1.
Did they screw you over?
Yes Sir they did indeed. I ordered it in October and they said they couldn't give me a delivery date until November, so I arranged for it to be dropped in the week of my hols, rang them on Saturday and they said it would be delivered yesterday between 12 and 6. Wasted an entire day and this morning and they didn't have the decency to ring me and offer a refund but as I have posted else where, it is the staff who will loose their jobs I feel really sorry for, I'm sure I can get a refund from the credit card or the furniture ombudsman.
2. I can pick it up tomorrow, (always fancied one of those Warwick basses), I'm kidding. Looks like it will be a happy ending. I lost an oven today, Shockwave, can you get my oven back from MFI ?
3. Excuse me but why hasn't this bass sold for that price yet?
4. Misc section here too, keep it in the family (ding ding ding, ding, ding, ding). Times are hard and if we can help each other out by buying other peoples old sh*te then I'm ok with that.
5. Shockwave, where are you?
6. I've been trying to look for the bassist who plays with gloves on and sounds ok, jazz dude, maybe a Fodera player but I can't remember his name. Stainless strings and as Shockwave says, stainless frets may help. Barrier cream will be a nightmare, I had a bad cut on my finger once and had to use a special cream, it f***ed my strings and made the wound worse. I know it sounds patronising but wash your hands straight after you have played.
7. Refer to the OP. The Guy was talking about earning a crust 'Playing'..pure PLAYING! Why do you shout so much? The world makes me feel ARGH! nearly every day, so try a little tenderness.
8. Life is a journey, and the walls are not lined with steel clad guarantees, your average adult has to make decisions that will have to provide the best solutions to their dilemas, it's called being savvy. You seem to think that there is some shame in deviating from being a total, pure musician and not making 100% of your living from it. I have had many jobs and have had some rough times but the one thing that keeps me golden is music. Life is great and we are only here for a very short time, we need to leave a lasting impression of art, love and togetherness, constant negitivity can only slow this down.
9.
Again +1 to the Shure SM58, its the industry vocal mic, especially for live events, its cheap, got a frequency response to flatter most vocals and dam hard to break
If you don't own your own and have them supplied by the house, on no account should you sniff them, 10 years of rancid saliva doesn't smell too pretty.
10. Argh, have you considered councilling, it worked a treat for me, seriously.
11. That's extremely smart, good luck with the sale.
12.
How are you getting on with the Bergie? Have you tried the 1x12's?
The Berg has sadly left the building. The real nut-twister was that after I confirmed the deal, the missus turns round and says that she really liked the sound and that I didn't have to sell it to be able to get the other stuff. The Berg was a wonderful sounding amp/cab, really superb. I've heard the IP112 and that was nice but for me the tens sounded better.
13. Maybe you could pick up an amp that isn't working, say one of the cheapies off Ebay and rebuild it, that way you don't have to lay out for all the components for a complete amp and you will get the amp for next to nothing and gain valuable experience.
14. I think this may be one of Alans finest yet. I can't wait to see some lacquer on it.
15. Does the bridge one have a F on it? Can you post pics?
16. Love the basses but the Ric melts my butter shame it's not a lefty or I would be dodging Mersey trouts to come over to yours and have a fiddle.
17.
Thanks BB, Clauster, Mottlefeeder. Highly appreciated! The Streamers actually in pretty good nic, for its age. No dings, scratches, except a lil' thumb rash you get above the PU, it doesn't feel grubby atm. I this is advice in advance. I think with this one the neck is all wenge  and the fretboard are as one (I see no seam-line to indicate its two parts, or maybe I have bad eyes... So if this the case, maybe it means oil all for neck 'n' fretboard? Here's a pic of it, try and get a side view if poss. And heres the body, I didn't realise colron did a wax polish, only finish? Peter P.S. Oh yeah, this bass totally OWNS..
Looks like Cherry body and stringers.
18. Plus one for the QSC amps. I have a QSC PLX 3102, 3100 watts at 4 ohms, dead light and the bottom end that my cabs put out is a joy because of the massive headroom. The fan is also the quietest I've heard on any amp and you can pick them up second hand for a resonable amount. As Fraktel said they are a safe bet to use with any cabs.
19. Do you have a music lawyer? Have you given this person the intellectual rights to your music. Say if one of your bass lines was to be used on a video game or sampled into a huge hit or used in a TV campaign, what sort of deal do you have with this person. I think £1000 for 10 tracks is a good deal for the guy in the US.
20. Plasy covers and a serial number written in tipex, for that money it sounds like a P or J bass, one for a "merchant banker" with a bulging portfolio me thinks.
21.
It's sycamore - recovered from a skip in leeds, apparently (quite unique even for Wal). Another pic: Purchased 1983 and modified by the Wal guys in High Wycombe around '93 with a completely new Fender style body. The original neck was shaved down to Fender Jazz proportions -very slim and even narrower at the nut than a Jazz bass. The neck sits into the body deeper than the regular model also on request. Contouring on the back of the body and the top is very shapely and very severe - so the bass weighs a lot less than a regular Wal. It used to look like this way back in '87 before all the changes:
Mr Hopper, you completely blew my mind when I first heard "Quirk Out", so great to see you again.
22. Here's a lovely bass for a great price and a good way to own an ACG (Greenekings I think). http://www.thebassgallery.com/acg5.html
23. That rig isn't pissing me off, in fact I have just felt a small release of baby gravy in my lounge pants.
24. I say, we should have a Basschat "Top Trumps" for amps, basses and other stuff and as the first player I'll start by putting my GremlinAndy bass rig card down. That has got to be the sickest rig on here.
25.
It would probably look best with the disconnected pots left in the holes?
yep
