    That looks like one cracking Jazz at a great price! I bought myself one the same late last year (I've also changed the bridge). If I hadn't bought it, I'd be snapping this beauty up in an instant!! Have a bump on me Geofio!

    I've owned a few over the years....always struggled to find one that really fitted me. Picked up a Classic 70's last year...thicker neck than I've had on a Jazz before, so that suited nicely. Just a nice playing bass. Got a new Gotoh 201 bridge coming to me this week, so hopefully that'll give it a bit more all round. It's my first mod I've actually ever done on a bass in some years of playing...inspired by BC!

    The more I listen to TL, the more I worry about Phil's voice! What happened to that soulful delivery? It becomes a bit a rasp in the last few years. Was it the drugs....whatever it was, it's a shame how he ended up singing towards the end of the band. It seemed to change overnight...even on 'Killer On The Loose', what a change to a year before.

    I'd say that Geddy Lee has got a fairly aggressive style as well. My own sound, I suppose, is what would fall into that category. Not surprising, as my top 5 bassists include JJ, Lemmy and Geddy!

    Enjoy....one of the best bands ever in my book! The 5-CD box doesn't have 'Inner Worlds' though. I'll have to try the two 'later' albums....always been a bit scared with how they'd compare to the '70s model.

    Don't forget 'Inner Worlds', the last LP before the first split. I finally got it this year - it's awesome, the kind of album which would never be made today.     Glad to see this thread back! Superb album, still remember the day I bought it - felt timeless on release, and still sounds great. IMHO, the best set of lyrics to any album...so affecting. How JDB sang them is beyond me - if you listen with the lyric sheet, it's phenomenal, and so amazingly powerful...the references, the imagery... I've always been in the Ric camp - but TBH, the album could be a mix of P and Ric. He played a P on the dates around the release, and on a bootleg I'd thought it was a Ric until I saw some footage, and it was a P! I suppose it's the amp, the eq...maybe we'll never know for sure.

    I've never played another bass that can cut through so well, with such a deep bottom end. Resisted them for years, but once I turned the corner, suddenly found what all other basses lack. Solid, simple, but very versatile (soul, jazz, rock, funk...it's all been on a P)...that's why Precision for me.

    I've used a pick a pick for years - do some fingerstyle sometimes at home, but TBH I play better, and sound better with a pick. So I've come to the conclusion to when in public, play to what I do best. I bring to the bands what I do with my own style. My advice always is play what you feel best with, you'll be more relaxed and that in turn will enable you to play to your natural best!
