  1. Hello, Very cool little Boss modeller for sale. Sounds great but I'm just not a modelling guy, I'm admitting defeat---I just don't enjoy the process, as good as the results can be. Boxed, also comes with additional Bright Onion switch. £350 delivered please. Would consider trades for bass gear - amps, basses (J flavoured), whatever... In good condition, a few scratches on the bottom as pictured. Album with lots of photos here: https://imgur.com/a/9pniK6g

  2. Never seen those before. Cool bass, even cooler story!
  3. Well thats bonkers. I wouldn't buy one, but I always do enjoy when a signature instrument is a genuine "built for this one person" effort so I can appreciate it.
  4. ^^^ what this man said. A Squier CV is more than "good enough" for practicing and gigging, so we really need to know why it isn't floating your boat.
  5. This looks great. I wish Fender (Squier) would offer more P basses with J size necks...
  6. I love Deftones and they're one of my favourite bands, but I'm not that bothered about going to see them - primarily because I'm not sure there's a sound man alive who can make their sound work live. I think I'll settle for the gigs I've already been to.
  7. Exact opposite experience for me. I think this is their best record in years.
  8. If the problem is that you can't hear the external effects at all then it's probably going to be something silly. Check that you are correctly connecting inputs and outputs for starters. Maybe take a photo of everything connected together so we can see what you're doing.
  9. Yeah I've got Hx Native and used to have a Stomp. Helix is good, but it's just not fun for me.
  10. C@Pow_22 Can you tell me if, on the origin effects pedals, the DI (XLR) out is affected by the volume control on the pedal or if it's a fixed output level? The manual is a little bit ambiguous. Cheers
  11. Sandberg Electra VS4? It doesn't sound 100% like a passive Fender but it's pretty close...
  12. Nice, but afraid that just looks like a worse ME-90B to me 🤪 Bass VT DI or Origin Effects definitely still top of the tree. The OE stuff is not cheap though, eh...
  13. Hi guys Before I go and buy a Sansamp Bass VT DI, wanted to see if anyone had any better ideas. I play at home through a powered speaker (Yamaha HS7) so a combined preamp/di box makes the perfect home practice setup. I've got a Boss ME-90B which sounds great but its a bit big for my small office space and frankly I want an excuse for new gear. I've had sansamp gear before so I know roughly what I'm getting but aware there are other bits of gear out there now that do similar things, ie the Origin Effects stuff which certainly looks good. Desirable features for me: 1. Vintage/Classic sounds, in the motown/reggae/edge of breakup indie rock spectrum. If i was a rich man who had a bigger house I'd probably buy a "real" B15 and an SVT and switch between them depending on mood. 2. High gain absolutely need not apply 3. Battery power ideal but not essential. 4. If needs a power supply, dedicated power switch very desirable (i don't like faffing about disconnecting and connecting power to turn stuff on/off) 5. Balanced DI out desirable 6. Volume control that affects the DI out extremely desirable 7. Cab sim on the DI out extremely desirable. Even better if it's switchable/defeatable. The Bass VT DI ticks almost all of those boxes I believe but interested to see if anyone thinks I'm selling myself short...
  14. Thanks. I'm very interested but need to do some research!
  15. Can I clarify, does it come with a power supply or not?
  16. Would love to. Just got to overcome a 400 mile hurdle to get there 😀
  17. Of course, one of the "interesting" things Fender do to muddy the waters is that the specs always tend to vary across the ranges - the neck shapes are different, different finishes, etc. so it's not that straightforward to directly compare them. I do think at some point in my future I'm going to go on a quest to try some "expensive" Fender J basses and I'm genuinely not sure what to expect. I do worry that none of them will match up the awesome cheapo Vintage (JHS) jazz bass that @mcnach stupidly sold me, then I stupidly sold back to him, then I think he stupidly sold it to someone else 😝
  18. Interesting reading. For my own part, I've never been sure about Japanese Fenders. Some are really good. Others are no better than their Mexican equivalent....
  19. Hi folks Intrigued as to the "consensus" on the forum as to the quality of the "higher end" Fender basses out there. How do things like the American Vintage and/or American Professional II series compare in comparison to, say, a Vintera or Player series model? Where do the Japanese ones fit in in 2025? Noticeably better? Bit better but not worth the cash? Different ballgame altogether? What about custom shop? Whole different conversation? I'm definitely of the opinion that mass produced instruments with bolt on necks definitely have a quality:price ceiling where the diminishing returns get silly but I'm not sure I know at what price point that happens. Obviously the right answer is "go and play a bunch" but I'm interested in your thoughts as well. (FWIW - I'm afraid if its not a Fender I'm not interested, yes there are lots of awesome basses out there that aren't Fender but that's a different thread for a different day).
  20. It wasn't outrageously heavy, but it most certainly wasn't 'very lightweight' as someone mentioned earlier in the thread.
  21. If its the same bass (bass direct can't have had too many amber trb5 mkI for sale in the last few years) it was anything but lightweight. I bought it and returned it because I couldn't stand the hiss from the preamp and it seemed like sacrilege to consider changing the electronics. A shame because it was a nice bass.
  22. Hmmm. I had no idea that the Sonic P basses were J width necks. Given that I'm also on a quest for "something that looks and sounds like a P but plays like a J" and suddenly I'm tempted...
  23. Extend your search beyond music sites - for example a fairly quick search for "fishing box" or "fishing bag" brings up all sorts of usefully sized things
  24. I really like DiMarzio Area J pickups.
