It's not Warwick, it's the Switchcraft designed socket. I've had nothing but trouble with them - not just on Warwicks... My bongo's the same, as is my Ibanez ATK. When it's my turn to rule I'll outlaw the b*stard things!!!
Got to disagree! The design may be the same but the quality of construction sets the likes of the Switchcraft and the Neutrik way above the Warwick spec one. I've 'probably' owned more Warwicks than anyone else on BC... or anywhere else for that matter and as such I must have replaced dozens of sockets and I can honestly say that the quality components mentioned will last many times longer than the original spec sockets. In fact I once bought a couple of replacement Warwick sourced sockets and they failed within a year or two whereas Switchcraft replacements are still going strong after 15 years. Just my honest and unbiased take on these sockets!
That Bolin is lovely! (The Sonus is pretty hot too.... )
Sonus is gone but the Bolin and Streamer won't be going any time soon!

Warwick jack socket... nuff said! Get a Soundcraft or Neutrik one and you'll be sorted. TBH it's a relatively (dead easy) DIY job and should theoretically be a £20 job but seeing as how many places will charge you a minimum £30-£40 the total could end up being that +£6-£10 for the socket.
cant stand them..and IMO totally pointless, looks awful and weighs more.. does a SC Fodera sound better than a DC Fodera.. me think not... dont get me atarted on that Warwick thing..
Maybe they weigh more than a bass that has the same design but with the wood cut away but by definition a SC doesn't have to be heavier than a DC. My Bolin weighs 8lb... is that heavy?
thats a good point..im thinking they dont need a truss rod though..?
SC basses act in the same way and they do have rods. Love em or loathe them; I would take my Bolin over virtually any other bass but I also love my Streamer, so I guess I have best of both worlds!

I've just fitted red silk wrap LaBellas to my Sterling.
I'd still expect it to be more, even with basic emg's, I don't think you often see neck through 5ers at that kind of price!
When you say neck through 5ers do you specifically mean Schecters or just in general? The price of NT basses has tumbled over the years and I've seen a few NT basses going for the low 100's which I find astonishing but then I've no idea how good they!

So is it just me that thinks the G string is inbound from the edge of the fingerboard in relation to the E string? It could be the camera angle but I'm fairly certain it is an imbalance in neck/string alignment.

How upset would this make you?
warwickhunt replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in General Discussion
Oddly enough I think the seller is a BCer! I do have to take issue with the description of the bass being stock other than a belated mention of two 'chips'. 'Chips'! It looks like a couple of sections have totally splintered off and have been stuck back in with chewing gum. No mention of what looks like massive fret shrinkage or a refret and as has been mentioned the mute assembly appears to be missing unless it is included but not fitted. -

Warwick Basses - Harder to get in the UK now?
warwickhunt replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
The difference between the new values and the resale values astounds me (cost vs worth / value)
+1 I've had my red Streamer Stage I (1990) on ebay for £1100 BIN and I had a few offers of folks offering me used basses as part-ex and expecting to get a straight swap for their bass which 'might' have cost £1100 when brand new. One guy in particular offered me a Sterling which I said might be interesting depending upon cash he'd put up as well. His initial response was that as his bass cost £1300 new it should be a straight swap; I pointed out that the SSI new now is £2300 so hardly a fair swap. Now looking at new values I was being reasonable but lets just say his response to my view of values was met with some hostility and a strong view on his part of the relative values of Warwick and Musicman basses. He didn't get a trade! LOL -
Ok, ta. So it's a sign that the seller ended the auction rather than ebay ending it?
Yes. If ebay did it you'd not have any trace other than the listing number. -
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! i would love to have Rita back, but no money "ANYONE WANT TO BUY MY SPECTOR"a fantastic bass and if it hasnt gone already im sure a certain previous owner with more disposable income than me will be along in a minute. you new bass must be very special
I have the cash... but can't do the collection!

So who's gonna contact him and say 'I left that behind, it's mine and I'd like it back'? However, who would leave their bass cab behind when moving! -
Oh bloody hell!
What bigT said! I can 'almost' guarantee it'll be worth less than you want for it and it's value will be more than folks will offer. That sounds vague but they are literally THE most undervalued bass available used today (bar none). I realise that you're a noob but just a bit of advice (nowt to do with price), give folks the chance to view your thread before posting another identical one... or three.
Hi Ive attached some pictures of my March 83 JV Precision which has been in the loft for the past 5 years unplayed. I dont get the use out of it as i have moved on to more "Sophisticated" Instruments ( 5/6 strings etc). Ive heard rumours that it might be worth a penny or two these days so can anyone give a balanced view on this. Ive heard outrageous claims and wonder what the concensus was...
It's worth anywhere from £300 - £900 (though the upper figures tend to be reserved for mint condition 'collectors pieces' particularly Jazzes). TBH you could advertise it at anywhere in between those figures and you might still not get a bite. A JV P bass modded with a Jazz pup was on ebay recently for a BIN of £600/£550/£500/£400 and eventually sold for £360, that should give you an idea but it might be worth trawling through past BC sales to see what has actually sold (as opposed to been advertised) and for how much.

Not the best pic but you get the idea!
What do you mean by a bit of solid foam? Is it a bit of packaging or something? I'd like to try that out.
The kind of hard/semi-hard foam that comes packed around new PCs/electrical equipment. The stuff I got is ideal as it literally is a rectangle which fits around the handle (sitting between the two cabs) but is sufficiently wide that it almost goes to the edge of the cab and forms a nice solid 'D/O' ring around the handle; same goes for the top cab/amp. It really does make a heck of a difference. I may have a pick from a gig which I'll stick up to illustrate. <edit> As an added bonus it isolates any vibration to the amp thus prolonging the life of the amp... probably!
-
I actually turn my Aggie DB112's on their edge so that I get a bit more vertical height. Stacked normally they barely reach waist height but stacked on edge (with solid foam between to avoid handles tipping the cabs/amp over) they are at shoulder height with the horn at the top. They are a little precarious but unless I was at a mental gig there's no way they'd topple... "touch wood"! It makes a heck of a difference when on a confined stage and you want the maximum monitor output. I'm not sure if it has any afect on the FOH sound but it's not like I'm lacking any output.
