For the last few weeks my FB feed has continuously features a guitar pick with kind of triangular/pyramid shape lumps on the surface (surface which strokes the string, not the gripping surface) This thread comes up so I pop over to FB to find it and post here. Is it in my feed? No. What are the odds eh 😃!

I never upgrade my gear, just do essential maintenance and repairs. Not that I have any objection to upgrades in principal, I'm just a) not knowledgeable enough about pick-ups and so on to make an informed upgrade and b) too worried about the OP's point... it not being worth it. The biggest/only upgrade I can think of is adding a strap button to the heel of an acoustic guitar... very cheap, very easy and defiantly an improvement.

I’d never heard it before either… I’d assumed it was Geordie though due to Nadine’s location.

NME Reports that Adam Clayton has been criticised for comments he made about the bass in a Phil Lynot doc. Clayton: One thing you need to know about the bass is it’s that big, heavy thing that hangs down between your legs Clayton: The bass is this secret weapon. It’s where the power comes from. It looks in a groove with the drum kit – the drums and the bass gives you that nice, kind of sexy wiggle of the hips. And then all the other kind of girly stuff sits on top, but we are the men of the band Indie artist Nadine Shah responded: “Adam Clayton is a f***ing spenk. My ‘girly stuff’ 5h1ts on what you do.” Can't seem to get a link to the NME page.

The ten best Bassists in the world in 2021.
Nail Soup replied to Mickyk's topic in General Discussion
I think that these types of list are a load of rubbish, and will maintain that view until such time as I find a list which features my favourite bassist at number one . At which point I’ll start a thread on Basschat to tirelessly argue the absolute truth of said list. -
I went to a folk festival a couple of years ago and there was a couple of incidents of parent allowing, nay, encouraging kids to play along to the act on percussion instruments. In one case a woman in front of the kid (it was a sit on the floor kind of thing - must have been right in her ear) leant back and asked him to stop. Kid was about 4 and stopped. Kid’s mum taps him on the shoulder and tells him that he doesn’t have to stop . He didn’t start again. Well done that woman it sounded bloody awful.

The ten best Bassists in the world in 2021.
Nail Soup replied to Mickyk's topic in General Discussion
Probably not…… if it was compiled by the the non bass playing public there’s no way they would have named as many as ten😃 -
At the time I would (and probably did) have looked at that line up and thought “what a bunch of old codgers”! Fast forward to now and I do go and watch my fair share of heritage acts, who are far older than that lot were back then!

You can say that again!

I'd got on OK with Studio One up to that point. Now I could not in good faith recommend Studio One to anyone, at least not without a warning. Because of the non-backwards compatible Amp upgrade.... pretty short-sighted of them really.
-
I reckon more like a centre-back or something, in that the non-footballing public have a reasonable understanding of what the goalie’s role is, even if they underestimate the importance. In that sense the drummer is the goalie.

Filling out the sound with no rhythm guitar

One other thing to consider is the guitarists settings.... could the issue be (partially) resolved the he/she used a boost pedal or echo etc during solo? -
I was having a bad time with Studio One DAW. I'd upgraded to a paid version so I could add plug-ins - specifically an Amplitude Fender collection to augment the standard Studio one amps. Then I found that the old amps didn't exist in the new Studio One due to a non-backwards-compatible upgrade. So I can't play the old songs in the new DAW... I have to keep both. To make things even worse the Amplitube didn't work in Studio One - only worked as a stand-alone app. The new one only had a couple of amps included So I had to buy a Studio One upgrade to get some more amps. But still not backward compatible 😞 But now I got a new PC and finished loading the DAW and plugins.... and the Amplitube is working now!!! (still not backward compatible with the old songs.... but hey!) I'm really pleased and just wanted to share!!!

I’d say it was more of an aft/stern situation.
