Can't remember which one, but one of Chemical Brothers best known songs is based on an old song by 23 Skidoo. I thought the CB track was great and went back to check the 23S original figuring that it would be even better. Not so, much prefer the CB song, they made much more of a good bassline than 23 Skidoo did. I think of CB as musicians who work with samples creatively. But even that is going back a few years!

I thought Steve Albini was a right pillock for calling one of his bands Rapeman (after a Japanese 'superhero' comic apparently) I wouldn't buy or otherwise endorse a band with that name.

Another thing with players such as Harris. What we think of as the Harris style, he may think of as just the Maiden style.. and play differently in a different context. These players may actively want to get away from their ‘day job’ style.

I suppose the distinctive players are influential, so makes it hard to say it’s actually them. But I’ll say Peter Hook.

She is Joy Crookes and her joining in was a last minute thing, without rehearsal except a run-through backstage.

Apart from Jools, and moving to the morning : woke up and put the BBC sounds app on the phone. I was part way through a 3 hour tribute show to Lee Perry. So it was a bunch of Lee Perry stuff. Good start to the year.

Not sure , but it was on Jools Holland . Therefore probably could have been the same thing any year.

The guitars are all classics, and look good as well. The bass was a "basses can be pretty too" choice.

I guess some ambiguity comes from lots of YouTube vids which describe a playalong as a “drum cover” or “bass cover”
