  1. My back isn't getting any better so I am selling one of my Trace Elliot heads in favour of a more lightweight alternative. I believe this is the AH-300 with the GP12 SMX preamp. I bought it on here a few years ago and it has been my main gigging amp for that time. Monster of a head, as loud as anything you'll want and this amp is bursting with heft because of the proper Trace Elliot watts (etc etc). I have never had the master above 3 even when used on its own without pa support. All the usual superlatives, in fact, especially when it comes to how loud it is. Comes with nice long kettle lead and one of obbm's lorry towing jack to right angle speakon cab leads. Mounted into a Gator ABS rack case and, with the leads tucked neatly inside, weighs in at a perfectly reasonable 13.1kg. I found it made a decently balanced carry in with this in one hand and my Barefaced Supercompact in the other. Such a shame my back is no longer perfectly reasonable. Did I say it was loud? Price is £150 firm collected from Benfleet in Essex, could possibly meet up or deliver for fuel costs within a reasonable radius of Benfleet. But I am not prepared to courier this so please don't ask.
  2. I am selling my Tecamp Puma 300. It is one of the early german ones. Approximately the size and weight of a paperback novel so will fit into the pocket of a gig bag. A loud 300W into 4Ohm. 4 band eq, taste knob that alters the tone from modern to vintage or something. For me everything at 12 o'clock is just fine. Whisper quiet, no fan. In very good nick, everything works as it should. I bought this at the start of the year for home practice, rehearsals and the smallest gigs with a Barefaced One10 and it is absolutely great for this. I discovered that it is loud enough - just - for slightly bigger gigs with my loud blues band using my Barefaced Supercompact but there is not quite enough headroom for my liking. It would be fine with 2 cabs but I prefer using one cab mostly. So I have bought a Puma 500, which is flexible enough to cover all my requirements, meaning this is now surplus to requirements. This and the Quilter Bassblock are the only two mini-sized amps that I have been able to get on with. They have, er, heft. Love them both for different reasons and will most likely alternate them for gigging. Selling this with mains lead, speakon-speakon cab lead, box and packaging from the 500 but not with the extra gig bag. I am asking £250 £225 posted to mainland UK. You are welcome to call in and try out/collect from benfleet in Essex, in which case it would be £240 £215 Which I believe is something of a bargain Not looking for trades at the moment, thanks. And price is firm so please don't ask what my lowest is. I have taken one pic to prove it is here - it looks like a Tecamp Puma in good nick
  3. I bought a Tecamp Puma 500 from Florin in the most straightforward of transactions. He was out of the country but I picked it up from his housemate, who I paid. No issues. Good deal, thanks Florin.
  4. I've seen him a few times over the past few years - in Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and on his own at the Apex Theatre in Bury St Edmunds. The man is a god. Speaking of the Apex, I saw the James Taylor Quartet there a couple of weeks back - superb.
  5. The new Gibson Les Paul Jnr DC is very light, not at home to confirm how light but from memory under 8lbs. 30" scale, sounds like a Gibson 😊
  6. I wouldn't say mine were mistakes, per se - more collateral damage from multiple 'epiphany moments' Like changing from roundwound strings to flats, back to rounds and now back to flats again. Going from 4 strings to 5 strings and now having both. Going from long scale to short scale to medium scale to long scale and now all of them. All incredibly good experience. And fun. But I really don't want to think in terms of money spent.
  7. Played a new place in Ipswich town centre, The Mannings, with my blues rock trio. First half was pretty quiet, second half folks were really behind us. Couple of guys came up to us at the end and said they heard us from the other end of town and came in to listen, said some nice things. As we were packing down a mahoosive fight broke out just outside the pub - people rolling around on the wet pavement, even on our cars! 4 police cars and 3 arrests later it was safe to stow our gear
  8. My blues rock trio are playing at The Mannings, Ipswich tonight. Kickoff around 9pm. Not played there before, looking forward to it! Footage from our last gig - Texas Flood at the Ipswich Maritime Festival
  9. No contest as far as I can see. Nevermind defined a new music genre and in its way changed the direction of contemporary music.
  10. I was actually joking I don't like ALL rap but I like some. I don't like ALL jazz but I like some. etc.
  11. There are just good and bad songs, I would never dismiss an entire genre of work, rather mine out the good stuff. Except rap, obvs.
  12. I find myself in the position of having a better dep - hiram.k.hackenbacker is standing in for me for the next 2 Just Jovi gigs. Warren is a better player than I'll ever be but I feel relieved, not threatened, by this as it means I can relax and not worry about letting the band down by not being free. Plus all the guys in the band know him so for them it will be like putting on a pair of old slippers.
  13. Having dipped out on a technical trade early on I dived head first into a resounding pool of fail after rediscovering the joys of 4 string basses - egged on by the fact that I can, against expectation, happily swap between 4 and 5. So my 5 string Dr Jekyll is still in the game but my 4 string Mr Hyde is an embarrassment.
  14. Another Quilter BB800 fan here. I've started using mine in preference to the Trace Elliot heads I have as it is just so easy to shift about and set up. Put it through a Barefaced Supercompact and it has, er, heft. The gain on these is useful because you can control the breakup point very nicely to reach that 'overdriven but not distorted' vibe.
  15. Just remembered spare picks, if you use them.
  16. All those. Strap. If you use an EQ pedal of some sort that has a DI that could get you out of trouble if you didn't have or want to take a spare amp and your PA had enough beans to take the bass. I keep a multi-tool thingy in my bag, too.
  17. When I was looking I couldn't find a lightweight, narrow string spacing 5er Precision so for the past 18 months have been enjoying this rather spendid Mah-roos-chick Jake 5. Weighs in at an even 8lbs.
  18. I did this. I used a desk hole punch then opened it up for the dots. Trouble was on the stuff I bought the sticky on the back wasn't sticky enough and they ended up either falling off or unsticking/resticking all over the neck as I played Also they didn't stay luminous for long. I had a UV torch that I charged them up with during set up but by the time we played the glow had faded. I also tried luminous paint, that wasn't very successful, either.
  19. I don't get nudity - full stop. On stage, on beaches, in the back garden - wherever. In public I understand there can be an element of exhibitionism. Sometimes a need to shock. Which I find rather pathetic. But around the house or in the garden? What's the point?
  20. I thought this was a continuation of the 'on stage nudity' post....
  21. To think Daltry once had one of the best voices out there.
  22. I think that is nonsense, to be honest. I've had more than my fair share crap heavy basses and currently own some superb lightweight ones.
  23. 9th. 😁 I could pop it over on 15th or, if you would like to fiddle with it before then, I could drop it round to you at home if you PM me your address. All I have to do is find the box and instructions, which are somewhere in the loft........
  24. To be perfectly honest I have only used it once at a gig. I've spent longer programming it than using it! It seems to do the job. With Setlist Maker I have it so one footswitch moves onto the next song, the other to scroll through the notes. I can't see me getting much use out of it - seemed like a good idea at the time You are welcome to borrow it and, if it does what you are looking for, I'd sell it to you for not much. Although I suspect you've already pulled the trigger
  25. Warren, I have an Air Turn Ped Pro that I use with Setlist Maker on my Android tablet. No idea if it will work with your gear - I think it would - but you are most welcome to use it to find out.
