Might just pop along. Can visit some old friends in Worthing on the way. Might even drag them along too.
Look forward to meeting you then! WalMan's band are great so you'll have a good night....Even though it is Littlehampton

I've not yet met Pete or heard his playing but we've been speaking over the last few days, as he's been on his 'Lakland Mission', which appears to be successfully completed now! We had a really good chat about bass stuff at the weekend and what impressed me most, was just how far Pete is prepared to travel in search of bass 'perfection'! If we had the Basschat equivalent of 'airmiles' - acquired in the pursuit of all things Bass and appeasing the GAS - then I suspect Pete would have enough for a trip to Mars and back by now!
How about this one....a bit of good feedback for someone without even buying from or selling to them! I missed out on the Lakland DJ5 Nik was selling by a couple of hours. But hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles. But what a guy Nik is......he phoned me the next day to let me know he saw another Lakland up for sale elsewhere on Basschat, just in case I was interested. That is what I call a "diamond geezer" Cheers Nik......oh, and picking it up tomorrow, so many thanks for the call.
Cheers Pete! Just 'speading the love' as Owen said when last December when he sent me a replacement B string saddle free of charge for my Roscoe Beck 5 string! That's what this forum is all about IMHO.. Look forward to hearing all about the JO5 very soon. Enjoy! Nik

Hi Folks Just wondering if anyone has one of the EBS pre-amps that Bernie Goodfellow supplies and fits in basses and if so, do you know if the pots can be trimmed in any way to adjust which frequencies are increased/decreased? Hope that makes sense...... Cheers Nik
You want some advice ? That bath robe doesn't really go with the bass. I think you should go for something dark blue/black . Other than that yeah good playing.
+1 Nice chunky sound to the bass too... -
Having owned a Spector 5 and an MTD 5 (albeit the cheaper models ) I think they are very difficult to compare to each other - a bit like trying to compare a Fender to a Gibson, for want of a better example. Great in their own right, but a bit like chalk & cheese. With the kind of money you're talking about spending, both would be very high quality basses but you would need to play examples of both of them first to be sure of what you actually prefer. Gwilym's offer of help is really worth taking up if you can. IIRC, the Spectors have narrower string spacing for a start and that makes a huge difference to the feel of a bass..and the MTDs have an asymmetrical neck - again, very different to a Spector.. And that's before you compare anything else like woods, body shape, neck, electronics & pick ups etc, etc.. Good luck with it all - should be a lot of fun!

Yes - my Wal Pro 2e and my Fender Roscoe Beck V and of these two basses, I'd never part with the Wal because they are getting even rarer and rarer to find! However................ the GAS never ends!!

Best Bass Players of New Romantic Era
I cannot let this pass! Twas none other than the mighty Bruce Thomas, novelist, biographer, dog walker and bass player extraordinaire. To some of us he is the greatest.
Thanks for that! I have to agree, he's a great player and to do that so well in the context of the post-punk era and Costelloe's 3 minute pop classics (that needed to be untarnished by overplaying..) makes him even more 'great' IMHO. -
#SOLD# Musicman SUB5 with John East Active circuit #SOLD#
silverfoxnik replied to WalMan's topic in Basses For Sale
Hi Al, I'm really sorry to see you suffering the GAS so badly now, but if you remember back in August, I did get you to sign a Disclaimer This is a great bass and looks just as good as I remember it (bit of a tug on the old heart strings for a moment looking at the pix..) and the improvements you've made will only have enhanced it! Great B string, plays really nicely and lots of tonal variations available so I'm sure this will find a good home quickly... Which is what we need putting into ASAP to cure this dreaded GAS! Good luck with the sale and have a BUMP on me! Nik -
Well it was actually tonight I made & the Roscoe Beck was sounding niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!! Good gig Nik. Catch up for that pint soon Al
Good to see you last night Al, thanks for coming along with Mrs WalMan and sticking around till the end! I am looking forward to reciprocating the favour and seeing one of your Alibi gigs in February! Will be very interested to see exactly what 5 string you'll be playing then? Just checked my gig list so may see you on Jan 26th at The Crown as I'm not gigging that night Nik
I've got a lovely '76..... beautifully ergonomically designed like my Spectors..... very shapely with a full, tight bottom and just enough top end to attract your attention without dominating the mix. VERY easy on the eye & a pleasure to play.....
Sounds brilliant... I want one of them - where do you get them from??
Here's the video of her playing with Jeff Beck at the Crossroads festival. It has the Stevie Wonder tune that's been around a bit on Talk Bass etc, but also Big Block. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gO7FI_ogvA
Cheers - that was good.. What's that bass she's using - is it a Sadowsky?

After all that sexist 'debate' in the other post about her, what a pleasant surprise to see this video which shows that she can really, really play and has a happy & cool vibe about her..
Cheers Nik, I was uber impressed by your 700RB the other night, I ended up getting the 1001 at a really good price new - Should be here on tuesday and I'll get to put it through its paces on wednesday at practice - I may not need another cab but the rock factor of a big rig on stage is sounding really appealing again, bollocks to my back I'm 22- it's got at least 2 years of lugging an 8x10 around left in it.
That's the Rock 'n' Roll spirit!
Hi Guys- I've got a GK 1001RBII on its way and I've been considering either a) buying another cab to use with my MB 2x10 or selling my MB cab and buying a 4 ohm cab of some description to get the full whack from my new head soo- I do rather like the idea of getting a single GK 410RBH 4ohm Would anyone potentially be interested in taking my excellent MB front ported 2x10 in part ex for a half decent 4 ohm 4x10, 2x15 or 6x10 etc- I'm open to suggestions pics asap- it's an older black and silver model- same spec as the new one but more tasteful ;D imho - excellent condition I'd be looking for at least £300 trade value R
Congrats on acquiring the GK head Russ! Your rig's going to sound amazing with the SR5 HH when it's finished
Nik, If you sell the Lakland and are after a G&L L2500 Tribute, I have a brand new one I would sell. Still got the tags on. Awesome sound, but i am not that keen on the neck. Only had a couple of hours use at home.
Thanks - that's definitely worth considering...What's the spec on yours? "Hey Silverfox...if you get a Tribute, you'll end up flogging that Roscoe Beck too." - Not a chance, Matt!!
