Musical blind spots I wish I had ; u2 , Genesis , yes, Madonna , Bob Dylan , razor light , Kings of Leon , bloc party ,early Beatles ( I think the stuff they did when out if fly heir skulls was better ) ,def leppard , Bruce Springsteen , van Morrison , dire straits , bee gees ( before disco stuff they were OK ) & guns and roses. Edith Piaf . Sorry if I offend . I have listened to the above , and seen a few of the names mentioned , but I tried. My bosses played a few of the bands above also numerous times, boring the crap out of me . Blue ..if you mentioned Motörhead instead of megadeath ( lemmy) in your opening posts above , you wouldn't have got as much flack as you did IMHO . Just saying;) It's a bit like me saying Paul mc cartney was a great player with the yardbirds . No offence meant , just surprised you didn't know how big an icon lemmy is/ was;) This thread is good tho '. TBH , I can't really think of any blind spots I've experienced except maybe King Crimson . Heard about 2 tracks . Levin is a legend obviously , but I just haven't got round to doing so . Yet.

Some Sellers really grind my gears
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
The 'good' thing was that you never got ripped off in a deal .No cash lost, no dodgy bass. Was it a gumtree deal? I only ask as I hear of so many incidents from people on here who had unpleasant experiences on gumtree . Put me off of considering gumtree for anything . If not gumtree , what site was it ? -
There has been an increase in these kind of threads over the last couple of years on basschat. Its interesting to see all the different reasons for why some are In agreement with the o p, and those who are still enjoying playing. Me? I'm just too confused , and misguided than I've been in my whole life . I still go to normal gigs ( not pub gigs as I don't drive and know nobody interested in pub gigs). In my mid 30's , I stopped playing for about 5/6 years . Fed up with it all. Got back into it , thanks to one of my best friends ever, who got me to do my 40th birthday gig , playing to about 80 or so people in the west end . A few more birhday gigs with our band of friends, led me to expand the bass collection of 3 - 9 basses. They all did different things . I've since gone down to 6. Got lots of effects too . For me unfortunately , it may be things outside of music that are draining my energy, and making me not bother anymore. Go back 6 years, my brother moved in with me . I thought maybe a year later he would go. He was trying to turn me into his butler, and 5 years later he went. Thank f@@k! Then you have to hold down a day job, and after being made redundant from my best ever job, I was temping and trying to settle into a hortible place in the worst recession ever known . The recession is still here IMHO . Then you have to keep a roof over your head.. Then the band imploded, due to bitching and backbiting etc. Usual stuff. Sorry if I'm repeating the fact I now have occular myasthenia gravis for almost two years. One of the symptoms is it makes you lethargic and you don't want to do anything. My age makes me feel less confident about joining a pub gigging band again . Early fifties. Plus I don't want to play in front of one man and his deaf dog again. What I used to find when gigging ; the people you expect to see you never turn up . A person you would never expect to see you , does show. I'm thinking of another hobby instead of bass, but not sure what. I sometimes think of either joining musicians to jam with n a rehearsal room just to record stuff for a giggle, or to get a teacher to teach me Logic Pro / able ton live so I can record proper stuff on sound cloud . Got loads of basses, loads of effects , not sure what I'll do. Gaff- what area do you live in ? It sounds scary;) Best of luck to you all in what you decided doing

New drummer found, now guitarist is off on one...
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to AndyTravis's topic in General Discussion
Only skimmed through this for now. Looking at your opening post , I think you and mr. Drums should split and form your own band . Everyone knows how hard it is to get a decent drummer at the best of times. It sounds like the others are not giving him much of a chance and he is nervous . Good luck -
Love the colour !

I like a lot of his early classic stuff , but never really a fan . I've just remembered , me as a 9 or 10 year old , on the way home from a local fayre. For some reason , I got my face painted like the alladinsane l p cover . Pretty cool. Bizarre Rip

Howdy! I have a gallien Krueger combo ( mbs111) , hardly used since I got it in a swap with another basschatter . I have been playing ( or attempting to) a couple of basses through it for about an hour or so. There was obviously a lot of static noise when adjusting the controls . However, the sound keeps cutting out . If I turn the volume up to a loud volume, the sound returns again. Same with the output level. is it something simple , like cleaning the pots ? Is it best to take it to an amp repair shop? If so, will it be an expensive fix? please advise Cheers

Have you found 'that' drummer?
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Subbeh's topic in General Discussion
non-prescription drugs, lots of gaffer tape and a cellar - or suitable blackmail over dodgy mobile phone pictures can help.
Probably the only way TBH -
Off topic ? General discussion ?
