  1. I don't like it when someone says to turn a screw, knob, key or other rotational device to the right or left.
  2. It may be inaccurate, but it's not ambiguous. People would know what you meant even if it annoyed them 😃!
  3. I always get confused by stuff like that - top and bottom strings in instruments for example. I can also never quite get which is the inside or outside lane on a motorway, or if moving a meeting forward makes it earlier or later. So a big “yes” from me to saying ‘neck’ and ‘bridge’!
  4. It was Pink Floyd’s guitar tech who thought of freezing the cables? Sounds more like something that would come from the mind of Syd Barrett!
  5. Might take a while to get over the initial shock, but hearing yourself helps you to sing better. So go for it. The suggestion about a vocal session is good too. We used to try it sometimes if the (non singing) drummer couldn’t make a rehearsal. And yes, holding back doesn’t help in the end. good luck and go for it!
  6. I guess it's a bit chicken and egg really. Sharing tends to encourage longevity , but risky if you think they'll leave anyway.
  7. Siouxsie and the Banshees debut album The Scream… here’s Mirage
  8. Chubby and the Gang, Bedford, Friday 26 Should be good punky fun!
  9. I read a survey of once of women asked what would be a major turn off in a new partner’s bedroom . The top (I think) answer was a football team themed duvet. I think we eclipsed that!
  10. I'd need to be having one hell of a good day to find that ad appealing. .............in fact smiling to myself now just imagining such a day 😉!
  11. Suppose she might have listened to some of the stuff I posted on "what are you listening to"😃
  12. Is that the Royal 'We' 😉?
  13. In the case of Andy Summers of The Police, that part is used in lots of adverts etc and he doesn't get a royalty. (If I understandcorrectly)
  14. Some interesting (but off-topic) discussion on the Adam Clayton thread about individual song writing credits (e.g. U2) , so maybe continue in this thread. What do you think about crediting the whole band for example? Anyone have any direct experience? Any other points, opinions, stories, examples etc around songwriting credits?
  15. If they want to de-select people who use the wrong media to reply then that is their choice, no problem. But it is going to far to mention the policy in the ad. So it would be a ‘no’ from me.
  16. Exactly what I was thinking is part of the motivation for bands who share.
  17. The first few Ramones albums were jointly credited, but after a while they started individual credits - even though the song writing was always mainly single member or sometimes two-member. They weren't best mates by the end as far as I can tell.
  18. I suspect that to some extent he is being paid to "not contribute". I'm sure equality, that they are school friends etc also plays a part. If royalties are based on contribution then it is an incentive for members to make unnecessary contributions or 'shoe-horn' songs on the album. For Bono and The Edge it probably makes long-term sense for them to do a four way split.
  19. Deleted comment because it was irrelevant. How much further off topic was it than outside toilets 😀?
  20. I'm getting quite a few feeds for bone conducting headphones - not sure if it's a real splurge or maybe just because I clicked on the first one. So what do you think - are there benefits or what? One of the ads suggest using them for cycling as then your ears are still open.
  21. I don't really listen to U2 , so thanks for posting the example. I took a listen and AC does great job on that, great bass sound and probably the main hook in the song. Don't see the problem.
  22. Inspiration Initially tried to do some thing free-form and moony sounding, but scrapped it and wrote something song-based on the acoustic with moon based lyrics. But even that ended up sounding completely different when transferred to electric guitar etc. Tech: all the usual: Daw: Studio One , Drums: Red Zep programmed via piano roll, Bass: Vantage, Guitar: Squier Tele, Vox :Shure SM58
  23. “Dubba dubba dubba cha”- Reg Presley, The Troggs.
  24. I think if you are thinking about sound ( as most people are) then tuner doesn’t count as a pedal. However if you are thinking about less clutter on stage or something then it’s different.
  25. I think what you said probably applies to any thread 😃!
