I think what lots of you are forgetting is that one reason bands used to go on tour was as a loss leader to promote and sell a new record. Now, you make a new record as an excuse to have a tour and make some money. It's not a coincidence that gig ticket prices exploded at the same time as Spotify took off.

Hello, Snazzy Boss multifx / modelling unit in basically "as new" condition - bought new by me, barely used and never left the house. Sounds really good, I just don't ever use effects and it's too big to use solely as a preamp. Boxed, although the box is very slightly bashed (it came to me like that, tbf...) Delivered to your door in the UK for £210. ***SOLD***

I traded something into Bassbros and whilst it was a good experience overall they weren't amazing at email. Give them a ring and speak to them, it'll probably get their attention...

For me the answer is currently "three is too many". Hopefully that will still be my answer the next time this thread gets bumped!

Hi guys This is a lovely bass but I have too much "stuff" and that needs to change. Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz in Seafoam Green in excellent condition. Bought new by me. I have fitted a Kiogon Loom (VBT) and DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, hence the slightly elevated price. Currently there are dunlop flats on it but I'll be swapping these out for some rounds before it leaves me. Collection from Burntisland, Fife or I can meet at Haymarket in Edinburgh during the week. Willing to discuss postage (at buyers cost) but would like to give it a week or two to find a local buyer first.

I've owned two or three G&L instruments and they've always been decent quality but I do think the brand suffers a bit from being neither fish nor fowl. They lean on the Fender connection, but the guitars are too modern (e.g. pickups, styling, etc.) to really satisfy the vintage gear heads who might appreciate the Leo Fender thing, but at the same time the guitars are too "Fender with a tweak" to satisfy anyone who actually wants something modern.

Hello, Very cool little Boss modeller for sale. Sounds great but I'm just not a modelling guy, I'm admitting defeat---I just don't enjoy the process, as good as the results can be. Boxed, also comes with additional Bright Onion switch. £325 delivered please. Would consider trades for bass gear - amps, basses (J flavoured), whatever... In good condition, a few scratches on the bottom as pictured. Album with lots of photos here: https://imgur.com/a/9pniK6g

Right, I know this has been asked a million times but bear with me. I've been playing D'Addario 165 rounds for years (the 45-105 nickel ones) and like the way they feel weight/tension wise. Now I want a proper old school set of flats - probably something Labella flavoured. Anyone recommend flats that will feel broadly the same weight/tension wise as the D'Addario rounds? How will the Deep Talking Flats or Low Tension Flats compare? FWIW, I have a set of dunlop flats on a bass right now but I've really gone off them and I'm not sure why. So if anyone could compare the Labellas to those as well that would be useful!

Not sure what you mean. If you mean "how come the mixed feelings" its because there seems to be a modern trend to ruin otherwise awesome Mustangs with a J pickup. If you mean "how come you don't like PJ" its just because it never works for me. The J is too weedy/too noisy/too unnecessary/just doesn't balance. I am a huge fan of Jazz basses - its P, or JJ, or go home IMO!

As someone who loves Mustangs but doesn't really like PJ setups at all, this thread is giving me very mixed feelings...

After 20 years, reunited with my very first bass

Never seen those before. Cool bass, even cooler story! -
Well thats bonkers. I wouldn't buy one, but I always do enjoy when a signature instrument is a genuine "built for this one person" effort so I can appreciate it.

Thinking about a new bass after 4 months, need some advice

^^^ what this man said. A Squier CV is more than "good enough" for practicing and gigging, so we really need to know why it isn't floating your boat.- 3 replies

This looks great. I wish Fender (Squier) would offer more P basses with J size necks...

I love Deftones and they're one of my favourite bands, but I'm not that bothered about going to see them - primarily because I'm not sure there's a sound man alive who can make their sound work live. I think I'll settle for the gigs I've already been to.

Exact opposite experience for me. I think this is their best record in years.

Please help before I throw my pedalboard out the window 🤣
uncle psychosis replied to bassben1's topic in Effects
If the problem is that you can't hear the external effects at all then it's probably going to be something silly. Check that you are correctly connecting inputs and outputs for starters. Maybe take a photo of everything connected together so we can see what you're doing.
