1. Cheers. Just saw them. They were very tight, tho' the frontman is a bit les miserable.he seemed a little nervous. The crowd seemed to like them eventually. Not really an outdoor band imho. I'll see if goat are on the iplayer.
2.
Loved the way everyone joined in with Kenny Rogers songs! Secret band anyone?
Gonna see if I can find him on the iplayer. Lucille, with 400 children
3. Just watched it on iplayer. Really good, ( 2000 light years, miss you were dire tho' imho). Midnight rambler, probably my fave stones track & it was brilliant. Good thing I managed to see it on iplayer, as I don't need to pay £600 for the next gig in London;)
4.
It was around 11pm start, but I watched it on the internet, so no idea about the red button bit.
Cheers for that
5.
The time was well advertised, I thought..? They showed an hour of their set, live as it happened (pretty much). I thought it was OK. Not great. But then I've never quite got the Stones live experience. They always sound in a hurry to get back to their hotel.
What time did bbc show it? Was it red button? I saw craig charles introduce pubic enemy ,and switced over. Watched wallander, still no stones ...
6.
Just catching a bit of the highlights over a late breakfast (gigging last night and didn't record it) on iplayer. Considering age and the band have long had a reputation for turning in some mediocre live performances as well as great ones it's really not that bad. They'd be screwed without Jagger though. Proper front man, it's not as easy as he makes it look.
Me &a few pals discussed the best frontman. We all said its definitely mick.
7. .. Was Toy! Anybody catch them? ( had a brief glimpse at other bands, & from what I could see, it looks dire) only my opinion of course;)
8. Annoyed at the bbc , for not telling us what time they were showing them. Did they show a consecutive hour, or was it chop and change to other bands ? Sounds like I haven't missed much
9. Markbass super synth? Moog ?
10. Wait till you see the hetman instructions. Helmet hattler?
11.
Same here. I find it takes awhile to dumb down my technique & readjust to frets - I keep hitting the fret for a bit. Beware! There's competition! (albeit oop Nerth) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUO6kYLb6As That was good
12. Must admit, after learning on a hondoll I was traumatised. It was a copy of a precision, but in reality it was firewood on a stick. Weighed more than my sister in law. Years later, I got a telecaster bass and it feels completely the opposite . Looks alright too. Having said all that, a decent headless bass keeps in tune more than any other bass , and the necks are free from warping etc. So it's horses for courses. It comes down to the person playing it IMHO )
13. Thanks folks! Yep, the market has been truly pants for quite some time. At least I'm not giving up altogether just yet. I realise that certain ones are rare, but not too expensive (jack Daniels/ Dean Cabbie), so they are keepers even just to hang somewhere. The washburn Status will stay with me also, as it's my first 'proper' bass, and feels the most comfortable to play. Plus I've had it years (bought from new). The others are gathering dust...
14. Really nice guy, and a top Basschatter! Need I say more ?
15. Over the weekend, I recorded two tracks on soundcloud . This got me thinking , as 1 of those tracks had no bass guitar at all . So, although I have 9 , maybe a few of those should go. I haven't gigged since 2010. Ones I will keep; Washburn status, dean cabby in lovely yellow;) jack Daniels bass. Rest I'm not sure about . For example, I could sell the schecter 5 string and tune another one BEAD instead. Fret less? I don't know . As for effects; maybe I'm better off just using podfarm . Amp; although I love the Aguilar setup maybe a small markbass or gallien k. May be better incase I do a one off gig . Decisions decisions
16.
The live album with DiMeola, Lucia and McLaughlin is Friday night in San Francisco http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=DvVmqnNBo9w&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DDvVmqnNBo9w
That's the one . Cheers
17. I have a cassette in the loft somewhere : paco/al di meola/ john machlachlan . Think it's live in New York ( a long timr ago. Black cover iirc)some bodynhelp me out Gypsy kings are okay up to a point. I'll checkout these you tube vids , when I am not tired and have time
18.
Orange Goblin, Some You Win, Some You Lose, http://youtu.be/tJoJjH_Zmck
I like that
19. Podfarm is also good
20. I enjoyed that. Must confess I don't know who richey Edwards is. Can't remember the band mark e smith was in. I saw a programme about him on the off chance , and must say he is one of the most tuneless and boring people I have ever seen. Half an hour wasted from my life . Back to the thread;)
21. Sure I mentioned teen spirit and Hawaii 5 o already. Haven't mentions captain scarlet tho'
