Hey folks I'm trying to improve my playing and I'm looking for some good online lessons. I need something to structure my practice around. Ultimately I'm interested in funk/jazz style playing but I don't want to specialise too much. I would describe myself as being an intermediate pick player but a beginner at fingerstyle (what I really want to focus on). I want to get back to having proper lessons at some point but I can't really afford them just now. Any recommendations? Ideally a series of things that I can work through gradually.

Thats a very good version, and it must have been very emotional for them all. A good tribute. But, on a different note, I have to admit I've never seen the attraction to Stairway. LZ have dozens of better songs in my opinion.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend a custom bass for someone in your position. You may find that your idea of your ideal bass changes quite a lot as you get back into playing. Buying a custom bass and then changing your mind about it is a great way to lose a fortune. To be honest, your budget is so good that pretty much everything in that range will be a very good instrument. Get yourself to a good shop and play as many things as you can and see what jumps out at you. Also, in the current market, if you have that kind of money to spend, there are some seriously good second hand bargains out there.

Finally watched this. Thought it was one of the best live performances from a "pop" band that I've ever seen. Brilliant. Kimberly Davis deserves to be a star in her own right---"I Want Your Love" in particular was incredible.

Some of these are tempting---but not if you get hit with import charges. Has HMRC shown an interest in any of your orders?

When Keith Jarrett is on form he's astoundingly good, but like you say a lot of his stuff I find a bit dull. The ECM stuff with Jan Garbarek I like, and his trio with Gary Peacock and Jack Dejohnette is fantastic, but for me his finest recording is The Koln Concert. Absolutely brilliant.

"vibration treatment" sounds like total snake oil to me.

Got to be honest, I don't like the idea of using credit to pay for luxury items (unless you're going to pay off the card immediately), especially not in the middle of one of the worst financial periods the world has ever seen. I'd rather not have that debt hanging over my head.

This seems a sensible thread to ask this... I've been desperately trying to sound like Bernard Edwards recently---whats the best "stingray on a budget"?

I like the vomit purple but it really does need a scratchplate.
