2.
Well organise one then. We had a successful London and South East bash last year even though I missed it
+1 It's well worth doing.. At the SE Bash last August, I learnt a great deal, had a good laugh and made some good friends too.. plus got to try out loads of great basses and amps. So, I'm definitely going to try to be at the one in Northampton which should be fine provided there's nothing absolutely unmoveable in the family/work diary. Perhaps some of us south coast Basschatters could travel up together?? I can get a bus for £55 per day + petrol that seats 10 people and would still have plenty of room for gear, if anyone's interested.. Nik
 3.
What's the score then? What did Bernie say?
We played phone tag, so am calling him tomorrow morning.. will let you know then!
 4.
I've been noticing people joining BC just to sell gear... Like an Ad would be their first post; this really isn't good. Perhaps people should have to be around for a while before posting Ads? Just a thought... P.S. - reall sorry about this guy ripping you off.
+1 Over to the Mods??? P.S. Just a thought but in light of what's happened here, can't this guy's other For Sale post in the Amps, Cabs & Effects forum be closed?
 5.
The compressor Nick sold me arrived today, not a problem great guy to deal with.
+1 Nick's a great guy to deal with.. Bought a Rack case from him back in December which never arrived.. After 3 weeks of crap, Parcelfarce as Nick so rightly calls them, finally got their heads out of their arse and admitted the item was lost! Without any hesitation, Nick has fully refunded me whilst he seeks full compensation from PF.. An absolute gent and a scholar! Thanks for the excellent communications throughout Pete and good luck with the claim.. BTW, if you need me to back up anything to help with the claim, only too happy to help. Cheers Nik
 6.
Just a bit of feedback for Nik as a Buyer (of sorts)...let me explain. Nik bought a 4u rack case off me in December. Despite Parcelfarce firstly delivering it back to me the next day (a technical error I'm assured) and then losing the case entirely, Nik has been an absolute Gentleman and has the patience of a Saint. Apologies again Nik and thanks for all your understanding and sense of humour!!
"Parcelfarce" Thanks Nick; can definitely say the same on your side too.. Great communications all the way through Parcelfarce's cock-up! Nik
 7. Really good question Hit&Run and some realy good ideas here which I'm going to try out myself in future as I've had this problem on my basses before.. Amazing that such a crucial thing as the way the pick ups sit in the body of the bass, is so badly thought through by a lot of bass manufacturers??
 8.
No prob on the hijack, thanks for all the help. Yep it's a lovely bass and as anyone who's played a Wal fretless knows, they have the most amazing fretless tone because of the Wal electronics. Just listen to Mick Karn in Japan or Dalis Car. I don't really want to sell it, but i think i've only played it twice in 3 years!!
Is that because it's a fretless and you're more of a fretted player?
 9.
A very fair price. This will move. Beautiful Bassy! Nik, as usual, is a first rate classy guy helping out anyone else to place it in good hands!
Hi Mike Definitely - it's a lovely looking bass! Thanks for the kind words but I'm just 'spreading the love' as Owen on this forum described it when he sent me a replacement low B string saddle free of charge for the Roscoe Beck just before Christmas.. And as you know, I've definitely gotta do that where Wals are concerned! The Roscoe is amazing by the way Mike - my main gigging bass now! Hope you're good and I will send you a PM or email to continue the chat.. Sorry to hijack your thread Bassy!
 10. Thanks for the replies folks - I'll give Bernie a call today..
 11.
Might just pop along. Can visit some old friends in Worthing on the way. Might even drag them along too.
Look forward to meeting you then! WalMan's band are great so you'll have a good night....Even though it is Littlehampton
 12. I've not yet met Pete or heard his playing but we've been speaking over the last few days, as he's been on his 'Lakland Mission', which appears to be successfully completed now! We had a really good chat about bass stuff at the weekend and what impressed me most, was just how far Pete is prepared to travel in search of bass 'perfection'! If we had the Basschat equivalent of 'airmiles' - acquired in the pursuit of all things Bass and appeasing the GAS - then I suspect Pete would have enough for a trip to Mars and back by now!
 13.
How about this one....a bit of good feedback for someone without even buying from or selling to them! I missed out on the Lakland DJ5 Nik was selling by a couple of hours. But hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles. But what a guy Nik is......he phoned me the next day to let me know he saw another Lakland up for sale elsewhere on Basschat, just in case I was interested. That is what I call a "diamond geezer" Cheers Nik......oh, and picking it up tomorrow, so many thanks for the call.
Cheers Pete! Just 'speading the love' as Owen said when last December when he sent me a replacement B string saddle free of charge for my Roscoe Beck 5 string! That's what this forum is all about IMHO.. Look forward to hearing all about the JO5 very soon. Enjoy! Nik
 14.
Much appreciated, thanks.
It's now been posted up on the Baddassbassplayers forum as well.. Good news travels fast it would seem!
 15.
Ha ha.....I was actually drinking Lucozade as I read this
First set Tie-Break!!
 16. Hi Folks Just wondering if anyone has one of the EBS pre-amps that Bernie Goodfellow supplies and fits in basses and if so, do you know if the pots can be trimmed in any way to adjust which frequencies are increased/decreased? Hope that makes sense...... Cheers Nik
 17. It's like a game of Basschat tennis!
 18. I've posted a link onto the Walbassesnaturally forum on Yahoo for you; lot of American Wal fans on there constantly looking out for a decent and fairly priced Wal.. Good luck with the sale - it's a beauty!
 19.
Give us a bit more notice next time and I'll bring the boys along.
Cheers John - will do! Hi Clauster - it's The Crown pub in Littlehampton High Street in good ol' West Sussex..

 21.
You want some advice ? That bath robe doesn't really go with the bass. I think you should go for something dark blue/black . Other than that yeah good playing.
+1 Nice chunky sound to the bass too...
 22. Having owned a Spector 5 and an MTD 5 (albeit the cheaper models ) I think they are very difficult to compare to each other - a bit like trying to compare a Fender to a Gibson, for want of a better example. Great in their own right, but a bit like chalk & cheese. With the kind of money you're talking about spending, both would be very high quality basses but you would need to play examples of both of them first to be sure of what you actually prefer. Gwilym's offer of help is really worth taking up if you can. IIRC, the Spectors have narrower string spacing for a start and that makes a huge difference to the feel of a bass..and the MTDs have an asymmetrical neck - again, very different to a Spector.. And that's before you compare anything else like woods, body shape, neck, electronics & pick ups etc, etc.. Good luck with it all - should be a lot of fun!

 24. Yes - my Wal Pro 2e and my Fender Roscoe Beck V and of these two basses, I'd never part with the Wal because they are getting even rarer and rarer to find! However................ the GAS never ends!!
