  1. Yeah, that’s it, lol! cheers!
  2. The Dancing in the Street vid was featured in full as a cutaway in Family Guy. Anyone remember the comment afterwards? I remember “that happened” not sure what else.
  3. So that is a special “lead vocalist” monitor. What it really needs is a feature to pump adoring crowd comments to them!
  4. I wonder if, ahem, ‘little Jim’ made an appearance?
  5. I’d like to say ‘unbelievable’ but it’s all too likely.
  6. As Pick player who can do one finger if really needed, even thinking of that makes my head spin.
  7. On my six-string with whammy bar (I won't say tremolo) I tune it twice or maybe more. By the time I get to the last string the tremolo (OK I said it) spring has moved and the first strings are slightly out, so needs a second pass though. Or given all the stuff said above maybe it doesn't really! Broken string puts it way out if you try to carry on with 5 strings.
  8. Is a bell(end) necessary on a bicycle?
  9. I've heard worse from official band members. And seen less stage presence too.
  10. Quite a few 'one fret' songs too.
  11. To paraphrase an old joke: Give a bass-player two fingers and tell them to take their pick.
  12. Been listening to a few recommended tracks after Alan sad passing. Indeed those do have great bass sound and presence with the aforementioned drive. Occurred to me that the guitar parts in Quo allow 'space for the bass' - generally using a pair of Telecasters.
  13. I don’t have any finger technique aardvark by default it’s a pick. If something needs fingers then I’ll get by with a Jameson style single finger. Never needed two yet but if I did probs couldn’t.
  14. Is that Mike Rutherford? If so, looking kinda cool in his old age!
  15. Not sure that Dee Dee played it one one string, but stuff like Blitzkreig Bop springs to mind.
  16. Hayseed Dixie maybe?
  17. Strange that the O’Neils went from the Undertones to this. Like them both though.
  18. How about Teenage Jesus and the Jerks? 1978 so early for post punk.
  19. Yes, the Strictly band are really good. The problem is that I tend to focus on how they are handling the song and not noticing the dancing🙄.
  20. I don’t have any gigs as a player at the mo anyway. But I do have two gigs next week (one music, one comedy) as a punter and wondering if they’ll go ahead. Sorry to hear your situation.
  21. I remember forming band with a mate, and discussing the musical style. Grunge was the new thing at the time... we thought about going that route but decided against as we considered that grunge had peaked in popularity with "Superfuzz Bigmuff" and a few others - and was downhill from then on. Next thing we knew Nevermind exploded and took it to virtually mainstream popularity.
  22. I noticed that when it came to the subject of Kurt's death, there was no comment from Krist Novoselic. I think Krist was closer to Kurt than anyone else, their relationship went back pre-Nirvana. Probably too raw subject for him, even now.
  23. I get a massive leap of tuning accuracy by switching from "by ear" to a tuner. Any subsequent finessing within electric tuners is pointless for the reasons explained in the OP (and even temperament too I guess).
  24. Best day ever? I'll stick with the OP premise that the best day can be defined by simultaneous album releases. I'd need to find the release date of all my favourite albums/artists plus some other classic/landmark albums and see how they lined up. I'll let you know when I've done that. Don't hold your breathe!
