1. If anyone is off to T in the park this Friday, and don't fancy kasabian, come along to the transmissions tent for some live hip Scottish hip hop where my band Hector Bizerk ate closing the day, should be fun!! Transmissions tent. 10pm
2. Zoom b3 does, but that would limit you to run the b3 at the end if your chain, might suit, might not. I love my b3 by the way. Great bit of kit!
3.
yeah, but if you have 2 youll find a 3rd. Then you may as well fill you mini board out with 5/6 Then there is just that one more pedal you need, so you upgrade to a bigger board... I started with just a tuner, relying on just my bass for my tone, and now im working on adding a gameboy to my board so that i can trigger notes off it with my bass.
he speaks the truth.... its more addictive (and more expensive) than crack!
4. Thomanns own harley benton powerplant Junior. Ideal for use with 5 average powered pedals. Isolated inputs, and its pretty small. £30 quid will get you it. If you venture into digital pedals (with high power consumption) then it may struggle (like mine did), but enopugh juice for your normal analogue pedals. **disclaimer** apologies for any badly used technical jargon in this post... I've no idea how the whole power consumption thing works, I just know that it comes in mA's and aslong as the pedal uses less than what the power block thing gives then its all good!
5.
I want to run this into a Hartke LH500 as I want access to the tone prints, but with more power. Is this possible or am I going to break both amps! Thanks
Seems alot of faffing but I think you could just run the send from the bh250 into the return of the lh500.... unless theres a technical reason why that cant happen.
6. I love all the modern zoom stuff, but the B3 is an amazing piece of kit. I had one on my board up to recently but swtiched it for a ms60b and ms50g (for a number of reasons that suit me, but perhaps wouldnt suit others). B3 is solid too,
7. This makes perfect sense to me. As long as the sound is reasonably neutral it would be good for the guys with preamp on their pedal boards. Use it simply for volume (rather than tone shaping) then just use the eq to scoop out the boomy frequences from stage to stage. 3 rotary knobs kind of restrict you for in my opinion.
8.
The zoom r16 looks like a good option as does the zoom H2n. The only think I like about the idea of a mixer over other options is that we have a permanent room so once we have all channels set up and a mix we like, recording each session will be relatively simple because mics etc won't be moved around once in their positions. The zoom r16 seems to offer this ability with the interface built in, albeit as you say with less channels. The less messing I have to do on a laptop the better because I haven't spent enough time with the DAW I've chosen (reaper) to be fluent in it's operation, yet.
2 R16's will cost £400 and they allow you to connect together to work as a 16 track desk. Saying that, I reckon a selection of well placed room mics + some mic'd up instruments would get you a great sounding demo!
9.
MB1. Location and pictures of the actual case your selling will enhance your chance of a sale.
Fair points dude. Updated.
10. I currently have this pedal board and case. Its too big for me so I'm looking to do a straight swap with someone. Anyone need a bigger board? This photo isnt of mine but its the same one. Mine is in really good condition, a few barely noticable scratches, but looks almost brand new. The board has got velcro on it, but that can be removed no bother if need be. I plan to stick to 5 boss sized pedals so looking for something that would accomodate that. Make and condition are not overly important, as long as its sturdy and latches all work. I'm only interested in a hard case too. Anyone up for a swap? I will get an actual pic up once I have access to it. case outer dimensions 52cmx38cmx18cm Based in Glasgow.
11. If you want cheap, easy and less faffing about, I highly recommend the zoom r16. I'vew had 2 in my time. Only limitation is that it does 8 tracks (although you can get two and connect them giving you 16 tracks). Great sounding, really easy to use. you can mix on the unit or you can export to a DAW and play about until your heart is content. Got phantom power in two inputs. Less than 200 quid, robust, easy to use. No need to rely on a laptop. In fact... I want another one! haha
12.
Interesting stuff, I thought it just amplified the sound of my Modulus with a fair dose of warmth. I didn't notice any frequency bump inherent to the sound myself but then the cab will play a huge part in the sound.
Perhaps I'm just used to amps having their own sound.. so when my bass actually sounds like it should I just assume its the amp! haha. Whatever it does, it sounds pretty good to my ears.
13. I've got one. Great wee amp. I can imagine it struggling to keep up with a 2 guitar band setup, but for my needs (through my high sensitive) 2x 10 is more than enough. Sounds great, and hasnt failed me yet! I would recommend it to anyone! Dont know if I'd class it as a neutral sound though... I think it does have its own character.
14. well I'm flying at a different angle to the rest of you. I dont really care what amp I use. I've not played a gig in years where there bass amp is for too much more than monitoring. My amp sim is on my board, so I send the exact same signal anywhere I play. The amp gets the EQ flattened and all funny options turned off, and I'l have it just loud enough to hear it. If its a decent amp then it might go up a bit louder. In fact thats how I treat my own amp when I do use it!
15. I know its not answering your question, but if you're looking for a cheap great sounding octaver have a gander at the digitech BSW. Brilliant even if its just used for the ocatver (the synthy sounds are a bit nad)
16. Totally battered, no box and has 2 screws missing from the bottom plate, but this works perfectly and there no funny crackles coming from it. Made in Japan... if that makes any difference.I actually think it looks pretty cool all battered. Pictured Bottom left (obviously). £27.00 ONO posted to your door anywhere in the UK. Cheers
17. I kinda need to keep it as a single stomp box size. I've got a b3 which I love, but just too big for what I'd use it for. The MS range is really my only option. thanks for the idea though!
18. I took this out my Fender MIJ Aerodyne Jazz bass. Bridge pickup. Sounds pretty nice. £20 posted
19. I'm rejigging my board (again). I currently have a zoom ms60b doing the preamp/eq/fuzz/noisegate/tuner duties. Its AMAZING at this. I love everything this wee thing does. However, I kind of want to use it for a delay, which means I'd need to get a different pedal for fuzz, and maybe even a tuner (as you cant use the ms60b as a tuner and a tap tempo on the same patch). All of a sudden things have sprouted legs and I need a bigger board... and so on and so on.... So, my plan is to fire one of the other Zoom multi stomps at the end of my chain to deal with all the weirder bits and bobs... i.e modulations and tap delay. This would allow everything else as I have it to stay the same. I wonder who else uses either of these like I would? A quick gander through the 'post your pedalboard' thread and it seems a few folk do! My thoughts are to which one I'd be best to go for. To put itinto context, the modulation and delays onthe ms60b are more than enough for my needs and I'd never use the guitar amp sims etc, this is only for the modulations and delays. BUT, it might be cool to have a pedal onmy board that if I did decide to plug a guitar into it, I could get some nice amp sims...... Jeeeez GAS is hard sometimes! Anyone got experience of either that could steer me in one direction? I'm going to buy 2nd hand, and the guitar one seems to come more often... thats another factor to consider...
20. https://www.facebook.com/hectorbizerk/videos/vb.120451248040651/851719278247174/?type=1&theater Not sure if you will see this, but this is a wee crowd video from our gig last night in King tuts, Glasgow. Sold out, absolutely rammed. Great fun. Proud moment for us for two reasons. firstly, Selling out King tuts is quite a cool thing to have in your CV for a Glasgow band. secondly though, this was a sell out due to people going out to buy the tickets. We, as a band, didnt have to sell to our friends and family. This wasnt a room of people that came to see us because they felt they had to, they came because they wanted to. There was a constant stream of punters who got turned away at the door too. That for me is a massive deal, and for the first time in my bass playing life, theres an actual demand for what we do!
21. If starting from scratchm £700 I would more or less just get my existing one plus a few other bits and bobs... so... Existing: Boss LS2 - £50.00 Digitech bass synth Wah - £30.00 Zoom Ms60b - £100.00 Boss BF-2 - £60.00 So I'd add: Boss Harmonist - £100.00 Digitech BSW (yes a 2nd one) - £30.00 Boss TU-2 - £80.00 Swollen pickle fuzz - £100.00 Then spend the rest on high quality cabling and a decent power system. Its actually quite scary how far £700 would go (or should I say how far it doesnt go??). The extra pedals are just so I would no longer need to knob twiddle between tunes, and it seperates out the functions I currently use my ms60-b for. So really, For the extra dough I'm not really making any extra noises... just making life a bit easier for me!
22.
Had the same problem with my Boss Overdrive a few weeks ago.I pulled the Boss ODB-3 Overdrive and replaced it with the $69.00 Dr.J Soloman Overdrive. I really like it, it's easy to use and gives me a warm grit/crunch. Blue
What's the switch like on this? Is it quite clunky? I had the sparrow pedal, which I used as an always on preamp. Sounded amazing but the switch made that massive thud when used...
23. Jamiroquai - when you gonna learn..... The first Jamiroquai number I worked out myself, spnt along time on it, even although its one of the more simpler ones. Dream theater - take the time..... One of the hardest tunes I've ever tried to learn, stil cant play alot of it, but it gave me a focus that no other tune has ever done. Mr Big - Daddy brother.... learned the 3 finger plucking thing on this tune in my early days, still use it to this day. Red hot Chilli pepper - aeroplane... Learnt so many slapping chops from this tune its unbelelivable. Laker - Golden.... This is actually a tune from an EP from a band I joined when i was about 23. I was replacing the bassist, but the recording and the playing on it was so good I actually merged my playing style from 'rock' player to 'funky'. Biggest influence on my playing bar none. Never met the guy, but he played the bass in such a different way to me, and I preferred it!
24.
TIGHT! Do you and the drummer practice certain things together? That was stupidly tight.
Haha thanks dudes. Think we're tight just cos we work really hard at being flawless. Plus, Audrey is the most consistent drummer I've ever played with, its soo easy to sound tight!
