Finally got into doing some proper playing today on my newly strung up project, the strings have been on a whole day and the E string snapped while I was resting my thumb lightly on it. Have la bella been having some quality control issues or something? Anyone else had problems with them lately?
Is that the ones with the blue silks?

I'm lead to believe that the little bit of extra internal volume of the DB212 cab means that they go a little lower BUT I have to confess my pair of DB112's have never lacked bottom end! I'd have to agree that the pair of 112s gives you flexibility and that is why I have singles but by the same token I've only ever gigged once with a single cab (though I do rehearse with a single), I always double up for gigs... they are defo greater than the sum of the two parts!

Check the same listing again... bliddy students have gone and lost a chuffin guitar now, bet they know where the xbox 360 and the beer is though!
Here's a Q... If you a LM250 & an LMII & you put a 2x10 4Ω cab on the LM250 & the same make & model of cab, but 8Ω on the LMII, would there be any noticeable differences (I know the LMII puts out more than 250w @ 8Ω, but is it gonna make a noticeable difference)? I'm guessing yes as the LMII will still have that little more. So best idea would be to sell the hypothetical 4Ω cab & get another identical 8Ω one so more air can be moved!
The first part... very little difference (iirc the LMII puts out 300w @ 8ohms). The second part... x2 8ohm cabs with hypothetically double the number of drivers as a single 4ohm cab (I am assuming here that you aren't talking about comparisons between say a 4x10 4 ohm cab and a pair of 1x10 cabs or something equally mismatched) will certainly move more air and would be my preferred option. However, if you are talking about comparisons between say a single 2x12 4 ohm cab and a pair of 1x12's @ a combined ohmage of 4 ohms then I wouldn't say there'd be much difference ESPECIALLY if you are comparing cabs from the same manufacturer (Aggie DB212 v Aggie DB112 x2).

Not much difference but in real terms it's a little uncomfortable when you have a 250w amp virtually max'd... a 500w amp at the same 'perceived volume' just feels better. I've first hand experience of this (inc' quite recently) and I have to say it isn't nice when you know you are clipping your 250w amp to get enough volume; switching to a 500w amp (mid gig recently) and it does feel like you have the potential to go almost twice as loud even though the maths of it dictates that it can't be the case!
Thats nothing, if you're talking about unneccessary holes destroying a fine bass, take a look at the pics this guy has on this ad... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1956-Fender-Precisio...=item1c17db2a78 Makes you cry!!
"There are two tiny spring loaded pins inserted in the back of the upper and lower horns of the instrument, presumably so the previous owner could set the bass on a flat surface without nicking the finish. " I nearly wet myself at that one! Reading the description without looking at the pictures you could 'almost' overlook his mention of the 33 holes drilled in it!

WARWICK STREAMER STAGE 2 1997 LIKE NEW
warwickhunt replied to fernandobicho's topic in Basses For Sale
Sold at eBay..... : ( thanks
Why the sad face? Likewise I'm about to make a sale on ebay (of a high end Warwick) and at the end of the day a sale is a sale no matter where it happens! In fact I'm sure you'll be getting more on ebay for your SSII than you would on BC. -
I'll say £2.5K (maybe plus a gnat's bollock).
Phew! Well it's already £500 over what I thought a collector might pay.

Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar £175 (£190 posted) SOLD
warwickhunt replied to Beedster's topic in Basses For Sale
LOL, nice try. Weight wise this one's the heavier of the two John, although being small bodies they tend to be lighter than Precisions or Jazzes anyway (the other Jag is stupidly light, and I mean stupidly). I'll check it on the scales later on and get back to you. Happy to upgrade it for you, I've a Badass II and a SD Quarterpounder P/J sitting around somewhere C
Odd how you can get two identical basses (especially modern ones) and they can differ so much in weight! So... chuck the SD P/J pups and the Hipshots in the lightest one (you can keep the BA as I know what you are like with them and you'll need it for your next project ) and I'll have it... Oh and a nice fresh set of flats (pyramid golds if you please) clinches the deal! -
Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar £175 (£190 posted) SOLD
warwickhunt replied to Beedster's topic in Basses For Sale
Having found myself looking at £150 PUPs on ebay last night and also considering a John East preamp, I think this baby had better go after all. It will otherwise cost me a bloody fortune (I've spent a couple of hundred on the other Jag as it is)
Stop messing about and get some money spent on it Chris... then I'll have it off you in a flash (what does it weigh btw)! <edit> Ooops forgot to add the smiley! -
10 1bs - semi hollow so not particularly heavy - would say medium just tried her on with a 2" nylon strap - no more neck dive than my fender p bass
Thanks for the prompt reply. A bit more weight than I'm used to I'm afraid. An unusual take on the P bass so I'm sure you'll have someone sniffing soon, good luck.

RARE: Thunderfunk Tfb-550-A like new.
warwickhunt replied to Grossmit's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Sorry but I'm a bit confused on the specs of this & I'm really no Thunderfunk expert It's not a 750 as it doesn't have some of the feature set & it doesn't generate 750w at 4ohms (or 900 at 2ohms!). So that means it's a new 550 (which Dave doesn't usually make any more as he concentrates on the 750)? Also - does it have the famous TF 'switch' ?
I have to confess that as a Thunderfunk user it is just as confusing for me! The 550 produces (unsurprisingly) 550w into 4 ohms and isn't recommended to 2ohms... exactly the same as the amp for sale. The last TFB550B amps have/had a red push button switch located next to the power switch and labelled SS/Tube. However, the earlier TFB550(A) is equipped with an unmarked regular flick switch to the top right of the front facing... exactly like the amp for sale. One has to assume that as the buyer is selling a nearly new amp that Dave produced this amp after the production of 550's stopped and used an early face plate, hence 'the switch' being of the early variety. -
What are they in the UK? Maybe the biggest difference is the fact that the RH450 is slightly cheaper in the Netherlands vs. UK.
Approx 20% though as you say if the initial price is lower in Holland than the UK then it'd explain why it has been attractive to order from the States. Though that has to be a ridiculous scenario when a Danish Co. can export their products to The States and sell them cheaper than in a European country!
Not all Warwick truss rods are created equal I have never had any issues of this nature with four Warwicks I've had. And I messed with the truss rods quite a lot.
+1 I've owned... LOADS of Warwicks ( ) and I have to say that despite hearing of the dreaded truss rod affliction that wrecks Warwick basses, I've yet to have issue with a rod. Actually, I take that back; I had one Warwick that the owner had used a cheap badly fitting allen key on and it did chew the adjuster a bit... mainly because the plonker hadn't sussed in the first 1/8 - 1/4 of a twist that the rod acted in reverse to the norm. The bass came to me with the biggest bow/highest action in the world and a disgruntled owner professing that he couldn't twist the rod any further no matter how hard he tried! 5 minutes later after relaxing the rod right off (using a good quality allen key and some care), I had a flat fingerboard and a stammering owner standing next to me professing that it was all the fault of the manufacturer.
Well, if I calculate what the cheapest price on ebay is for an RH450 (approx. 400 euro + 65 euro shipping) and add all the import duties in the Netherlands, it is only 100 euro cheaper than what I'd pay for it at my local music store (which is literally around the corner). For that small difference I prefer to support my local vendor, and have the assurance that I can walk to them when any problems might occur.
What are the import duties in Holland? It's a significant saving in the UK, especially if it slips through the HMC&E net.

We've had a couple pass through BC... wonder if it is a BCer that has had it stolen or if it is a bass that has previously belonged to a BCer! Not the commonest bass around and certainly not in that colour.
-
The seller is about 5 mile from me (even closer to cd_david) though I have no idea who said seller is! 'IF' anyone was serious about this and they want me to check that the guy actually possesses it, give me a shout; though I would have to stress, I give no guarantee that I can verify authenticity of a vintage Fender V (though after 30 years of playing, I can probably spot the glaringly obvious)!

Watched the 1st prog but missed 2nd. Love hearing and watching early Queen stuff but there is that point in their career where they went too mainstream and lost it for me... IMHO.
i suppose you could soup up a squier, no problem with that but it still wont be a fender or sound near enough as good.
Why shouldn't it sound anywhere near as good? As for still not being a Fender... the inclusion of the word Fender on the headstock does not in itself dictate that a bass is better than a copy of said bass!
The cabs being in opposite polarity will only affect the real bottom in the sound - plugging a reversed polarity cab in will add the usual extra loudness from the low-mids upwards but the sound will get thinner at the same time. Correct the polarity and the true bottom returns but nothing really changes above the low frequency region. I have a reverse polarity lead in the workshop for testing so I'm very familar with its effects!
+1 and as a result the volume will 'appear' quieter, certainly in comparison to a correct polarity 2x10 combo. However, there could be numerous reasons for an apparent lack of volume/clout but I wouldn't be thinking first and foremost that it was a lack of mids from the GS cabs as there's not a massive amount of difference from say the DBs and from when I've heard them in use they 'should' be wiping the floor with a 2x10 MAG combo. As for flat not being flat - iirc if the Eden is modelled on the passive tone whats-its-face like say the Alembic preamp (as per the Hartke 500), then with everything at 12.00 it will actually be boosting a bit of mids won't it?
