1. All of the above really. Billy Sheehan attitude is not a rip off tho'. I haven't got one (yet) , but although expensive , he uses exactly the ones he sells. Good solid value there.
2.
Cheers Ray I'm a bass player, it's been over 20 years since I gigged guitar, but recently I'm just loving acoustic guitar and want to strum again. I suppose it does not take much effort for me to learn my bass covers, perhaps Ill follow my urge and like you say , it may help my bass playing in other ways I don't see. Have enjoyed music for years, and I suppose over recent years I've done everything the covers bands have required on bass with trying to hard, and i have given up trying to learn anything beyond that eithesome it theory or playing technique. so picking up the acoustic and getting frustrated at my playing is not something I've really been faced with for a while, and I've got the hump and want to push on with sorting it out, even if it's just for my own personal enjoyment.
Just relax, and start noodling with the guitar;)
3. Nice thread. I'll join in on the fun later.
4. Heard the name only when my ex boss wanted me to do an errand for him and get an album that had elvis Costello on it.( something like that anyway) I was trying to work things out then, as elvis was punk. I was a naive 17 year old then;) Rip anyway
5. Forgot to ask what do you wanna do most.? If you play bass in a band, keep it no.1 You could play guitar in your freetime
6. God no! If you can play guitar as well, all the better . If anything, your dexterity should improve. Enjoy;)
7.
Job Done
Could be onto something here;) looks like I don't need a mixer after all.
8.
That's too confusing for me I'm afraid.
I totally understand thanks for helping tho'
9. What I'm doing at the moment ; drum app from ipad- into irig - toneport - garageband. Then, remove ipad . plug bass - into toneport - then garageband. Then, believe it or not , I plug ipad back into toneport and, using headphone out socket from toneport record onto the ipad version of soundcloud . Hope that's not too confusing;)
10. Is that the woman who sings with her eyes shut, and has loads of teeth? Sorry, but it brings back painful memories of '70s disco. Glad you're enjoying it tho'
11.
What do you do on the iPad that you can't do on the actual computer?
Thanks for replying. I use apps on the ipad, that are not on Mac mini .
12. Not the food variety . I use garageband on my Mac mini / line 6 toneport ux1 (podfarm) and an ipad. I have recorded a few bits this way on soundcloud( mellowcat;) Reason I was thinking of using a mixer, is that it would be less fiddlly than what I am doing at the moment. For example, would I be able to use 2 things at once ( ipad and bass) going from mixer into garageband? Or should I not bother with a mixer at all? Please advise. Cheers
13. Surprisingly , even on you tube there isn't much to go on. Did you manage to play any songs with the rest of the band? I'm intrigued as an 8 string can be overpowering.
14. Wouldn't mind reverting to the old one again tbh.
15.
KFC before each gig
Made me laugh.. But I think it would work
16.
I use TC BH500 and BC212 matching cabs x2. I use a fender jazz with dimarzio dp123 and j-retro.
Okay, I've heard of TC amps but not actually heard them to my knowledge . Are your pickups active on the Fender? Regarding amps ; from personal experience I found Trace Elliot to be boomy , muddy , but not very clear. Eden nemesis combo fantastic and much brighter than the Trace. Maybe you may need a sans amp or similar. Also, regarding the action of the Fender, I would not adjust the action for sound. It's how comfortable you play. That's all I know, now back to the other Basschatters to help
17. That was good. Cool cats
18.
What i mean by clanky punch tone is the flea bass tone. I'm trying to get that tone on my jazz by boosting mids and treble and striking the bass with force but still no clank or that punch i'm looking for. I got to admit my bass is not low action. Will low action and abit of fret buzz will give me that funky punch tone?
Active pickups are good for the flea tone. Status basses are also a must ( graphite necks as already mentioned); what amp are you using?
19.
I thought my amp was broken too last week in rehearsal when it kept cutting out "F***ing Marshall crap breaking twice in one f***ing year, f***'s sake, piece of f***ing s**t. Oh hang on my lead is dodgy" Next time I'll check everything before assuming the worst
Brilliant
20. Cool;) I was unaffected . Nice one
21. Did it happen?
22. Someone was after a charvel the other day. Check 'items wanted ' . Niiice bass god, I wish it was the '80s again. Have a bump
23. Denmark street/charing x road.
