1. Steinberger? Are you sure?
2.
Here are my planks on the sofa... I have neatly cropped the wine stain out of the picture (with the other stains) ped
Bring back tobacco sponsership in F1, it was far sexier. I love the way Vigier basses somehow show the expression of the French people. Their upper and lower horns are at just the right orientation to say, "We are French, let's eat a great meal, drink some fine wine, dance and then make love".
3.
I'm pretty sure it was a "real" bass sampled into Dolby's Fairlight & then sequenced. I'm a big fan of Thomas Dolby.
Correct. The bassline to "Hot Sauce" from "Aliens Ate My Buick" is comprised from over 50 samples of The Lost Toy People bassist.
4. Thank the lord.
5.
Not loud enough?!?!? Do you have particularly intense volume requirements? Or is it quieter than one might think when fully cranked?
Eh? It's not the loudness of it, it's that it didn't give me that stage slam, umph, lowdown dirty groove that 6 speakers in a big cab gives, it sounds fecking amazing though. Jim should have made it a 4x10 @ 4 ohms but it is nice and small and for its size is a giant.
6. I'm gonna try that with my QSC PLX 3102 amp and a drill, brill post, John.
7. # Berg IP310 with pres, sounded great but not loud enough for me.
8. This is what I have now, then all the other combinations below, got me to this point, it was fun. For me, the ultimate rig changing pres and cabs, Glock 2x12 not pictured.
9.
I agree that a 'single' cab is going to struggle but certainly a pair are a viable option... I manage very nicely, thank you!
John speaka da truth, now a 2x12" would kick it.
10. A 1x12" speaker cab for rock?
11.
oh, i thought it was deeper than that yeah i see the resemblence
I'm a simple soul.
12.
Me @ Bass Day!
A young Jean Reno.
13.
yeah that kinda confused me too?
My avatar is a Pic of Sgt Pinback from the film Dark Star, played by Dan O' Bannon, who I think looks like Tom Jenkinson, Squarepusher. Sigh.
14.
darn...i really was hoping when i saw the new avatar...
I am NOT Dan O'Bannon. AKA Squarepusher.
15. My drummer took this and made me feel a combination of wanting to punch him and wanting to smile, he is a consummate twat.
16. I think you posted that just for the halibut.
17. I like this too and play it also.
18.
19. I use one with a QSC amp into a Glockenklang 2x12 or/and Tech SS 6x10. It gives a very good account of itself but changing the valves is a total pain, as you have to disassemble the whole case. Has yours arrived yet?
20. Pete, you're in one of the best Dan tributes on the planet, don't stress too much, however, learning some theory is worth its weight in gold for that "when the penny drops moment" and it all starts to make sense.
21. Get a nice piece of high density foam from an upholstery or haberdashers shop, to go between amp and cab.
22. Hi Alex it could be the tweeter, broken woofers (speakers) tend to buzz and fart, tweeters/horns crackle, as the can burn out more easily. Turn off. or fully reduce the level of the tweeter and try again, so you can ommit this option. Steve.
23. Gorgeous, love it. Mike Watt to the max. \m/.
24.
You get a nice MM Stingray. Two, actually: fretted and fretless. Seriously, no love for the 'Ray? To me, there are three basic rock bass sounds: Precision, Jazz and Stingray. You're one down, Mr B.
AHPLUSONEAH.
