That is bizarre. It’s Mary Spender and Rob Scallon, well known youtube musos in the video.

The 'Talkbass web server issues' thread
nilebodgers replied to donkelley's topic in General Discussion
LOL. I have noticed that whenever I post over there I never get replies, I thought it was just me -
I started out my bass playing journey in the late 70s with a Marshall Super Bass 100. I can't say I miss the weight, size or wondering whether it would work at a gig or just pack up on me with no warning. (or electrocute me on one memorable occasion) I quite like a preamp valve, but I'd not go anywhere near a full valve amp, even a modern one.

I’d still be inclined to have a backup amp with you. PA support is pretty vague, the monitoring could be inadequate or non-existent so having a plan B is wise.

How I turned my £30 P Bass Copy into a Pro Instrument
nilebodgers replied to greghagger's topic in Bass Guitars
Shame it’s so expensive getting a decent neck. I tried buying a unbranded Jazz neck from one of the uk guitar parts suppliers recently, but I had to return it (and also the replacement) as the fretwork was terrible.- 119 replies

What a ripoff. Even the quickest glance at the machine heads shows it isn't a Fender.

Very good and without the horrible whining of the original vocals to boot 👍 -

Any important duty on goods from Europe?
nilebodgers replied to tonyclaret's topic in General Discussion
I was a bit surprised too the first time I ordered from them, the item I ordered was in stock in Romford, but came from Cologne. Has anyone had to do a return yet? That could be a major pain if the item has to go back to the EU. -
Bought a Pro Jazz off Lozz today. Great comms, top dude all round. It was my first ever service station gear deal too, it's all down hill from here... 😀

Gr Bass One 800 Vs Aguilar Tonehammer 500
nilebodgers replied to johnpaulbass's topic in Amps and Cabs
The GR sounded a bit dull to me and the Tonehammer was a bit mid-prominent. Would a bit of an eq tweak on both have sorted them out though? -
Phew, that’s working the low B string hard.

Might be granny+eggs, but worth checking with this: https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/43/outbuildings Probably permitted development if none of the criteria apply and there are no local overrides (conservation areas etc.).

(Now Sold) Fender American Performer Jazz Bass ("Copper Penny")
nilebodgers replied to Studio GC's topic in Basses For Sale
That’s interesting re the rods. It looks like an old-school standard before they added through-body stringing but with a modern reinforced neck. I wonder if they kept it quiet to avoid impacting professional sales? There would be a lot of reasons to not bother with the pro model given the large price difference. -

More pics taken. The pic from the front is powered up so the red LEDs are on and the lit controls are glowing a loverly green 👍 Pic of a driver and horn included pointing my phone through the port - all original Celestion + Fostex. I can now include the flightcase as an optional extra for an additional £25. It's a full touring spec heavy duty 5star case, so very tough and heavy - van users only!

Lol, I do that too. It's not a great technique for hearing the core sound of a demo'd bass.

Getting too comfortable with 16.5 string spacing
nilebodgers replied to adriansmith247's topic in Bass Guitars
This is such a personal thing - I owned an Aria SB700 for many years, but I was never comfortable with the narrow string spacing however much I tried to adapt to it. In contrast, I felt immediately at home on a Fender-spaced bass when I tried one. That's just me though, I'm sure other people have different experiences. -
Trace Elliot 1210H SMX Combo for sale. This is a 1990s model that has the SMX 12-band preamp with valve blend and dual-band compressor. Power amp is the 250-280W Mosfet version. Cab is 4 x 10" with horn and it has a rear slot port which makes the cabinet a little more compact. It is quite heavy though - 49kg I think. Has been serviced and the preamp valve replaced a few years back. All the knobs and sliders are present and condition is very good. It has been hardly used since I got it in around 2003, just stored in a flightcase in my companies warehouse. It sounds huge and punchy, but I'm retiring and downsizing soon so don't want to bring it home and try and get it to my practice space upstairs! It's too heavy to ship, but I can meet up or deliver for petrol money within a reasonable radius of Cambridge when we are allowed out again. The pics aren't great, I can take more if required when I next go to the warehouse. (Note: the flightcase isn't included - I don't own it. If the buyer regularly uses a van it might makes sense and I could see what it would go for (not much probably, may be foc), but the case makes it extremely bulky and heavy so I really wouldn't go there for normal car users. - see later post re. flightcase, I can include it if wanted for a little extra money) REDUCED - now £275.00

I’ve got a GP12SMX 1210H combo in very good condition that I am sticking in the For Sale section next month when I have taken some better pics. That kind of thing?

NBD - Sterling Ray4 Stingray (and pickguard poll?)

White Pearl obv. (My ratty black jazz was much improved with a white Pearl scratch plate) That looks surprisingly yuk without a scratch plate. Must be something to do with the colour and body shape.- 61 replies

Lol. That’s why I made my own - tiny die cast box, one pot, one knob, 2 jack sockets.

I played through a Laney......... and I liked it!
nilebodgers replied to Deedee's topic in Amps and Cabs
Enquiring minds want you to take the case lid off and post some pics....👍 (only if you are a curious tinkerer like some of us are of course!) -
I made one of those for my g**tar amp to stick in the fx loop, it was ear-splittingly loud trying to use the drive channel without it.
