1. Sadly my GAS is sated for a little while (picked up a couple of basses from Geordieland a month ago) otherwise I would be all over this bargain. Trying to stick to a 'one in,one out' regimen can be hard at times :{ Have a bump while I look around and wonder what can go.
2. Stuff the bass, I'll give you a fiver for the piggybank
3.
Aww I'm not sure what noise a Stagg makes.
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE
4.
Yeah I know all about that pain ! One thing about my Stagg which is bugging me is that the holes that the arms fit into arent great . body one on the right hand side just about fits in but the smaller one the left just wont go in . Not a huge problem but I wondered if anyone else had this
Yep, its the only thing I dont like about mine. For those complaining about the lack of space for a full db, don't worry you will have one day. Then you will be an old tw*t like me and it will be muscles and joints that are more of a concern
5. I look forward to your post in about 12 months about how you met up with XXXXXX and picked up a 3/4 DB. It WILL happen, I speak from experience. I followed the same path
6. Wonder why it's only seems to be Fenders that get 'worn' in ? Is it because the originals weren't exactly finished to a high standard ? Certainly that was my impression the first time I tried one back in the mid 70's.
7. Personally I think it looks grate (rummages for hat and coat)
8.
That would have been very impressive - I thought you did well managing to get the train with a couple of gig bags on your back!
Heh, that was no prob. I went home a very happy bunny that day Looking at this I'm starting to wonder if another train ride might be on the cards...... Oh and if anyone else is considering buying this, I can vouch that Ben is a good guy to deal with.
9. Bloody glad I didn't see this before I met you and Conan in the Toon ! Would have been walking away with three basses
10. Just sold John a bass and thought I'd just add to the above. Swift and easy transaction, pleasure doing business.
11. I BUYED YOR BAS YOO BUSTARD!!!!!
12. +1 for Conan, great guy to deal with. Now the proud owner of his Cort Curbow 5.
13. +1 to all the above, smooth transaction and I now own a gorgeous Dearmond Jet Star. Many thanks Ben.
14. Ok heres an offer, I'm meeting Benebass at 12 ish on Saturday at the train station in Newcastle. If a Cort 5er were to also appear then I would be going home £200 lighter PM me if its a possibility.
15.
Does that mean that the law allowing an Englishman to use a crossbow to shoot a Welshman in the grounds of Hereford Cathedral on a Monday if it's not snowing now extends to Yorkshiremen, I'm confused?
Typical urban myth ! It's actually ' any Englishman can use ANY SORT OF WEAPON on a Yorkshireman if he is spotted within 200 yards of a church on any day with a Y in it'. Something that dates back to the War of the Roses I think.
16. Trying to stick to 'one in one out' (mainly to keep 'er indoors quiet) and i've got dibs on one newcomer and an eye on another so I'm making space by moving these on. On the left is a bitsa Paul Rose put together a while back to raise funds for the site, cant find a link to his original post at the moment. Would be a great bass for someone dipping a toe into fretless for the first time. On the right is an 80's Aria Pro 2 SLB. Not much to say about it really, standard P/J with a slim neck and a pointy headstock ! As you can imagine its not showroom condition having been been around for nearly 30 years but its still pretty good nick. Will post better pics later when I get my camera back from my daughter Will deliver free within 25 miles of Bolton otherwise P&P will be extra. Any questions, just ask. ***BOTH SOLD SUBJECT TO THE USUAL*** (Bugger me that was quick !)
17. I would be very surprised if this is still here at the end of the month but if it is then consider it sold.
18. >Psst! Wayne! - you don't have to be good..... If you can play 2 beats in the bar, in tune, you'll have a gig. Theres hope for me then ! Now if only I could nail the second bit, y'know that 'in tune' malarkey
19. A Ponder of Contrabasses ? Oh and check out the scroll on the third from the left on the frontline, I want that bass ! Would love to hear their interpretation of Barber's Adagio, with all that bass present it would probably be a recipe for mass suicides in the audience
20.
What is the price?
If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it Just joking ya know, I'm also curious about the price, this is just the sort of not-another-F-bass I like.
21. >Now I have time to actually read the forums and enjoy the place once more! Selfish b*st*rd ! Get back on your wheel and keep the site running, enjoying the site is purely for us (non-) paying members
22.
I found a link for that...blues in F. May be a bit steep to start learning, but I'm having a go at it anyways
Fixed it for you
23.
No need - it's not difficult to play the right notes, very simple basslines and so on. Just listen to it and play along. The hard bit is sounding even remotely as good as the original.
OK, will have to see if I can get the chord sheets. Yeah trying to sound even an eighth as good as Danny and Victoria will take more years than I can spare
24.
Solid Air - John Martyn May You Never - John Martyn Fire And Rain - James Taylor 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover - Paul Simon (no, really, it's not as hard as you think) The Look Of Love - Dusty Springfield (more challenging than the others here, but oh so satisfying) Folsom Prison Blues is a great track, but much harder to play on DB than on electric bass if you want to play a double-time walking bassline under the guitar solo. If you like that feel, you'd be better off with something like Livin' On Tulsa Time by Eric Clapton.
Would love to have a crack at the John Martyn stuff in particular, any ideas where i could pick up sheet or tab ?
