1. You've got a really nice setup with the two thumbs. I've managed to do the same thing with guitars but I still constantly worry if I can afford it or not (being unemployed and all). When I had basses I wasn't completely happy, closest I've been is a Marleaux Consat 5 String Fretless which could do anything...although I wished it was a 4 string.
2. I now feel better about my playing, thanks for posting this! I used to be a confused bass player like that - inbetween wanting to play guitar and bass, I resorted to a fretless rather than an ERB.
3. Just out of interest is that a 12" radius with those wide vintage 6230 frets?
4. Here's not the place to sell guitars (from experience!!) I'm sure if you put this beauty up on Gumtree someone will find it from anywhere in the UK - especially something like this! Preloved is another one to try but i'd put money on your interest coming from Gumtree . I've seen these in person, didn't get the time to try but the rust looks fantastic and everyone sings about how good they are .
5. It's an unusual headstock and mine had wooden tuning pegs - when I put mine up after first joining everyone started talking about something called the 'Lowden-era'. I'd ask EBS Freak, he knows all about the Goodfellow stuff. I traded my musicman 4 string for one o these, ironically .
6. How did the seller shaft you? Got me worried, I just bought a guitar off Ebay
7. I'm sure it wouldn't weigh as much as 15lbs, I had a six string made of entirely maple weighing in at 14lbs. I remember seeing this bass elsewhere and the top is simply stunning, if you ever needed inspiration to play the timber on this would do it for you!
8. 9. If you've played a G&L previously and enjoyed their electronic innovations stick with!! I have and i've just bought my 5th yesterday . I've not had a tribute but the yankie ones were very nice indeed (L2000 & L2500), I had no trouble finding the tones I wanted from Jaco to Jack Bruce. I never worry about build quality with this brand.
10. That space bass is awesome, you need the Warwick bootsy to go with!!
11. The amount of times i've done that - I just turn into a space cadet tuning strings. If you think that's bad, try setting up a Floyd Rose or a Bigsby!!
12. Well you should be reassured that you have a Stage 1 for your modern tones and a Precision for your vintage sound . I like thumbs (electronically) but I hear they're uncomfortable to play in comparision with a Streamer - apparently feel like making your way round a 35" scale.
13. I'd be giving it away too if it sounded like that!
14.
There is a difference for me between Fancy and Stylish. I play simple stuff on a stylish chrome Warwick I don't like wood finishes at all, but the huge exception to this is the Xylem basses in the Basschat affiliates thread, they are utterly delicious!
Always wanted to get a chrome warwick and then go join Judas Priest
15. Every Music Man Sterling guy needs to try a Kubicki
16. That's very nice indeed!
17. Damn that's nice!!
18. I usually don't like see through sunburst's on the cheaper Fender ranges - just because you can see the several pieces of wood glued together BUT that Squier's grain is very lovely indeed!! I'm surprised it's as nice, if not nicer than my recently sold '62 AVRI
19. GAS
20. Ahh ya see!! All my bumping worked, well at least you painted the badge on it for the buyer
21. Ok ok, now you done that, MISSION 2!! Shave the ends off and make it fit round the soundhole of a Spanish classical guitar
22. Do it !! Big one - like so:
23. Can't help but smile at timber basses like that, the back is as beautiful as the front. Love Bartolini soapbars, nice rounded thud
