3. Just want to add that I love the new Rush album! Granted, I am fan - but even as such, obviously love some records more than others. I think it's their best for a long time - stiff competition, as I'm a big admirer of Snakes And Arrows and all that came before! Just love the whole way that the more times you listen, the more you get from it - something which most albums these days, for me, you just don't get. Maybe a little more space in the production would be good (not that I don't think it sounds great).....but then again, it has to sound 2012 and not like 2112!
4.
Is the best place to mention that I have a Stingray for sale on here?
You can't blame a man for trying!
5. Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere, but I've noticed on the 'net that you can get the 'older' 2011-style Fender Jazz and Precision basses, brand new with all the goodies, for as little as £899. One I noticed initially was GAK, but I'm sure there's others. Having read about the little in difference made with the new models, that's quite a tempting price even for me! When a new on is over £1000, looks like a good saving for any Fender fan looking at new purchase. BTW, I have no affiliation or anything with the sales!
6. Pick player here through and through. I've tried using fingers, and on some other basses I've had you can arguably get a better tone. However, I do what I do - Ric with a Pick! That's my style and I'm sticking to it!
7.
I thought Hooky's Hondo got nicked?
I read in one of the Factory books that he smashed it up on a low ceiling, circa Autumn '79?
8. The abundance of Rics made for lovely viewing! The John Cooper Clarke clip looked (albeit briefly) - and sounded - Ric to me.

10. A guy I used to work with was in the same class as Andy Fraser at secondary school! Both great players as well.
11. I saw this on E-bay - very nice 4001. Thought it went too cheaply on there TBH! Looking forward to the pics - great price as well!
12. I enjoyed the Jools stuff, seriously might look at buying some of her stuff. I'd never come across her before, but I liked what I heard. ...and she has got awesome hair, IMHO, always very important for an artist!
13.
Probably not too far no. What are you having done to your bass? Will you let me know how it is when it comes back? Thanks Phil
Will PM with details as soon as it returns!
14. I've got a bass currently with James at 12th Fret in Winchelsea near Rye. In Sussex....a bit too far for you? http://www.12thfret.co.uk/ First time I've used him - bass comes back Wednesday. Seems like a good guy though, very professional, and very pleasant.
15. Down to 1 guitarist now? I saw them in '91 on the Painkiller tour......I'm not a metal fan these days, but Priest and other bands I saw at the time were the best live acts ever.....really gave it their all.
16. I love the old Yes records - haven't really listened to much after 'Drama' TBH. I'm kind of listening from a distance as I wasn't born until 'Relayer' came out, so for me, it's about the merit of the songs. Chris' bass tone is without doubt the highlights of some, already excellent records. Last week or so, I've been getting into 'Yesshows' - great version of 'Gates' on there, one of my fav Yes tracks. I even enjoy 'Tormato'! Nowhere near as bad as I've read about. Only thing I can offer on the debate is that I did read that he used a Telecaster bass on 'South Side Of The Sky'. Aside from that, I like to think it's the Ric on most of the other stuff. I'm surprised 'Time & A Word' never gets more of a mention. Fabulous record, and Chris' tone on that album is sublime.
17. Dunlop 1.00 Tortex for me - the blue ones! Been using these for years, great picks.
18. Received a lovely Rick 4001 from Dave today. Transaction was so easy - loads of excellent pictures, great and fully accurate description of a gorgeous instrument. Packaging was superb - no danger of any damage. Better than many guitar shops! Definitely deal with Dave if you get the opportunity - 100% trustworthy......a real nice guy and true gent to deal with.
19. Thanks all - good advice there, and some stuff to take a good look at. I'll have that nailed by next rehearsal!
20. Lowest of the low - I can't imagine how upset you must be. I sincerely hope you get it back soon, and that the thieves responsible receive some swift (and painful) karmic justice.
21. Thanks for that! I think my theory must be even worse.....now I'm really confused!!
22. Just joined an upbeat r'n'b trio to compliment my originals band. It's all Dr. Feelgood type-stuff, regular mix of r'n'b and rock 'n' roll. A couple of times, we've gone through 'She Does It Right'. Great song. I've been playing it really simple, keeping it as hard-edged as possible. At the last rehearsal, the guitarist said that on the record, the bass part contains some chords! I've had to go through the song on Youtube, etc, so the bass frequency isn't that great....so I can't really make out what's going on. Anybody played this one before? How did you play it? Any tips on this so I can nail it before next rehearsal?
