the ‘90s, fantastic bass. GLWTS.
  15. This should be being used rather than sitting on a shelf so here it is. Bought used in Guitar Center in NYC seven or eight years ago and it works fine & sounds great. Volume, Tone and Sustain controls and a switch with 3 modes, Normal, Bass Boost and Dry. There's an effect out and dry out so it's a versatile pedal. Price includes postage in the UK. My feedback thread:
  16. I bought a QSC monitor from Sean. It was a textbook deal - clear & timely comms and he came & met me at Bass Direct which made the whole thing so much easier. Thanks Sean! Highly recommended!
  17. Dan spotted my Wanted ad and sent a clear yet detailed response with pics. We met and concluded the deal this morning. He's a top guy, easy to deal with and a pleasure to meet. Thanks Dan!
  18. Very cool bass Clarky!

    Feedback for Azumi

I have just conducted a smooth socially distant transaction with Azumi. He’s a fine BC’er and excellent to deal with.
  20. If you’ve read this thread, you’ll know that Pete is a fine BC’er, packs his stuff very well and is a pleasure to do business with. Having just bought a pedal from him, I concur. Thanks Pete!
  21. I put my Limelight Jazz up for trade wondering if I would be able to find someone who would swop for an equivalent P bass. Geoff offered exactly what I was looking for and we met up this morning and did the deal. Geoff is as great a guy as everyone above has attested. Smooth and clear comms throughout and only wish I could have stayed to chat longer. Also, the bass is exactly as described, ticks every box and plays like a dream. Basschat transactions don’t get any better than this!
  22. I had one of these for many years, they are great! GLWTS!
  23. It's 42mm.
  24. I have started playing with a singer/songwriter who really really wants me to play a P bass so it's time to get one again after 33 years. As this is my least used bass, I am offering it up here with a heavy heart. Long-standing BCer's may recognise the bass from the thread below which WoT has kindly given me permission to share along with his excellent photos. WoT also recorded some audio files of the bass and posted them to his YT channel. I share them here with his kind permission. I subsequently bought the bass from WoT but ended up mostly playing upright in the Americana band I'd intended it for. It's therefore only done a handful of gigs and recording sessions in the last 5 years and is in exactly the same condition it arrived in. It's currently strung with Lakland Joe Osborn flats and sounds mighty. Please note it has a Precision profile neck. For some reason, the first owner removed the marker-pen Limelight signature from the back (Mark has confirmed it's #001100) and the 'offset body' logo from the headstock. It doesn't have a case but will be well packed if I need to ship it at the buyers expense. As my opening suggests, I am open to trades with or without cash adjustments for a good 60's style P bass with a Rosewood board - a Limelight, a USRI Fender or similar. I don't need anything else so no other trades will be considered. I am happy to trade it for pounds sterling too. Finally, my feedback thread is:
