TI flats for me, too - I have them on everything. They cut through just nicely with a bit of drive as shown on this vid.

I believe that if you play them all in rotation then the muscle memory kicks in quickly and, eventually, becomes an automatic thing. I have played a Uke bass, 30", 32", 34" - fretted and fretless - and EUB over the last few years and nowdays don't have much problem switching between them. So that's the kiss of death, just there. Next time I pick up a 34" fretless I'll be all over the place

Bought another one of John's finest looms. Got in just in time before he poisoned himself with foraged mushrooms. Thanks again!

Any P bass people want to comment on this?

Cheese puns? No whey! -
I had an issue when I bought an amp, it arrived and was clearly B stock with signs of wear and use. I was keen to keep the amp but wanted a partial refund to reflect the condition and it was a real struggle. Had I just returned it everything would have been fine, so that is what I learnt after that instance - don't try to chase a solution that is outside of their standard procedures.

Zombie thread. On a complete impulse I bought what was listed as an Encore bass, made in Korea in 1978. It is black, double cut-away with a split humbucker a la Precision, short scale. Body is fairly thin, made of ply, black finish. Headstock inlay looks nice, I'd guess mother-of-toilet seat, same as the fret marker dots. Looks exactly like this, in fact (but not mine): When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised as it seems solidly put together and the neck isn't half bad. And featherlite at around 3kg. There are a number of issues with the electrics but it was my intention to do an electrics transplant anyway which would give me a cheap back-up for my Gibson LP Jnr DC but with a slightly Fender flavour, perhaps. Anyway, does anyone know anything about these particular models? Made in Korea in 1978 seems randomly specific and rather old - is that likely? Not that it matters, just curious.

Excellent. Thank you - I'll give it a go.

Interesting, that would remove that small issue.

Hi Kev Well, I've had no issues with either so they compare favourably that way. The Boss is certainly easier to use. I occasionally brush my right hand against the bug on surface mounted input jack basses and sometimes catch against it on edge mounted jacks but that is offset by the simplicity of using it and not having the transmitter unit attached to the strap. So far I don't regret changing to the Boss, anyway

I think most rehearsal studios still have advertising boards so stick a 'band mates wanted' card in them?

I think anything put out into the public domain is in play as far as 'critique' is concerned, tbh. Whether or not he deserves some of the harsh words or not is totally subjective but if he doesn't like it he shouldn't publish it/try to sell it.

Well, according to my ears when I actually owned one it was plenty loud enough through a Supercompact. Like I say, ignore the stats - there have been plenty of discussion on here about how loud various amps are, regardless of the stats.
-
I had one of the 500s. It was much louder than the statistics would have you believe. Especially as you can switch output between 8 and 4Ohm loads. Can't imagine any scenario where you'd need 1000W with one of these.

Squier Vista Musicmaster. "Project".....
Paul S replied to solo4652's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I suspect the motive is increasing the search parameters rather than 'upbranding' - if you search for Fender this would pop up in the results. Then the punter would think 'Gosh, I was going to buy a Fender but this Chinese Squier came up and I think I'll buy that!' Although, tbf, I have previously owned both a '79 Fender Musicmaster and a 'Vista Series' Squier Musicmaster and preferred the latter. -
Eurosender will do UK>UK and fully insure instruments, I've sent a couple with no issues, plus some valuable plants. Now a 10% discount via the Basschat link Beaten to it.

Yup. Winch all day and not flag.

Another vote for Quilter bassblock and BF Supercompact.

Sorry, John, it was a feeble attempt at humour. Yes, your memory is spot on. I am next driving along the A303 at the end of May next year and for the same reason. Probably a bit too far into the future. If it makes any difference to anyone I am driving up to Leeds on 25th October, down from Hull on 29th. Then to Worcester and back on 9th November. -
