1.
No difference with the cab upside down, it's still there
Ah, OK - that discounts a cable lying on one of the drivers, then. Worth a shot!
 2. re: the rattle - have you stood it on its head and tried it? Serious question.
 3.
numbskull here! No idea about the technicalities, but an educated guess concerning the money and companies involved would suggest the people involved are professionals at the top of their game, performer included, who would have planned; rehearsed; dress rehearsed; and sorted out any problems prior to going live?
The suggestion is that she complained her ears weren't working just before going live, but she was assured all would be OK. That's only her side of the story, mind.
 4.
For sure - miming is nothing new - that's kinda expected by any pop act nowadays, right or wrong. Madonna, Beyonce, Britney or <insert name>, they've all been caught doing it. Most of the time they get away with it. Even when they don't it's yesterday's news. What you have to remember, is that outside of the studio, these guys are primarily entertainers as opposed to singers... so it's as much about the clothes, the dancing, the stage, the lights... the singing is almost last on the list! (until it goes wrong that is!)
Absolutely - I'm not sure I agree with the 'yesterday's news' bit, though. Right now, I doubt that Ms. Carey would, either :-)
 5.
^ Even with all the licenses, you can't ignore stray RF that is beyond your control. Of course, I'm not saying this happened... just trying to say what *could* have happened... and why Mariah doesn't deserve the panning that she seems to be unjustifiably getting. Hell, I'm not even particularly a Mariah fan... but theres too many numbskulls with no idea about the technicalities of such a show to judge her on that performance. It's clear that her performance is dogged with technical issues, not her ability to sing or not.
I feel sympathy for her that her ears failed - that's a nightmare, and if it was only that, I'm sure Joe Public would be understanding. But...miming to the high bits? So long, sympathy. Only her & her management are to blame for getting her into that position.
 6.
That don't make it good. Just playable.
One of the covers bands I'm in does newer, dance-y stuff - most of which I'd never heard 'cos I live under a crusty rock - by Avicii, One Republic, etc with guitars bass and drums, and it goes down very well, and it's good fun to play.
 7. Bass? What bass? There ain't no bass until we've seen pictures
 8.
here in South Australia, the live music scene died about 20 years ago when they legalised pokie machines and every pub got rid of their dart and 8 ball teams and rooms, kicked out the bands, and put in 40 pokie machines. Five years later they were rolling in so much money, they all upgraded the facilities and put in restaurants and beer gardens. Now,the public are broke, pokie money is dying. I'm hoping they turn to live music to get people back in to their venues again.
My God, that sounds like a nightmare.... fingers crossed for ya.
 9.
Guess lightweight is all relative, my complete rig weighs less than your cab!
That's the 2x12. I also have the 1x12 which is half the weight :-)
 10. I forgot to mention my cab as well. So, here we go: Amp: Handbox R-400 - old-school Class A/B, but only 10kgs Cab: TKS S212 - old-school ceramic drivers, but only 20kgs (lighter than many Neos) Bass: Maruszczyk Jake - chambered body, only 3.3kg Lightweight doesn't have to mean Class D or Neo. :-)
 11. The recent Opera House gig is on Sky Arts tonight...
 12. Thanks for posting. I'm in the 'Felder & Leadon should have been there too' camp. Poor Tim Schmit looked awkward as hell - he only played on one of the songs performed.
 13. Well done...
I'd suggest two versions of it, one a little bit shorter for things where it just gets clicked on then this version on your web page or agency stuff once they've liked you enough to look a bit deeper,
I agree with this - you need another cut that gets straight into it, and says everything that needs to be said within about 10 seconds.
 14. Existing thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/297463-george-michael-rip
 15.
Haha. I had a a paypal query which quickly became irrelevant as the chap changed his mind about payment method. My season's greetings were still heartfelt and must not be ignored under any circumstances.
Ah, in that case... Merry Christmas!
 16.
Ignore pls Merry Christmas everyone
Does the Christmas greeting still apply, or is that what we're supposed to be ignoring?
 17. Does it happen acoustically? I know you've tinkered with pickup height already, but try lowering the pickups as far as you can get them across the board - see if that evens it out. Having the strings too close can suck the life out of the tone, IME.

 19.
I'll share the result here, so you can laugh at me and enjoy the experience without wasting your money as I'd have done it for you. I'm that nice.
Ha... truth is, if you're a tinkerer, it sounds like you'll have a lot of fun with it regardless of the outcome. There are worse ways to spend your time and money :-)
 20. I'm intrigued too... YouTube is full of horror stories, so best of luck!
 21.
Incidentally, I thought the Tech21 head was pretty barky and weedy...and that's a lead-sled Proper Transformer one...
I'm not surpised. The SABDDI isn't great (IMO), and it won't sound any better with a power amp nailed to it.
 22.
Oh, I dunno - if you want the sound of The King Of The Big Old Valvey Heads ™, then it does just that...the one with the mids control is better all-round, though.
The one with the mids control is still a tone-sucker. That's a whole other thread, though :-D
 23.
It`s called a Sansamp
Yeeeuch!
 24. Does it have to be a Fender? How about one of these? (Also available without the bridge pup..)
 25.
But some people have a weight problem and need to resign themselves to the fact that Diet Coke helps them to manage it.
That's why I gravitated back to the Walkabout, and latterly the Handbox R-400. Manageable, with full fat taste :-)
