...and our very own WoT appearing on Friday!
I thought the name The Caffreys rang a bell! I saw the sunburst P and it clicked. I love a bit of close harmony, me. :-)

Not on here, but I had something similar on coffeforums.co.uk a while back , whereby objections seemed to be connected to the moving banner at the top of the page. Currently on this page they're showing Rotosound and Elixir. I have no idea of the technicalities of these things!
Do you not get the toneprints on the Hypergravity then?
You get a different selection, mainly guitar-based ones. For some reason TC Electronic seem to have decided, at least for now, to market the SpectraComp as the 'bass' one. There's a 3-way switch on top to select Spectra (multiband)/Classic/Toneprint(in which you can make up your own and assign the knobs to pretty much anything you fancy!).
What's the difference between the hypergravity and the stecracomp then? If they can both use the toneprint and are both compressors... I'm confused
I hummed and hawed between the two, the ultimate deciding factor ended up Bassdirect having the Hypergravity in stock although I was veering more towards that one anyway. I think if youhave time to use the editor software they're all but equal, but for me the mid gig control of 4 knobs outweighs the fun aspect of all those bassists' Toneprints. Love it. :-)

If it's anything like the one on a Peavey power amp I had yonks back, it's just to limit the potentially damaging peaks at high volumes without otherwise affecting (or effecting) the signal, so to be at all audible you'd have to be rattling the house.. probably not hear it anyway! :-D

I've not tried any of the MB range, including the MB Fusion; don't confuse these with the Fusion 550, which I do have. Bought it after a lengthy brains-picking session with Bassgear. Not a modern lightweight model, but not particularly heavy either, and marvellously versatile with headroom a-gogo! Multivalve front end, so can grit if wished.

The ones who really have enough angst to bother you with such negativity need to go away and play more. I mostly use fingers, but that's me. Occasional flatpick use, and more often than a flat I'll use a thumbpick in a bass-strum style to vary things when playing without a drummer, especially if the guitarist is a bit weak on rhythm!

Not fun times with parcelfarce and parcel2go

Love my aging Tribal Planet one; half the time I have one bass plus mic stand etc. 2 basses in one carry is quite a weight! Saving up for a Mono M80 Dual next, top notch construction and great fit for a 35 inch 5 string J.

My first DB was a Zeller solid top from Romania; sounds like pretty much the same thing had happened - my more learned friend pointed out the neck had been out but the repair looked good. It certainly caused me no problems in the few years I had it, and I happily got the soundpost and bridge upgraded part way through my tenure. Most decent luthiers will advise if they think it would be OTT to put further money into the instrument.

I've been 'experimenting' with effects recently, mostly at home or on just one or two projects. I've just started carrying my 'live' fx board when gigging with the worst offending band, thus I can say I need this space in front of me. Otherwise someone will stand there. That close!

These things can pack up, yes. Have you definitely got 9V at the preamp (if possible check this at the circuit board inside), and have you checked the pickup itself? The preamp is all but unrepairable, so replacement or bypass are the only further options. What size is the cutout for the pre?
You can make the DPA work well if you send it to PA or front of house. Then you forget all about it until someone in the audience comes up in the interval and tells you how great your bass sounds. But to hear yourself playing above the volume of the band you need a pickup to backline.
This, really.. miking up a DB then standing anywhere near the speakers is a perfect recipe for feedback. We sell DPA in the shop, as our accordion specialist uses them live. SO transparent in tone. I tried one on flute, and it was like there was someone across the room playing a ridiculously loud flute back at me.

I got a Gallien Krueger Fusion 550 last year from Bassgear.. superb head and, which is why I've mentioned it here, it has a separately controllable bi-amp tweeter output so very versatile. The front end is multiple valves for preamp and eq. Headroom a go-go. I occasionally use modulation effects, and they seem to shine through nicely. No regrets at all about getting that one. :-) Edit: I'd go for full range cabs and use that bi-amp thing for full effect.

You don't have a 'Both' option.. can't vote. I feel somehow disenfranchised.. -
What did they use to strip it.. a hammer? Mind you.. 'Upgraded to a Jazz US so don't need this anymore.'.. they have so much to learn!
I quite fancy them for my Lakland 5501 - reckon they'll be okay for the 35" scale? (Obviously just through the bridge, not through the body for flats!)
Depending on your bridge and nut, be prepared for a bit of judicious silk trimming. . On my 35" that I wanted to use them on, I need 945mm from ballend to topside of the nut. A couple of these strings give me 940mm! On another, with a different bridge, I reckon that I'd just get away with it.

Replacement rubber feet - sorted now thanks!

When I was upgrading a couple of cabs and boxes I went onto Ebay and bought a bagload of a bit wider ones, excellent things, but have you tried just contacting Alex at Barefaced to see if he has the exact matching one?
