1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdGPhQPATPg A wee video ofmyg band from Austin Texas, at South by South West this year. Great fun... considerin it was at half 3 in the afternoon!
  2. I use a zoom MS-60B as a preamp at the end of my effects chain. I run a graphic EQ with the 50hz slider all the way down. As others have said, it might 'sound' slightly worse at low volumes and soloed, but as soon as I am up louder and with the band it sits perfectly nice. I do though send the effected signal from my octaver through without the EQ, I just think when the octaver kicks in I still want that to be fat as f***!
  3. I honestly dont understand why you wouldnt set your sound up for the band. Thats just making you sound worse (as a band). Personally, your 'sound' should come from your playing style and note choice not from how you set up your gear. In my opinion of course.
  4. Any use for a zoom b3 in a part exchange sort of deal?
  5. few scratches, unboxed and no power supply. Decent wee distortion pedal with plenty of different noises from it. Never used it live with bass, but it sounds quite cool at home. Actually very nice with guitar though! Just moving it on as I dont really need it. Posted to your door for £25.00.... alternatively, I'm looking for a nice bass fuzz. all things considered (except the green big muff) and trade will obviously include money your way. OVERVIEW Inspired by 7 of the world's most famous distortion pedals. With the DigiTech DF-7 Distortion Factory Modeling Pedal you can have a satisfying smorgasbord of 7 screaming effects pedals in one stomp box. Distortion pedals are as important to the world of guitar playing as guitar playing is to modern music. So how do you get a whole spectrum of distortion tones? You can spend a fortune on individual stompboxes (and have a pedal board the size of Pennsylvania) or you can put the X-Series DF-7 Distortion Factory to work for you. Now you can have tones from the Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, EH Big Muff pi, Pro Co Rat, Metal Zone, and DOD Overdrive/Preamp 250 with a ton of EQ control to shape their sounds the way you want them. That's because the DF-7 features 3 dual concentric tone controls so you can customize each model with High, Mid Freq, Mid, and Low EQ, in addition to Gain and Level. The DF-7 sounds so good because it isn't just pedal models. The sounds modeled are the pedal interacting with the cabinet and tube characteristics of classic amps associated with each pedal. It's this combination that truly distinguishes the DigiTech DF-7 and puts its sounds leagues beyond most distortion stompbox modelers. FEATURES

7 classic distortion stompbox models
Flexible Output Mode
Stereo outputs
Amp and CIT mixer outputs
Level/Low, Mid Frequency/Mid, Gain/High, and Distortion Model controls
Rugged cast-metal chassis
Unique carbon-fiber look
Nonskid rubber base
Model 1 based on Ibanez TS-9 with Fender 1965 Deluxe Reverb 1x12
Model 2 based on DOD Overdrive/Preamp 250 with Marshall half stack
Model 3 based on BOSS DS-1 with Johnson half stack
Model 4 based on Pro Co Rat with Fender Bassman 2x12
Model 5 based on BOSS Metal Zone with Johnson half stack
Model 6 based on DigiTech Metal Master with VHT half stack
6. My most recent pair have gone astray, I generally go through 3 or 4 pairs a year for one reason or another so I never like to pay much money for them... I normally just go for the ones that have money off and normally pay about £20 maximum. My question is, anyone got any suggestions on what to get for around the £20 mark, the ones I've bought over the years vary greatly in sound quality. I appreciate that they will never be world class, and last forever at this price point... but for the reasons stated above I'd really not be wanting to spend any more. So, any wee hidden gems out there anyone can share? Cheers
  7.
Bass into Micro Pog, then a lead from the effect only split to two, one goes to the EQ pedal and the other say to the big muff then another 2-1 splitter?
# I use a digitech BSW for an octaver, but I send the 'effected signal' to a Boss LS2 keeping the octave seperate to all the other effects. Therefore my dry signal never gets touched and the octave down is absolutely clean. Although it means I need two pedals to get the one sound, I think it does it brilliantly, and nothing else Ii;ve tried gets close to the definition. Its huge when I kick in fuzz. It also gives a ew other synthy/filtery options without losing a solid clean signal.
  8.
Dude I didn't know you were rocking a Markbass!! What did you use at SXSW? And what's been your favourite backline thus far?
Haha, aye, got it when my ampeg blew. I don't really use it for the tone though As I have my preamp on my pedal board.. Really just use it as a fancy power amp. Sxsw just used whatever was supplied, All top notch sh*t though! No 20 year old carslbro things! It was amazing!
  9. I've got theLM250 Black line (the cheapo version). It sounds decent and is loud enough for most band settings (for example its been used at the Barras and the ABC mainstages). I dont find it the most exciting of tones, but I'm sure if its coupled with the right cab then it could spring to life. Saying that, I'd still probably get the fender rumble combo!
  10. I have used my 2x10 with 250w markbass head in many a situation, and not once has it felt underpowered. I like ti roll off the real lows (via an eq pedal within my ms60b; that tends to get a bit more out it it before the speakers begin to struggle. To be honest, it's normally just used for stage monitoring anyway.

Killswitch fir example? I only ask cos my b3 tunes perfectly! I've noticed a few folk do it.

    Boss SY-300

Sounds a bit ropey to be honest. I'd like ti hear what users can get out it after months of tweaking and gigging etc, but it sounds like quite an expensive toy at the moment.
  13. I use an ms60b and a b3 in my originals band. In fact I got rid of my fuzz pedal in favour of just using the muff on the b3. It sounds perfectly good to my ears, everythingne can be balanced with some clean signal, plus if I fancy using a bit if flange rather than 'vibe' then I can. Just makes sense for me to work like this!
  14. I had one for a while, but mines did break (£30 repair though). Its super clean though, and loud. Incredible amps!
  15. This is a horrible story. I have twice left stuff begging to be stolen. Once a case of pedals and leads and the other time my bass in a car park. BHoth times they were tracked down due to really helpful folk out there. If you're still skint, IM me your address and I'll pop a kettle lead and a jack to speakon cable in the post for you. Bit of good Karma etc.
  16. I find Fuzz working better when you're not trying to sound too rocky. As in, if done right, it adds a more synthy feel to the sound. Especially with a clean octave down, you can get some real cool sounds. Thats not to say OD and Distortion are wrong, they definately have their place, but I'd say fuzz should be treated as an 'effect' whereas I see the other two used to colour your existing tone. Dont' know if that makes any sense.
  17. I use it occasionally when the bass hasnt been used for a week or so. It certainly doesnt leave things all greasy IME.
  18. If you do half your gigs through house amps or direct through PA, then a preamp makes perfect sense. It means you use whatever amp basically as a power amp, and you use your pedal board for the tone shaping. Means that you'll sound moreor less the same at every gig (which for me is a good thing). Also, your other effects like fuzz will sound infinitely better through the PA if its been coloured by a preamp pedal. For me, its a must have pedal. I currently use an ms60b with the BDDI simulator, but have used a number over the years.
  19. I recently got a 2nd hand steinberger spirit bass. Absolutely love it. Sound wise it's decent enough, certainly different to my jazz bass. Great fun bass. Not been in public with it yet though. Haha
  20. 2 questions, is it long enough for 5 boss style pedals without overhang? Does it jump qhen stepped on, due to the higher feet? And, is there space for another identical hb junior underneath? I think I know the answers, just want to check.
  21. For those that are interested, I rehearsed with this on Tuesday night... A gruelling 3 hour practice. And the results were great!! Such an easy bass to play. Low action, very little buzzing. The pickups are Ok, no noise from them. It sounds completely different to my jazz, but very usable. I was a wee bit worried that the pickups would be sh*te, but thankfully they're decent. The balance is fine on it too. Didn't feel awkward in any way. One wee minor problem for me is that since the pickup is soo close to the bridge, if I use the pickup as the thumb rest, the volume I can get from the strings is much lower. I may look at installing a thumb rest just a touch further along, just to make it more comfortable for my preferences. All in all though, looks like a keeper!
  22. This was a drunken ebay bid that i won last weekend, £215 (i think thats quite an average price;not a bargain). Got a hard case with it.Plays really really well suprisingly. Will take me a bit to get used to the 24 frets and the pickup positions, but from first playaround having no head has not been an issue! I know its really uncool, I dont like the colour and the steinberger decal. If I decide to keep this I might just refinish it. Now I need to get my band mates approval...... haha Any fellow headless players out there, any suggestions on where to get cheapish strings?
  23. I'd be tempted to get a b3 along with a select few other pedals, such as a nice od and octaver. The b3 will cover most stuff but I prefer the octaver on my digitech Bass Synth Wah. Mount it all on a board and you'll have an extremely versatile board for alot less than 400 quid.
  24. Had one for a wee while. Sounds great. Really cheap. If you want that particular tone then it does it really well.
