  1. I imagine she will be ok on the beat though😃
  2. Yes. I can’t think of a single thing about bass playing which would give one a greater affinity with steel guitar than musicians in general.
  3. Going well outside of my music theory comfort zone here, but doesn’t the bugle just play the simple harmonic notes of the scale…. And therefore could be played using harmonics on bass? Just thinking out loud ……..
  4. I reckon it could work. Maybe with tone not too bassy and bit of honk/sustain. Googling only gave a link to the bass tab for a Libertines song which has Last Post in the title!
  5. I reckon the chord-button device could have some use….. for example if you need the singer to bang out a couple of chords in a couple of songs. Also it might be able to play some stuff not possible/easy otherwise… for example you could make a little riff by strumming C and simultaneously pressing D on the fourth beat or whatever.
  6. The “what shirt” decision is agonised over by some of us you know!
  7. There’s something for people who don’t want to learn to pick too
  8. Jeez, not even as if that record is particularly associated with Strats.
  9. Similar to what I was thinking....... What is the policy for such as the OP's drummer if for example someone in the support band is smoking weed during the load in?
  10. Another take on Visconti's role
  11. Similar case of audience using the stage as personal storage area..... I saw Robyn Hitchcock recently and a woman marched up to the stage during break between sets and put her large handbag on the bass players pedal board. His face was picture when he got back on stage!
  12. I know what you mean 🙂 But I'm going for............................... BEST!
  13. Another contender (sorry I already put Amyl and the Sniffers) is the new album by Swedish psych band Goat. It is a new release, but the music is unreleased material from before they went on hiatus. So I think it counts!
  14. Exactly- if he had shown some examples where the bass tone was actually off and discussed why then it could have been enlightening. With the obligatory “Hey, but the rules are there to be broken” section of course.
  15. Just thought - I did once go to a works do and a duo was playing called "The Peas" who did covers of popular songs on : double bass/vocals and acoustic guitar/vocals (bass drum). Added instrumentation in the form of Kazoo's, mouth trumpets, melodica, beat box. They were good fun, and sounded good. They are based in south of England by the looks, so not sure if they would travel. Music starts after about a minute. www.trevorgeorge.co.uk/act/the-peas/
  16. Sounds like a good idea for a band..but the punk would be even better 🙂 ! Congratulations and good luck! Only advice I can think of is that such a band may not think of themselves as a "wedding band" so maybe avoid searches for wedding bands and look for R&R or whatever.
  17. I reckon most of those songs could be in a list called "songs where the bass player got the tone spot-on" and it would have made more sense.
  18. Don’t know. If no one else identifies it within 24 hours you probably imagined it. And therefore wrote it 😃👍!
  19. I thought the argument was going to be about the guitarist drinking a can of lager for a few bars cos they had an open tuned guitar
  20. Ahem........ (OK, I know she joined after the classic albums)
  21. I might go for that as my next album purchase👍
  22. Reminds me of old Les Dawson joke, paraphrased below: Bass Player 1: At our last gig three blokes from the audience jumped on stage and beat up our lead singer. Bass Player 2: Didn't you help? Bass Player 1: No, I thought three would be enough!
  23. And awkwardly walked back in a couple of minutes later to pick up your car keys?
  24. Often google is a better search. I searched “basschat sessions” and newfoundfreedoms thread was second.
  25. At the risk of sounding like one of those old Stevie Wonder jokes, visually impaired musicians seem to manage it. But agree it's helpful in general.
