  1. I went through this with some Jazz Bass knobs and got it wrong, twice! The first thing to establish is what are the pots you’ve had fitted. More specifically, the diameter of the shaft and are they solid or split shaft. If split shaft, how many splines? If you count the splines on each side you should add 1 per side to account for the spline which would have been where the gap is. Once you know the spec, it should be easier to find the right knobs.
  2. You’d better get your skates on then. 27 mins to go!
  3. Don’t know if this helps?
  4. Gotta put a shout in for Stuart Morrow on this album:
  5. Funnily enough I had the same thoughts the other way round, putting a maple neck from a PB50 on a PB20. I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t work on Fender basses withou making changes because the shape of the neck/pocket on the earlier models was squared rather than rounded. Whether Harley Benton went to lengths of replicating the shapes in their examples is not clear from their web site. I kind of abandoned the idea before it got off the ground but it would still be interesting to know if it’s possible.
  6. More good stuff from Ellen Alaverdyan and her dad:
  7. It’s usually a function of your browser. Check the browser settings.
  8. I think you’ll find that won’t work at all. The latency will make it unplayable. The Boss Waza Air gets around this by using other non-Bluetooth wireless technology. The NuX MP-2 Mighty Plug is a good contender at around £50. It does has Bluetooth to connect a phone to as an aux device to stream music to play along to (where latency is not an issue) and to run the app that controls the device.
  9. Whilst it was lumped in with punk as a genre it really stood apart from others in that group IMO. The keyboards alone made it different and many songs had fairly traditional roots. Take the opening bass line from Princess of the Streets, which is basically a descending blues scale.
  10. That just happened to be my last acquisition of 2021 a couple of weeks ago. Not sure why I got it but I guess I was just satisfying curiosity and to beat my self-imposed anti-GAS embargo for next year.
  11. I’ve also been planning a year of abstinence but then I remembered that I’ve put a deposit on a Backbeat II so I’ll probably be buying that at the very least.
  12. Thanks for the recommendation. I’m just listening to this now. Really nice; haunting is a good description. 😊
  13. @WinterMute and @NancyJohnson Thanks, that's really helpful. 😊
  14. Just so that I understand correctly, are you saying it’s best to record the bass dry straight from a DI signal and then apply any treatment afterwards, including EQ? Also, what about compression, record with or without? (Just for reference, my previous recording experience goes back to the early 80s using 8 or 16 track analogue equipment and physical outboard gear etc., so some of the concepts that I understand may no longer apply In this new world of DAWs, VSTS an amp/cab sims etc.)
  15. I’ve never been drawn to Coldplay, probably for all of the reasons already mentioned. However, I did come across this cover version which I really liked and it was only much later that I discovered it was a Coldplay song. I prefer this to the original.
  16. Whilst I’m not averse to a bit of tort, I think black would work best with that colour body.
  17. I refer the honourable gentleman to earlier reply on this matter 😉
  18. And butchered the nut!
  19. This is my exact experience too! Fortunately I’ve since retired so I can permanently avoid the damn thing now.
  20. How about Cello strings on a bass?
  21. Would monitoring on headphones be a more reasonable way to achieve a consistent sound as this would remove any issues with speaker placement or room acoustics? Or does that present some other challenges?
  22. It’s a work of art! Truly astounding. 👏🏼
  23. Here’s an interesting article on the history of dub: - https://www.masterclass.com/articles/dub-music-guide Keith Hudson gets a mention and he’s one of first dub artists I came across. His Pick A Dub and Brand albums are worth a listen. Lots of old school tape echo and spring reverb in evidence.
  24. I’m also thinking about this and will follow along with interest (also trying to stay away from going down the BC rabbit hole and spend more time learning, practicing and playing - that will be my new year’s resolution).
