  1. A lot of cool pedals there but I just couldn't be arsed with the hassle. Cables, power supplies, the size, the weight... ugh. Rather you than me!
  2. I really, really fancy one of these in natural. Damnit.
  3. I've lost count of the amount of times I've listed stuff on gumtree, Facebook, forums, etc that hasn't gone anywhere only for it to sell almost instantly the second I list it on ebay - and usually at a higher price too. I've also encountered far more chancers and nutters via Facebook and Gumtree, if I'm being honest. Ebay isnt perfect but I still think it's the best way to actually shift stuff.
  4. You can thank the muppets that tried to be smart by selling a bass for 99p with £400 postage costs for eBay putting commission on postage costs. I actually completely disagree that ebay's fees are unreasonable. There are lots of reasons to complain about ebay but the fees aren't one of them - financially ebay is a fantastic deal. Everyone just expects something for nothing these days it seems.

  6. I've only spent half an hour with it, but I'm very chuffed indeed. I basically want(ed) it to replace the entirety of my current rig --- which is a preamp pedal into a powered speaker, then separate other pedals. For bass I never want to do anything complicated, I want a decent "amp" sound, I want some basic overdrive, some chorus, and then because I like to tinker I want the ability to do additionally silly things every now and again. I will probably live in manual mode 100% of the time. Thirty minutes with it tells me that it will absolutely cover my current standalone rig --- the basic amp, chorus, and overdrive sounds are absolutely spot on. The other effects will need me to do some tweaking to work out what I like but there do seem to be enough decent sounds in there to have fun. I do still have questions about how manual mode interacts with the "replaceable" effects (the ones that are accessible via the tone studio). I do hope that these are available in manual mode once you have set it up in tone studio. Anyone know? One final comment --- if, like me, you intend to live in manual mode then there's a setting you need to be aware of. Its called "Switching to Manual Mode" and page 16 of the Reference Manual tells you how to change it: With the default factory setting of "N1" then when you turn on Manual Mode the sound retains the settings from Memory Mode, which means the knobs are not WYSIWIG. This confused the hell out of me until I found how to change it! (However I can also see there are occasions when you'd want this behaviour so good to have it both ways).
  7. Mine has FINALLY arrived. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow...
  8. Try experimenting with where you position your right hand. I find J basses particularly tone-sensitive to this.
  9. Hello, is postage an option?
  10. Bump - open to trades for Fender flavoured things.
  11. There's a fairly compelling argument that the loss of the student grant has had a really detrimental effect on bands "coming through" in the UK. There must be hundreds of bands who only "made it" because they had four years of art college / university to hone their craft relatively risk free. Can't do that anymore.
  12. I've got a PhD in musical acoustics. In my experience, loads of people with PhDs also play instruments. Not sure if that's because well rounded, curious minded people gravitate towards music or whether it's because the kind of people who are able to go to university for 6-9 years are the kind of people whose parents get them music lessons. Its probably both tbh.
  13. If you could only keep one of the Ps, which would it be?
  14. Open to sensible offers and postage is possible!
  15. I'd go for a second hand Fender, or even a higher end Squier. Stick with the tried and tested J design as the place to start.
  16. Mulling it over for the last few days, I'm definitely getting one now - busy at work this week so waiting to order it until such time as I'll be able to spend some time with it! Anyone else taking the plunge?
  17. Ahh, yes thanks for reminding me to update thedescription!
  18. Nice! I can't pretend I know much about Warwicks but the Dolphin really is a cool instrument. Looks like a very nice example and a cool back story too.
  19. After reading the manual I'm about 99% sure I'm getting one. The overlap between effects slots works for me pretty much perfectly. Only question is if I wait for Amazon to get them in stock, purely because their returns process is so good if required.
  20. I'd argue that anyone who wants MIDI doesn't want an ME-series Boss unit in the first place. If you're going to control it remotely, then you're kind of defeating the USP of these units and would be better served with a Gx-100 / GT-1000-core which will offer a lot more options to the MIDI fiends.
  21. The market is people like me - people who like the idea of multifx but who don't give a toss about complex routing, who like WYSIWYG controls, who hate menu diving but who want the ability to add a few different effects here and there. The ME series has long been my favourite of the Boss MFX and I suspect I'm not alone. I'm no luddite - I use Helix Native, and I've owned an HX Stomp, a Gx-100, and god knows how many other effects --- but this seems right up my street. I'm sorely tempted to order one tonight.
  22. Up for grabs is a (mini) Crybaby Bass Wah CBM105Q. Great sounding wah, but I prefer the full size one. Be warned, the spring on this one is a bit squeaky (a common complaint with sprung wahs). Its a bit annoying but doesn't affect operation in the slightest. £65 posted in the UK please ***SOLD*** photos here: https://imgur.com/a/2gB5sZ7

  23. Shipping is available so dont be shy folks
  24. I've got one of these, but I don't really use the presets and I am not a big fan of the sound that you hear having no relation to where the knobs are physically set (which is partly why I don't use the presets). Does the VT Bass DI sound the same? (or does a different Sansamp pedal sound the same? I can't keep up...).
