100% old skool. BTW: love the HH rig - used to use a bass machine head, fantastic !!!!
Where did you get that bass from, is it another parts jobbie? The whole rig is F.A.F. (Funky As f***).
Yup - lost my copy when Mrs Shaggy made me sell all my vinyl (300 albums) at car boot sales pre-move - must get the CD! Simple, driving, melodic playing from Lemmy.
She made you sell your vinyl? A sad day in a 30-40 something man's life. Mrs Steve celebrates my 12".

One Comfort Strapp, (thank you Alan Cringean) and three posh leather Fender jobbies, (thank you 6stringbassist) which are lovely and will wear nicely over the years. I used a cheap white leather one for years until I lost it and I had a beautiful buck-skin Musicman strap, that went the same way (nearly left a keyboard stand and my Comfort Strapp at a gig last week).

What power amp to use wt/ Ampeg SVP PRO?
steve-soar replied to Break Neck Speed's topic in Amps and Cabs
Crown XTi 1000, you can get them secondhand for about £250, 1400w into 4 ohms. Get as much power as you can so you can have plenty of clean headroom which will give you tighter bass and big dynamics. Someone on here is selling a Crown XTi 1000. -
Here's one - I would like to have a bass where the body is straight and the neck angles up 40 degrees. That would give me my ideal playing position as bass horizontal or bass up at an angle are compromises to me. Don't believe that this is possible unless some kind of midi device is used as you couldn't change the direction of the strings part of their way along without touching them which would result in the same sound being played regardless of where you put your left hand. I would also like to see a 5 string bass using a 4 string neck. I made one myself a few years ago using a Rick copy (it was dead when I got it). Extra machinehead hole drilled, EMG 35 pickup and Kahler adjustable bridge. Would be good to have one made properly. You get 'wide necks' so why not 'narrow necks'? I don't think that there will be as great a jump as what Leo did. From doghouse to electric was one of the best inventions in music alongside multi-track recording and others. There could be improvements such as some way to go digital like everything else has (recording, amps, etc) Unless there becomes an easier way to play it involving some kind of telepathic device then I can't see such a huge change. And anyway, where's the fun in something you don't actually touch to play?
You mean this?

Been doing a bit of soldering Kev? Good man. What is the red pedal?

If I'm correct, Glock use Volt speakers made to their own specs and a Foster tweeter. The crossover is a thing to behold, beautifully made with the best components. Save a little extra and get a Glock secondhand as you will struggle to make your money back on a self-build, if you decide to move it on.
My wife stopped the eBay auction. The plan was to sell the Tyler as I've bought a used Taylor GS acoustic as my music is using a lot of 6 string acoustic. The funds would cover the cost of the GS and the leftover would be to good use. However. whilst I was asleep this afternoon, my wife stopped the auction determined that I should not have to sell a bass which meant so much to me and which I probably would not be able to replace due to it's rarity. To be honest, I've felt quite humbled by this especially as it makes money a little tighter. Jen (my wife) didn't see it that way and so I have both the Tyler and a Taylor. I definately married the right girl.
My Wife is the same, one in a million. Billion.
Do you need any other reason, Steve?? I know what you mean - I'm looking at a high-end jazz of some sort at the moment & I know I'll be questioning myself when the time comes to hand over another serious amount of money, "Why aren't you spending this money on a Status??!" Rich.
Hi Rich, why don't you get a Retroactive Jazz? Some nice ones on the stock page.

Marcus, listen, your Dad is on board for getting a Mark II, otherwise he wouldn't have been photoed with you and the bass. If you really want the lights, sell your Jazz and Beatle bass and put the dosh towards it, that way it will show the parentals that you are serious. My god, a Jaydee and a Status at 18, what is the world comming to?

This thread needs to be closed down for the sake of my arse pocket. Candy-Apple Red, 18mm string spacing, Bend Well, black hardware, this is going to be my mantra for the next few months. Thinking of how to tell Wifelet why I need to own this bass. Cause it's a Status, that's why.

EMG's and a J Retro, that's what I've got in my Jazz and it sounds fat, nasty, deep and positively evil.

50 % deposit, the rest on completion.

I think the good Doctor was going through the Mark Bass rig.

Get a Squier Jazz and rough it, Let your fingers do the talking. Tone comes from the heart. Seriously, buy the cheepest Jazz you can find, tweek it, then put it through a big amp and you will have the "Blondie" tone.

£2594, or £2000 without the fairy lights. Will you use the bend well? Stanley Clarke and Mark King didn't have them back in the day and still did amazing harmonic bends and do you like the 16.5mm spacing compared to the Jaydee? I want one with 18mm spacing, no bling and a solid old school Fender colour, so mine will come in at £1900, I'm gonna order mine next year, I love the shape and the Jazz pups. I've always wanted a Status and this is the one I now want but the body IMHO is too big for all that exotic timber so a cool solid colour, maybe black, mmmm. (strokes imaginary beard). How would yours look?

Get a Mark II version, if you settle for the Mark I you will only have to shift it on for a Mark II. I personally wouldn't bother with the led's as I think they are Mark King's own look and that'll save you £600. I'd like an ash one in Sonic Blue or Candy Apple Red. I prefer this bass to the old one.
