2.
First big gig at a local music festival about 3000 people there - i think I was 17 playing and playing in a covers band. Its was a summer night and abt 15 minutes into the set a travelling brass band from eastern europe and their 20 or so majorettes walked into the crowd and were all standing right at the front. The chicks looked like something outta L.A.- all tight dresses and really beautiful. And there we were rocking out. Needless to say that turned out to be a great week. Second was my old bands last gig back in belfast a few years ago. The crowd were amazing, the support acts were all buddies, the whole vibe was unreal and the tone outta that old '78 P bass I had back then was pure delicious growl. I hung up my bass after that as I thought it will never be topped! Here I am back like some fun junkie sniffing around for that hit again Good Times!
That's amazing.

 5. He musn't 'av the money round to buy a Morri thou, begged and borrowed, sometimes he even admitted that he stole. Must be out of a two-way stretch inside and the money's no good just get a ......... Ugly.
 6. About £1000 over priced for a starting bid.
 7. Steve Reich, "Music For a left hand up yours finger and Sixteen tripleting right hand digits with treatments", I think that's the name.
 8. Very sensible price Rich, good luck.
 9.
Yes, of course I do. Too many people think the bass is a guitar and play it as such. Working across the strings, using open strings is the logical way of playing the instrument. The less leaping up and down the neck you do, the more efficient, fast and smooth you're going to be.
Beautifully put our kid.

 17.
I think that's the quote of the thread. In all seriousness, the mere thought of listening to Alain Caron for 50mins has made my penis shrivel.
That is the quote of the thread!
 18.
Skankdelvar, You are way to kind, Thank you!! I will try to add something here but I think you guys covered the important stuff. In my opinion what has kept me going is: 1. Always be prepaired for the gig by knowing the material fully. ( I spend a lot of my time learning songs ) 2. BE ON TIME OR EARLY to gigs/rehearsal 3. Be relaxed, don't let little things upset you. No one likes to be around someone who bitches about everything. 4. Have a good bass sound and reliable gear. 5. If you don't know about something............. Respectfully listen to someone who does. 6. BE NICE! 7. (most important.....) DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8. Don't squander you money when times are good, because during the lean times you will be stressed out and may be tempted to give up and do something else that is more "stable". If you plan on touring, Forget everything you know about the comforts of home. At least until you are riding around in you own personal tour bus. Sometimes, you will be hungry, tired, sick, homesick, annoyed, need to use the bathroom, desperate for a shower, and all the while you will need to be on top of your musical game and not be a prick to be around. These are the tough times of touring. The good stuff in my opinion, far outweighs the bad though. You get to see the world, eat food you would never get to try otherwise, hang with other musicians 24 hours a day, play music in front of amazing fans, meet new people you would never have met, and all because you are playing an instrument you love to play. I wish you all the best of luck! Craig
Amazing.
 19. Go tp Wicks and get a metric/imperial set for a tenner. 45 pieces, great value and tough.
 20.
In the last couple of years ive found myself gradually 'going off' bass orientated albums. From about the ages of 15 to 22 i probably listened to nothing else (almost) than Victor, Stanley, Marcus, Jaco, Alain Caron, Adam Nitti etc etc etc and anything made by a bass player be it video, dvd, cd. And now although i will occasionally listen back to them, im kind of finding none of that stuff or the 'new' guys, floats my musical boat anymore! I mean i love to solo and explore that side of things, but its just not doing it for me listening to it anymore! Do I sound like a hyprocrite?? Anyone else gone through this???
Welcome back to music.
 21. I had a Jubilee 300 head and matching 4x10 cab, it sucked but I would love to try a VBA 400.
 22.
I know everyone's circunstances are different. But I really wouldn't waste my money on cheap strings. What's the old saying - buy cheap and pay twice ? I use DR's and they last for months and months, the set I have on at the moment is about 4 months old but sounds as bright as when I put them on. I'd rather pay a little more for something that lasts that long rather than keep buying them every month or so, it's cheaper in the end (in my book anyway).
DR strings are the best I've played and like Kev says, they last for ages.
