recent update of Windows may have messed up USB connectivity, mine now keeps giving me 'the last usb device connected has failed message', however the last device I connected (more than once) was my iPhone and I was able to access it no problem through explorer and upload pics from the phone, and it charged just fine, it's no longer connected but I am still getting the message pop up a couple of times a day - it's possible one of the older USB devices plugged in permanently like the bluetooth dongle or wireless mouse dongle are causing the message but everything appears to be working fine and Windows doesn't identify the device concerned so the message is pretty meaningless and there's nothing I can do to stop the message short of rooting through devices and drivers which I can't be bothered to do Doesn't help you Stew, just a FYI....I haven't googled the fault to see if tehre's anything about it online

Once again I am here giving positive feedback for Lozz who this time sold me a nice complete BT7 D-tuner delivered special delivery, all good, many thanks
-
BT3 is reverse tuner and has rivetted plate; it looks like it may be a special to me Can you spec a D-tuner on a Sandberg custom ? I can't see it on configurator Could probably use a HE6 but it would mean drilling a securing screw hole and it wouldn't match the other tuners but the one on the Ida Nielsen doesn't as closely match the other tuners as most of the other designs do A bit weird if they do it for hers but don't get Hipshot to make them in other finishes for their other basses

The older version of the Phil Jones Double 4 uses 20v d.c laptop like external power supply so running it on suitable rechargeable external battery packs works fine, I get 4 hours run time on my PowerAdd 2300mA battery; 70W compact combo with adjustable aux in, single channel amp with gain and a seperate output volume and the PJB clean sound and space filling projection, with useful bass, mid and treble tone controls, standby and switchable hi and low impedance input to suit passive and active instruments and or pedal boosted input chain I just fix the battery pack to the side of the combo with velcro makes it less than 2cm bigger

A friend of mine has an old industrial building in Bradford which has rehearsal rooms as well as venue space, office space, workshop space and living space, and studio apace; a couple of the rehearsal rooms are rented full time by long established bands so storage as well as creative space. When old buildings were cheap and dividing up the space was also pretty cheap and building regs were less onerous it was a viable income stream but rarely the prime one.

New Sandberg model revealed today: The Florence (now with video demo)

not much choice on the configurator and frell me they are expensive, are they made by elves out of unobtanium in a magic castle ? Do you think they will ever make it to an Electra version ? I guess Friday's Bass the World will be all about it -

Jazzbass, under £400...the hard bit - under 8.5lbs!
Aidan63 replied to Raslee's topic in Bass Guitars
I have a nos Squier VM77 bas that I am pretty sure is 8.5lb but I am still recovering from Covid and not able to lay my hands on it and weigh it today, one of these.... image link -
you can borrow my hosco set, I'm not that far from you

the pickup looks genuinely too small for the string spacing and the pickup position, like they designed it (or bought it in from someone) as a neck pickup for a short scale (like the Epi Newport) and then stuck it in the P position on a long scale
-
So someone bought it, spent money on new strings and new pickguard etc.. and is selling after a week or so for less than retail...even if you were in the trade and got it cost that does not make any sense to me, unless after investing time and money it is still a dog or sounds rubbish

do the holes under the scratchplate go through to the back or are they blind ?

fair price ? 99p start auction on Ebay and let it run and it sells for what the market will pay that day, occasionally someone gets a bargain, but mostly they sell for a fair and fairly consistent price; I think people are a bit optimistic about the worth of second hand instruments that have had a life and come with no return, no cooling off period, no warranty - and often they won't post; the online shops sell new, with shipping and warranty and return policies, and there are thousands of new instruments being sold every week in this country, and some of the new stuff is very good value for money. There's usually 1000 used basses for sale on Ebay and Reverb platforms with some sort of consumer protection, plus many more for sale of FB etc... The good stuff generally gets held onto and played, a lot of stuff just changes hands often on the basis of buying 2nd hand to try something different and 'you won't loose much' which is a mantra repeated on here a lot to newbies. The stuff that has sold of the 196 listed was almost I think without exception priced lower than most would ask for the same instruments, being sold to be played not to appreciate in value. I know shoot the heretic😵

Nordstrand MN4 Mustang pickups have 4 magnets per piece, ie 2 per string; some others do too

750 series in stock at Guitar Guitar £2k, but maybe not the colour you want ? guitar guitar

196 basses listed for sale on here in January, is that a record ? A tightening of the belt collectively ? A realisation 'we' bought too freely, egged on by each other 😲 More 5 strings over a grand listed here than on Ebay, this is definitely a place to buy a 5 string, though it's the cheaper ones that sell quickly/generally it seems to me It seems like a few of the prolific posters have gone quiet over the last year too , busier working or playing ? plus ca change
-
String spacing is slightly less on Mustang so I'm not sure how that would effect fitment into a P and how the strings would interact with the pickup, one could probably add a simple overlay to the pickguard to mount them to try it out. It maybe the narrowness of the pickup magnetic field is what makes them sound different.

Ricky's Had His Head Chopped Off.. BOSH..!
Aidan63 replied to Waddo Soqable's topic in Build Diaries
Have a look at twoodfrd's latest video for a good methodology for routing a flat platform using simple bish-bosh bang it up jig to support the router allowing you to 'inch up' on the required depth and maintain a level surface with the minimum of hand tool work -
The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Aidan63 replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Dunlop make/sell a short scale 5 string stainless flatwound set but they are eye wateringly expensive, even more than the Galli strings. The strings Squier fit to the mustang bass have the winding on the post, I reckon maybe just standard scale strings cut down to length after fitting, I do wonder if LaBella and co are overly fussy about windings on the post to be honest, you could try the cheapest set of 5 string flats you can find and see how they go. When I had the J&D short 4 strings, same 762mm scale length I put standard short scale flats/tapes on them which had windings on the post on the E strings at least with no issues that I found, though ymmv
