1. I used to play in a VERY heavy death metal band with the same bass. I had no problem with the sound, infact i thought it was great. I then started using the Ibanez SRX300 which is very similar to the rbx, just a thinner neck and a higher output. I changed because i didnt like the feel of the yamaha, it simply didnt play fast enough. I think Ibanez would be the best way to go next, SRX or SR both are great fo that type of thing. Im back to yamaha now though, an older BB and TRB. I play in a stoner/doom band using drop c, and i use fairly heavy strings (55-110) and they make a huge difference. Just try a few things out.
 2.
Looks like Al Cisneros' bass!
He's the man.
 3.
I had one of these (same model, colour etc) and the SVT sound when run through a decent cab or two is great.
this must have been with a poweramp or another head?
 4. i will have this if its still here next week
 5. Isn't particulary interesting, but when i first played with my sister (I looked up to her as a guitar player and my sis - never taught me anything, i just tried to do what she was doing) that was pretty cool. Playing in front of the whole school (a fair few years ago mind) filling in for someone, they asked me to learn bass for it, and i did, and we rocked, played sepultura's "Refuse/Resist". And another one would be playing in a local club with a comedy band, jammed packed and everyone loving it and dancing like 'tards
 6. I used to love the guy, he is an amazing player but i just cant listen to the music anymore...unless it's Mr Pink!!
happy 51st mark, ill still have to say hes my favourite musician of all time i dont care about how many times people knock hi and his tone and his music i think he is great regardless what i always thought was great about mark was how cool he made it all look so comfortable and relaxed whereas some players like wooten clarke e.t.c. Are like all hunched over their instrument all the time and they dont even sing! Well neither do i but thats a different matter. I just think mark king and level 42 are excellent and easily my favourite band. Mark king is the reason i started bass playing my dad started because of mark king and all the other brit funk stuff that was around in the early ninetys and got himself a jaydee roadie in the early 1990s a 1980 model with two pickups and passive electronics in tobacco sunburst which he had finished in cherry red and activized if thats a word lol. He then got a series 1 brand new made for him and the roadie got put in the cupboard for a few years. In the meantime my dad bought me a precision bass special which i learnt on later which then got traded in for a jazz and then when i got better he gave me the jaydee and ive studied it hard ever since....love to dad! x
Christ! I can't read that without getting a stitch!

 18.
We once played a friend of a friends party at our local conservative club where we were offered free drinks all night. We take advantage of this. We start and immediately get complaints from neighbours either side about the noise, one of whom claimed pictures were falling off her wall. After 2 songs the bartender literally runs over and asks me to tell everyone to turn down... Guitarist asks "what did he say?", my reply "can't hear the guitar mate", set continues at fult tilt. Next thing the singer has spat a gobful of beer/spit/phlegm into a ceiling fan and soaked everyone/everything in a 10m radius, cue call to the police, our departure and 'aftershow party' at a nearby friends house. Pretty much the best gig I've played.
Thats sounds like a fudging good gig
 19. id think about muso finder. found a few musicians in my area on there. http://www.musofinder.co.uk/
 20. too many times. One i remember (barely) was at a venue above a pub, and we were fairly close to the audience, and it was packed. Hitting someone over the head with your headstock isnt a nice feeling...or sound. Lets say she didnt see the rest of the show
 21. If this is still here by weekend after next, i may be interested. Have a bump on me for now!
