FURTHER FINAL PRICE REDUCTION - NOW £1,625 I can hardly believe I'm writing this as this has been a mainstay of my rig for many years but post-lockdown, I find myself in different bands favouring different sounds from before. Having just bought a couple of lovely Stingrays, I really do need to downsize.......but I might be tempted to a trade (partial or whole) for a good 60's style P bass - Fender, Lakland, Limelight & Moollon all appeal - with cash balance if needed. This is the signature bass of the great Will Lee, top NY session player and bassist on the US prime-time chat show, Late Night with Letterman for 20+ years. It's made in Sadowsky's Japanese workshop and it differs from a regular Sadowsky Jazz in the following ways: Sleek undersized body shape with different cutaway shape 22 fret neck Hipshot D-tuner Thicker headstock and graphite strips to reduce dead spots and create a more even response 1.45" nut width - narrower than usual Custom Will Lee version of the legendary Sadowsky preamp with on/off mid-boost; choice of 500Hz or 800Hz, wide or narrow bandwidth It weighs a very comfortable 8lb 12oz, is strung with nearly-new D'Addario ProSteels and comes with the usual Sadowsky case and paperwork. Condition is mostly very good except for some "rash" on the side of the bass between the jack socket and strap button plus a small ding on the underside of the headstock and a thin but not deep scratch on the side of the bass that faces upwards when playing and is hidden under the player's forearm. None of these are visible from the front and I've tried to show all three in the photos here. Happy to show more photos if anyone wants something specific. Collection from South Croydon or a meet-up not too far away is fine. I'm happy to ship the bass but the buyer should arrange their own courier to collect from me.

NOW £90 + shipping This is a great tube compressor but I'm downsizing my pedal board so this is now for sale. It's one of the few that uses the tube to compress your signal. Rather than have me inexpertly ramble on, may I suggest you read the review by compressor-guru Ovnilab http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/markbass.shtml The unit is in excellent condition, in its original box and comes with the original power supply. Collection welcome from South Croydon or a meet-up not too far away or I can post at the buyer's expense.

Now £165! Here's my Backbeat G1 for sale which I bought new from Bass Direct last Aug or Sept. It's in the original packaging with the charger and case and I've only used it about 5 times so it's in excellent condition. Since I upgraded my IEM's, I haven't needed it so it's time it found a new home. Collection welcome from Croydon or a meet-up not too far away. Alternatively, I can post at the buyer's expense.

Laurence Canty - Discussion, Memories, Potential Mega-thread
PTB replied to Matthew Canty's topic in General Discussion
Apologies for being late to this……. I had private lessons with Laurence at his flat in Highgate (I think) around 1988/89. After a few weeks, he told me he couldn’t do the time slot any more because he was about to start teaching a bass course at Goldsmiths. I immediately signed up and learned loads. He was a great teacher and the whole class had great respect for him and enjoyed the course. One evening he called me to say he’d given my name to a drummer who was looking for a bass player. I was astonished as I certainly wasn’t top of the class. That led to an audition that started 32 years of gigs and lasting friendships. I’m very grateful for meeting him early in my bass journey. Pass on my thanks & best wishes please. -

I bought this bass on here last year with a project in mind.......we'd been recording over lockdown and I felt sure gigs would follow and this would be perfect for it. Of course, they didn't and my Stingray and P bass are now all I need. Time to let this go to a new home. For those who don't know, this is an update of the Goya Panther bass that Abraham Laboriel started out on https://bassmagazine.com/artists/abraham-laboriel-the-soundtrack-of-our-lives History: Inspired by Juan Alderete, reimagined by Carey Nordstrand, the Acinonyx (genus for Cheetah) is a well thought out, modern reinterpretation of the Goya Panther. Carey sorted out the design flaws of the Goya with the problem solving prowess for which he is known. String pull, switch assignments sorted out, Carey developed this bass with ease of tone selection and overall playability in mind, but the ultimate goal is for the bass to be as fun to play as driving a race car. A short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches. Tone choices are available with a push of a button. Go “All In” by punching all of the buttons at once, which puts the pickups in series mode resulting in a a loud, thick, and punchy tone. The 1 over 3 headstock may seem unusual, but it provides straight string pull while honouring the original aesthetic of the Goya Panther. The bass comes with a special mute designed for this bass and a Gator short-scale gig bag. Both the bass and the bag are almost as new - I can't see any flaws on the bass at all. Collection or a meet-up preferred or shipping at your expense if you wish. Here's the facts & figures: •780mm scale (about 30.7”) •17mm spacing at bridge •1.4” wide nut •Alder body with Indian Rosewood fingerboard •Parchment and Tortoise pick guard options •2 propriety single coil chrome cover pickups •4 push button pickup selector switches (including “all in” series mode) •4 tone selections including flat, traditional tone roll off, heavy tone roll of, and mid notch •Very light weight - averaging 6.5 pounds •2 way spoke wheel truss rod •Compound radius for excellent playability •Proprietary custom US Hipshot bridge •Proprietary custom licensed Hipshot oval tuning machines •All basses are inspected and set up in Nordstrand's Redlands, CA shop Here's my feedback:

I acquired this case in a recent bass purchase here on BC and I don't have room for it. It's an old tweed case, no brand name, with Jeff Duncan's name on one side and on the inside of the lid of the internal storage. The locks seem to work OK but I don't have any keys for it. The outside is "road worn", to put it politely, but the inside is ok. If you are called Jeff Duncan and can prove it, you can have this for £10. For anyone else, it's £5. 🙂 Collection from South Croydon preferred.

I bought a lovely ‘89 Stingray off Claudio who clearly knows his ‘rays. It was exactly as described in his clear & comprehensive ad. A deal was struck and Claudio met me halfway to hand it over the very next day. He’s a fine BC’er.

I have just returned something to them via Hermès. Hoping I have a better experience than some of you have.

I bought Chris’s Baby Bass in a textbook deal. Quick clear comms, all questions answered and a fine upstanding Basschatter too.

I bought a pedal from Lawrence in a textbook deal. Prompt and clear comms, sent quickly and packed to withstand WWIII. Deal with him with confidence.

This should be being used rather than sitting on a shelf so here it is. Bought used in Guitar Center in NYC seven or eight years ago and it works fine & sounds great. Volume, Tone and Sustain controls and a switch with 3 modes, Normal, Bass Boost and Dry. There's an effect out and dry out so it's a versatile pedal. Price includes postage in the UK. I bought a QSC monitor from Sean. It was a textbook deal - clear & timely comms and he came & met me at Bass Direct which made the whole thing so much easier. Thanks Sean! Highly recommended!
