1. Can't be genuine 70's Fender. Everyone knows that old basses look like they have been attacked by a maniac with a sander !
  2. Thank god for that ! I was getting perilously close to another trip over the hills to see Will
  3. Have a ' I want this but I've bought 3 basses this year' bump
  4. I will give you £5.00 and generously offer to pay postage or pick up
  5. Have a 'I've bought 3 basses this year and she will kill me if I buy another' type bump for a bass I would love to have
  6.
Regardless as to wether the op is spamming or not, I'm certain that any guitar taken to a show as a demo piece is going to be cherry picked from stock, set up and fret dressed immaculately. What arrives in the box is another story altogether.
A little common sense creeping into an internet forum ? We will have none of that here sir (or madam), get back to the traditional spleen venting that is expected on forums.
  7.
Ok, that's more of a price I'd be prepared to pay for one! That being said, I wonder if that massive reduction in price suggests Thomann are having trouble shifting them,
If thats the case then I'm getting more inclined all the time to relieve them of their problem If I get one at 160 I'm pretty sure I could offload it for at least 100 should it turn out I don't like it. I'm almost talking myself into buying one here
  8. Made the mistake of having a look at Thomann....... http://www.thomann.de/gb/danelectro_wild_thing_bass_cab.htm £151+ £10 shipping, its almost in the 'impulse purchase' range
  9.
Take that, eyeballs! Ha! <snip> Seriously though, you're entitled to your opinion. Also, I don't live far from the harbour if you want to challenge your perceptions
Oh dear, I think I may have to lie down, that is SERIOUS bass porn ! Given me a bloody semi !
  10.
But most people have said they sound cool! Is it the pickups or 'tonewood'? What's the difference between plywood and multi-layers of 'tonewood'?
About £300-400 Most of the Dano Tone comes from the lipstick pups and the semi-hollow construction I believe.
  11.
Because mine just sits there looking at me. Its my first bass, I have to keep it. Good memories. Lots of piss taking mind, but hey, I bought a metallic purple bass that looks like a CSE, mode 3, failed, wood work project.
Or a nice bass with pleasant retro styling, beauty is in the eye etc.
  12.
Do you want another one?
Why ? is the obvious response. Looking at that pic of you with the Peavey I can understand that it might not suit you though
  13. Jeez this place sounds more an more like a woodwork class every day Flammenwerfer at 20 places shifts most finishes in my experience, and tends to improve most Fenders ( 0 to roadworn in 15 secs) Don't try this at home kiddies
  14.
That is quite foul.
I disagree, I love it. But then thats no surprise when you see my current line up ( DeArmond Jet-Star, Italia Modulo Tipo, Gretsch Electromatic and a few others) you will realise I enjoy an off centre taste in basses This is at the opposite end of the spectrum to a custom shop 'roadworn' Jazz (which is simply hideous IMHO) and I love the retro look. Shame its a little too pricey, wouldn't be happy paying that price without sitting down with it for half an hour This one on fleabay is a bit cheaper and a gorgeous colour, though the mind boggles at the idea of 'Candy Apple Blue' !!! .http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2320a0c656
  15. For me that is Jazz at its best, small tight trio of (very) competent musos. The drums were the standout for me and its not often I say that !
  16.
Bass gets you like that sometimes. I have been an on and off bass player for 24 years....I'm still crap mind... but I just can't get away from it for long before I come back.
+1 on that (spesh the bit about still being crap) Welcome to BC and stay away from the Market Place if you value your sanity (and you wallet).
Hi, I was intending to attach a pic or two of my basses. I have discovered I am a bit thicker than I was hoping not to be. Can anyone please advise an old fart how to do this? I bet its really simple and I am gonna feel stupid, or I am going to have to pop to the shop for some stonger meds. Thanks in advance
Click on 'More reply options' , at the bottom is an option to attach files. Click 'Browse' to find your file then 'Attach this file' HTH
  19. A Telecaster enema ? From my experience guitards like this are so far up their own backsides that it wouldn't be noticed. Any hows, welcome to BC, the place that inspired Mrs Brown to say 'Thats nice' Just joking (in case anyone understands the reference)

Welcome Bassmoof When you have rescued the Grabber sell it to me for £200 I'm a similar vintage to you and same story, bedroom player nowadays (hate that term) but you made the right choice parking your arse here, loads of info and opinions to keep you amused.
  21.
Jaco played drums and bass on Teen Town, so... Yes!
The difference is that Jaco played drums first, a wrist injury was the reason he switched to bass IIRC
  22. Probs with keys players ? Just remind em they can be replaced by eight floppy drives
  23. Bought this thing from new back in 74/5 (can't remember the exact date) and I can't see any reason to get rid after all this time so yes I DO like my bass The others may or may not hang around......
  24.
except for the guitar, but he's a jazzer and they are disembodied intellect, we know that.
True, a mate of mine is an ex jazz guitarist (he now gets his kicks playing mandolin at ceilidh's !!!) and if he starts to talk music I feel like saying ' Hello... Earth calling'
