  1. If you decide against this idea, do you mind if I buy it instead, and stick a MM pick up in at the bridge? I feel like this would increase the instruments versatility at open mic nights.
  2. I would have to agree. I bought this exact model from Bass Bros in pristine condition for just shy of £1200. Great bass however
  3. In the early days there were a few that I got excited about but turned out to be disappointments. I had one particular bass on loan, didn't actually own it, not sure this counts but to this day is hands down the worst bass I've ever played in my life. Everything about it was sh*te. The finish, the pick ups, the neck....etc. Truly awful thing. Ibanez srx595. My first decent bass was a srx300 which I adored. Loved the fast & slim neck. So much so, I decided I wanted a 5 string upgrade. That thing was gorgeous to look at, but it just felt awful in my hands. After a short while it was moved on. Fast forward a while, lessons learned and I have been lucky in the past 15 years and haven't really owned anything I really disliked. I recently ventured back into the ibanez SRX world and now own a srx705 (bought for £200, bargain). Love the feel of this bass however I wasn't happy with the aggressive tone. So it now sports some Aguilar DCBs. Looks and sounds lovely.
  4. One last bump before it's put on ebay

I recently picked up a new jazz bass... MIJ active deluxe LTD. Beautiful to play and lovely tone. A nice companion to my Japanese Stingray. I like Japanese stuff, alright?
  6. Any luck? 😅 Happy to deliver within 50 miles and free shipping to basschatters
  7. Hey guys Up for sale is my Yamaha TRB1004 in black, I believe one of the later models made in Indonesia. You know the deal with these. I currently have the neck pick up reversed however I'm happy to move it back for you. The bass has little signs of wear. The standard playing marks you'd expect, tiny surface scratches. Nothing notable. Selling because I want a new jazz bass! Asking price is £400. Happy to answer any questions you may have. I have a soft hard case I could use to post at the buyers expense however I would prefer collection. Selling because I want a MIA/MIJ Jazz bass V. So I would consider partial trades
  8. Well...if anything is going to tempt me into Swindon...
  9. 1. I believe they are single coil pick ups with a hum cancelling dummy coil. 2. No coil tap 3. I will get some photos for you on my day off. 4. I need to buy a multimeter!! Thanks for your help!! Really appreciate it. I feel like I'm gonna learn something here ....
  10. Its unlikely I would ever want to sell it because of the history I have with this bass. Looking at the electronics, it be a great surprise to me if they work at all, which is easy to check once I replace the jack input. Classic barrel jack problems which led me to putting it down in the first place. Just never got round to replacing it. I was hoping someone here may have had experience with modding their Yamaha BBG4Sii or even the Korean TRB models that share the same pick ups. Im interested to hear their story. I probably should have mentioned this in the first place! There's a nice Frank Itt video on YouTube with the same bass. He replaced the pick ups with some 5 or 6 string"bass-tec" pick ups which slotted in perfectly apparently. I am happy to keep existing ones if they prove to be ok, however I am not against the idea of overhauling everything and turning this bass into something different to what I already have. Would be potentially interested in installing true humbuckers.
  11. Hey guys! I have had this Yamaha BBG4Sii for a number of year now. In fact, I think it was in a part ex deal from Basschat a looooong time ago. This bass was well used and my number 1 at one point. I loved how comfortable it was to play and enjoyed how it sounded. Always been a fan of these Yamaha instruments. Especially the later TRB models with the seemingly identical pick ups, one of which I also own. I have been thinking about giving the bass a complete overhaul of electronics and hardware. It seems the electronics are corroding, the jack input is dead, it no longer has it's gold hardware - replaced by some cheap Aria hardware...it needs some serious TLC. So my dilemma is this, spend time and money investing in this generally cheap instrument as a fun project or just wait until another comes along and buy it to replace it? I feel like the project would be a fun one, and it would be a shame to not bring it back to life, since I enjoyed playing it so much back in the day. Where to start? The pick ups are famously large and difficult to replace....preamp not exactly difficult to figure out....anyone willing to make suggestions/give advice/abuse would be greatly appreciated 👍 😏 Not my bass, picture for reference:
  12. This still for sale? Madness if it still is. I'm only in lechlade...could be tempted to have a look Friday
  13. I played it at bass bros when I picked up my Stingray. Lovely bass, nice work!
  14. I had a sub n up for a while. Couldn't get on with the artificial sound of it. Sounded goofy to me.
  15. 20240426_210741.heicFirst version of this awesome pedal. A bit of light wear and tear on the casing but works perfectly. The foam tabs on the back were removed by a previous owner and does have some velcrow on the back (easily removed). Postage included in the price. Now £80!

My MIM. Been around for roughly 13 years. Changed the guts to active emgs, and replaced the pickguard with a dodgy cheap one (not sure why, I'm still not convinced by it). Will never sell it, my longest serving bass. I want a 5 version badly.
  19. Bought a pedal also. Would recommend to other BC'ers, nice and simple transaction. Cheers pal
  20. Oh. She said the money didn't transfer from the isa quick enough. So that's that then. Sorry mate
  21. I think my girlfriend just bought me this. Good girl, that one.
  22. This is currently on hold. That may change though over next couple of days
  23. Hey guys! I am selling my beloved soundblox bass envelope (not the pro!) with the wireless hot hand controller (the older version). I'm trying to sell them in a bundle really, as separately I think they would be hard to shift but I could be persuaded to sell them seperately! The hot hand also includes a charging adaptor and the pedal itself is in very good condition. Bare used at all! It's been gigged about once. You know the deal with these things, awesome pedal, and the hot hand is so much fun to use. 80 inc postage I think is quite reasonable! Let me know if you have any questions.
