Not exactly a cheap driver at £60 though?

I’m looking for a precision from this era

That has been hacked about quite a bit. “Investment” - LOL. Frets look rather flat too, I wonder how much meat is left? The sellers attitude indicates buying that won’t work out well. -
The standard analogue Rumble 40 schematic shows a 56Hz 2nd order high-pass built in, it would be consistent for the digital version to have something like this if the box/speaker is similar.
-
I always did this in business. There are many clients that conveniently forget/mis-remember what was agreed and CYA was essential with them.

This is why I don't like trying instruments in music shops, that kind of sneery snobby superior attitude is pretty common. (the Bass Centre back in the 80s in Wapping is the honourable exception, they were great)

When I last ordered from dv247 in 2020 the item page said “in stock in romford” and “in stock in central warehouse”, but my items came from the warehouse in Cologne. I was a bit surprised, but I guess it makes sense as the warehouse will be set up for online processing. I wonder if anything ordered online from dv247 comes from the uk?

Small world, I’m from Bishop although I had left to go to college by the early 80s and didn’t go back to live. We always used to drink in the Sportsman at the edge of the market place.

If you really don’t have the tools and knowledge to fix it then you need to get someone to help. I know that is tricky at the moment, but you might get an experienced basschatter near you to pick the bass up (suitably distanced) and do a quick set-up. It probably just needs the neck relief adjusting (via a truss rod tweak) and the bridge saddle height setting to something sensible. If you want to learn how to do it yourself there is a good series of bass setup videos on the elixir strings YouTube channel. It will mean buying some basic tools though.

Hit me with your rhythm schtick....

The best one is Josh Fossgreen on YouTube. Toward the end of the video he plays the whole thing through slowly, that cracked it for me. He links to a transcription on his website too. -
I've think I've just come across the worst 'band' ever

There are an impressive number of layers of badness there. I'll start with the offensive autotune effect on the "vocals". -
Replacement tuners for '95 MIM P Bass. Suggestions?
nilebodgers replied to Peejay's topic in Repairs and Technical
I haven’t actually done it, but Gotoh GB2s have a similar ratio to hipshot hb7s, the same diameter shaft and it looks like the footprint covers the existing holes. Still needs new holes drilling, but should end up neat. Anyone tried them on a Mexican fender to be sure they fit? -
Excellent effort. There is a thread on Talkbass about another DIY pedal version of the Traynor Mono Block 2 (https://www.talkbass.com/threads/traynor-monoblock-ii-preamp-pedal.1235729/), but whoever did that used rotary pots. Respect for taking on the mechanical challenges of using sliders, I'd hesitate as I very much doubt my ability to make slots in a box that didn't look like they were carved out with a spoon.

No pre-shape/contour? Is that to avoid the obvious Trace comparisons?

If you could choose only one bass guitar ...
nilebodgers replied to Happy Jack's topic in Bass Guitars
Buying gear is quick and easy and independent of ability. Actually playing and improving is a different thing entirely. -
The flat heel section is also longer on these necks than a standard fender neck, although I don't think that matters.
-
The problem I have seen with all the cheap chinese guitar necks I have bought (and looking at most ones where detailed dimensions are shown) is that the heel depth is non-standard and too great for "standard" fender body neck pockets. The neck sits very high to the point that the bridge saddles can't go high enough (or are at extremes of adjustment) to make it work with a standard body.

How they look aside, they sound like a bad pub band where no-one was really good enough to sing, but gave it a go regardless.

Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)

Interested to see the compact 10. I’d never build an expensive box because of the resale problem, but sub £100 is fine. -

New EBMM Stingray Special Colours and Prices
nilebodgers replied to Eldon Tyrell's topic in Bass Guitars
It’s funny, I have fancied getting a stingray since the early 80s but they have always been too expensive and I could never bring myself to spend that much. They are still too expensive 40 years later! -
I don’t like owning stuff I’m not using and I’m not very sentimental about gear, so the surplus will be shifted on when I get round to it. I tend to play one bass almost all the time too so I wonder why I keep any more. For amps I have a lightweight 2x10 and a small class D amp and I would always use that for convenience and portability. I also have an old trace combo that needs to go as I don’t have room for it when I lose my warehouse storage on retirement (soon).
