1.
I looked at my favourite P player, Pino, and he plucks right over the pickup but it feels strange to me hitting the pickup with my fingers.
Lower your pickups, or turn up your amp and play with a lighter touch.
 2. Wow... Sire really seem to be listening to the market. Fender have a lot to learn.
 3. Is it a decent price? if so, hold your nose and give it a polish. Some people aren't as anal about basses as most of the BC populace.
 4. Oh, wait - no I wasn't.
 5. I pay a few quid every month for webspace.
 6. ...with all the mods mentioned previously.
 7. It's 100% an Antigua.
 8. I wish he'd come up to the North East. I'd love to see it.
 9. Here's another little clip I made yesterday - P pup solo'd, mic on the cab. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEpKEFyvoPY
 10. I knock back stuff if it's too loud. It's amateurish.

 12.
This is the first time in amp history that we can have as much power as the mains socket will supply for less than an average weeks wage. We'll get used to it, we will grow out of it, something else will come along.
Class D isn't new any more - I got my first one about 13 years ago. IME, the novelty seems to be wearing off for a growing number of people.
 13.
Its only a matter of time before "TC" is mentioned.
14.
I don't suppose anyone has one of these anywhere near the Glasgow area do they? I haven't seen one mentioned on the thread, but mentioning just in case there's a lurker.
There's none that I'm aware of - there's a couple in Newcastle, but I think that's the closest... at the moment.
 15.
Are you sure it is the mute switch operating, not the amp going into thermal shutdown, especially if you are eq-in more bass in to it? Just a thought...
^^ my thoughts also.
 16.
I live in New Zealand, so my purchase of the R-400 was totally blind. The only review I could find was wateroftyne's, so it's all his fault! J/k! I have no regrets at all, it suits me just fine. Despite the minimal knobs, it has a very powerful eq, although most of the time I don't need it, flat is fine. I opened it up one day (because I'm a tinkerer) and the build quality is absolutely top notch. Componentry matches any top end head I have ever seen. I still keep an MB200 but am using it to power my monitor wedges in my PA system.
Sorry about that Yep, running it flat does the job for me, too. It sounds just like a bass should (IMO).
 17.
A friend of my brothers was having her 18th birthday party at Julie's nightclub in Newcastle in 85/86 ish. They asked if she minded if a new local band played a set. The band turned out to be Dire Straits, who had just played at the City Hall. I think my brother said they played for about 2 hours.
I've got some photos of that gig somewhere. I'll see if I can dig em out.
 18.
What does talent have to do with being or becoming famous? For me the whole point of being able to make a living out of writing and playing the music I liked, would be so I didn't have to waste my time doing other things in order to put food on the table or keep a roof over my head. I still wouldn't have time for side projects (ignoring the fact that IMO they dilute what you really should be doing) because I'd be too busy creating and preforming the music I want to do with my band.
I think you're missing the gist of the post somewhat. I think the answer to the OP's post is... some do, some don't. This is partly the reason why parallel solo careers happen, I think.
 19. Some of the vintage tints have been a bit full-on for my tastes. On my last Jake, I asked for a really subtle tint, and it's fine.
 20.
I'm almost certain you can temporarily export items for service/repair and then not pay duty on it upon re-import, as you've already paid the due tax on it. I'll speak to our export compliance officer at work on Monday.
You certainly can. This thread is a discussion about how exactly you do it..
 21.
Perhaps - but the company involved had said to me that they had never any issues with the process so who knows?
Really? Wow. I wish I'd know about this back when I needed it...!
 22.
It's not as difficult as it is being made out above. Check out the below - https://www.fedex.co.../pdf/USF076.pdf (Document is 19 CFR 10.1 - Domestic products; requirements on entry.) I returned an £2k item (insured shipping was £100 - ouch!) to the States and it was pretty straightforward... you fill in the above item and send it with the item. A similar form is completed for the return journey by the vendor. My post office were pretty clued up - but I would wager it's pretty much pot luck on that front. No hold ups or anything - it did get checked - and it was all like clockwork. Hope this helps!
Yeah - this is gloriously simple but it screams 'Pot luck'. If there's a bit chunk of money involved, I'd be reluctant to take the risk on this method.
 23.
Sadness, the PM search function does not work
Here you go...
 24. I looked into this once. There was a lot of complicated form-filling and grey areas involved, so I decided against it. I hope you can make sense of it....
