1. Cheers . I'm not one for jam nights . There's only so much blooze I can take mind you , if I play my records backwards I may get my car/ house / baby back . The dog might even recognise me
2. I would say that some of the somgs you're jamming to are played in a different tuning ( low d/ e flat ?) seems everything else is fine .
3. Yeah, I've had long periods off in the past like a lot of people . This year is the worst year I've had regarding personal / work life ( just under a month to go before its finished;) ) Maybe it's just a break that's needed for the moment
4. ..I am putting this down to myasthenia gravis , which I still have . It just makes you tired/lazy/lethargic. Looking at the amount of basses I have , the fact I'm not gigging anymore , and looking at some of the posts on here remind us that ' bass is not a solo instrument ' I feel that maybe I could try a different angle musically .( enjoying playing something again ). Even with the various effects I have , the enthusiasm isn't there . For example , I completed a collection of boss mini rack effects from the '80s , as yet I have not bothered with them . Same with the bass whammy o got on here . I have a couple of USB keyboards ( akai mpk mini and a full size radium oxygen something or other). What does appeal to me , is a sampler as such that can record my bass in a pad format , so I can play some key sounds with it . I know I complain about GarageBand ( and computer recording in general ), but when I get more financially comfortable I will get a new iMac / laptop and get logic and get the apple genius people show me how to use it . When I bought my Mac mini , I never knew that you get free lessons . I like the look of the moog keyboard that's like a Taurus .( can't remember name ) . I don't wanna play guitar as it doesn't feel Right in my hands. So , question is ; should I reduce my bass collection to one ? Any other instruments I could use in a flat ? Cheers
5. Malmsteen hammy odeon . Schenker pulled out of the gig, as it was supposed to be a co- headliner .Tw@t! Malmsteen was awesome. He even threw a broken strat which my friend got
6.
The first time I heard 'Deep Purple in Rock' it had a profound effect on me. Got me totally hooked on rock music and still am. Saw Deep Purple in Knebworth in '85 and they put on a cracking show
Purple were good a knebworth , but the scorpions smashed it
7. Van halen , the classic tangerine dream lineup, Actually , as I started going to gigs in '79 I would've seen franke/ frose/ and one of the others .Missed Chris franke at the festival hall ( tho the album is boring ). Had a tkt for Pete nam look at the Astoria ,but it was cancelled and now he is dead Tool on the 100000 days toir. Just getting into the album , after the tour was done
8. These are great basses. If I wasn't insistant in sticking to headless, I would have this .. Love the colour. Ady , is a top bloke to deal with also Glwts
9.
That's funny, TOPT were the very first " proper" band I seen. They were supporting Saxon in 1980, wheels of steel tour. I thought they were great, but then again, I would have enjoyed anyone playing guitars back then. I must admit, Jess Cox doesn't possess the best voice. They did improve later when John Deverill joined. He had a great rock voice!
I think that's where I saw them, at the Lyceum .. Or was it the electric ballroom ? That Saxon gig at the Lyceum was weird; they took an eternity to come on stage , and the 'eagle' fell on the drummers head ., Nearly forgot to mention , I think it was John Sykes First gig with the tygers
10.
yep I can't stand big venues either, overpriced crap atmosphere, I'd rather go and see a good tribute in a small venue than the real thing in an aircraft hanger
Mmm, tend to agree. The only ' big ' bands I'd go and see are Rush, Metallica and rammstein. Rush may not tour anymore, Metallica are too lazy to record. That leaves rammstein , which will probably be next year . As for a rammstein tribute , can't see the appeal,of a band in a small venue with a couple of sparklers and a Catherine wheel . Then again , it could work .
11. Laibach at the Astoria mid 90's . They mimed . Left after 3 'songs'. Truly awful
12. .. I may buy the tickets from a tout outside the venue / tube station . What's wrong with that ?
13. Black sabbath , hammy o , heaven & hell tour. ( dio time ). Boring or what? Iommis guitar solo, was making my teeth ache and fall out . Tygers of pang tang . Electric ballroom . All of us in the crowd were angel witch fans back on the day, but Jess cox was grating
14. Been going to gigs since '79, so I've seen some real cr@p. I' ll list them , as I remember them;) Back in the early '80s a band supporting hawk wind Crown of thorns . Not at all musical. Iron maiden at Wembley in the late '80s when they were blown off stage by anthrax . Only a few of us in the bar , but we enjoyed a few more drinks than expected. Warrior soul..some pretty boy with long blonde hair trying to be all political. Mordred at the marquee . The frontman was a c@ck! They should've been huge, but live they were cr@p. All attitude, but nothing to back it up . Motörhead at Wembley arena . The place was too big for them . No atmosphere. Kiss at Wembley arena on the crazy tights tour. Half empty venue because of post strike . No stage show..just Paul Stanley playing with his hair . Therapy at town and country . Cop shoot cop were way better . Dave lee Roth at hammy o . The tour where he had session musicians . Dirty mouth tour? John may all at hammy o . Looked like jimmy savilke . Boring , and arrogant . Megadeath peace sells tour . Mustaine strung out on drugs. Flotsam blew them clean off stage. Janes addiction at the Astoria ..camp ottvocalist carried through crowd eating grapes . I left after 10 mins. Queensryche .. Mind crime tour ..bland . Saw them 2 /3 years ago in Bournemouth .. Great. The almighty, Kentish Town . They were filming a video , but it got messed up and never released . Awful . Jack Bruce .. Empire Shepherd's Bush . He didn't want to be there . Schenker messed things up by pulling out of gig, half empty venue. Bruce finished with Eleanor rigby. Awful f@@king awful! That's it for now
15. Get well soon plenty of ice cream for you
16. This won't be around for long . Times are hard .,have a bump
17. Years ago, I was walking down Fleet Street on a Friday afternoon , taking the company petty cash from my job to coutts & co. I had long hair down mu back, and was wearing my ace of spades tour t shirt . This was the period when fast Eddie quit. Anyway, as soon as Phil saw me, he scarpered into a bookshop in Chancery Lane . Miserable bastard I thought . Lemmy chatted to me for about half an hour tho'. Not the kind of thing you expect meeting your heroes at 2.30 on a Friday afternoon I don't do hero worship anymore Rip Phil
18. Status or steinberger, if you would consider headless basses that is .
19. For a moment , I thought it'd be a black one with the TS logo on the body . Have a TS SMF bump
20. May withdraw this soon . Having second thoughts. If there was a status, and cash my way , I may go for that .
21.
You're not a bass player, you're a musician. Play as many musical instruments as you can.
+1 . I'm worse than cr&p on a guitar . I was thinking about getting a cheap one and trying again. I just don't like the feel of one In my hands For some bizarre reason, yesterday I was looking at glockenspiel / xylophone on you tube . It would probably sound too noisy for the flat , and not good for metal .
22. I have a question to ask : is the seller still on eBay ? Not thrown off since this transaction? The reason I ask , is because I have a similar experience of a dodgy seller . A few years ago I bought a few rare CDs from someone on eBay . Great transaction . There was a list of other CDs to buy if I wanted to , which was sent in a letter enclosed with my purchases. Anyway, just before I agreed to buy additional CDs , I had a message from eBay saying that the seller has been booted off of eBay , for some dodgy doings. I went ahead ( my own fault). I lost £6 . Could've been a lot worse . I don't think I used PayPal . If I did , I doubt if they would hello me , as I was warned by eBay , plus I agreed purchase off eBay . My feeling is that , the seller of the bass on this topic has done a runner , and will be chucked off eBay . The op used PayPal which should mean he gets money back. Fingers crossed
23. I received a nice reply from one of the female dj's , telling me I should expect a reply on Monday , from one of their web masters. The station is owned by bell media , who own a couple of ' Bears' apparently. Maybe they're cost cutting . I'll have to look for something similar I guess. I will post reply, when I get it. I had a look at the premium version of tune in radio , and what you get for £5.99 a month. I didn't go for the free trial as I think it looks rubbish.
24. Yeah, it is everything you mentioned . Haven't scales, but I believe about 10 lbs in weight .
