1. of course, if you REALLY wanted to lower the action, you could send it off to a certain "Improver" down south!!
2.
What about The Stolen Rones"?
Sorry, but that is rather close to my new band, "The Stollen Rons", a German Oompah band who do 2 Ronnies covers!!
3. very nice - been looking at Cigar Box type instruments myself recently. Looking forward to hearing a soundclip or 2
4.
what concerns me is that this thread is not a joke... My wife doesn't question my basses. I don't question her surfboards. It's called being adult, surely?
Totally. I don't question the amount of yarn/floof/wool she has in the house, nor the fact that she is currently lusting after ANOTHER spinning wheel, and she doesn't question my GAS (nor the fact I am something of a tackle tart when it comes to my angling gear!!). As long as we both have enough to survive on, that is OK.
5.
Not too much different from the pix above but I soooo love this wood i'm gonna bombard you will more photos
Please, feel free to bombard us with the pics of the wood.
6. Think that the only good things on this weeks show (IMNSHO) were OMD and KT Tunstall. Actually really liked John Grant from last weeks show - so much so that I bought the album. Apart from that, the BBC needs shows like ...Later, to save us from the banality that is the top 40!!!
7. Sadly, I am having to sell my Carvin BK4a kit. Have had it for about 5 years and it is still in bits. Neck has been sanded and oiled. Body has been sanded. I did try to dye the body but it went sort of pear shaped and as such the body is a sort of mucky grey. As such, think it will need spraying to finish. It is complete, and in it's original box (instructions too). Am asking £300. pref pick up from Nottingham. Quick sale needed Thanks
8.
That probably highlights what has gone wrong with music recently. Obsession with getting the cleanest most note perfect recording then adding loads of effects to try to make is sound 'real'. When it sounded better left alone in the first place.
+1 from me.
9. ha, started off playing Double Bass at school - was always a bugger getting it on the school bus to take it home for the holidays tho' (and the mile walk from the bus stop to the house was even worse!!). There again, was only taking bass lessons cos the (female) teacher was cute (oh, and I had to get grade V so I didnt have to do the practical bit for 'O' level music).
10. Mmmm, love this. Got me lusting after something in a Candy Purple!!
11. I would say that this is pretty inventive. OK, not as "in your face" as some of the other stuff mentioned, but still pretty inventive when you can hear it in the mix (and nice to hear Mr Deacon venturing up the dusty end!!)
12. When you hear a piece of music for the first time, and only ever listen to the bit you would be playing if you were in the band.
13.
It's the girl with the pink guitar that kills it, the guy with the strat was doing OK, the lack of a drummer is never easy when you are young. Anyway the greatest cover is here
Loved this - and his version of Bohemian Rhapsody has to be seen to be believed - just MAD!!!
14. Would it be Salute Your Solution by The Raconteurs [mediawatch]
15. Would love to go and see them, but at those prices, plus travel, plus overnight accommodation, I dont think so!! Shall I now start the discussion about the price of tickets being re-sold on flea bay??
16. Enthusiasm for music - 96% Musical Perception - 99% Emotional Connection - 100% Social Creativity - 95% Musical Curiosity - 98% [sharedmedia=core:attachments:108134] Then we get to the practical stuff - Oh dear!!! grouping of music - not too brilliant - was convinced that the 4 groupings were Jazz, Classical, Reggae and Rock!! At least I got all of the rock ones right!! Match the Beat - did OK on most of those (as has been said previously, how "off the beat" could things be but still be on the beat?? Tap to the Beat - Did well on this, mostly (I say mostly as I sort of got bored after a couple, improvised, and put in some runs and fills where I felt the music needed them!!) Melody Memory - 8 out of 12 - not bad!!
17. Two come along at once. Carvin V440 No 1 V440 No 2 Love those '80's shapes
18. Brilliiant intro music It's available from HERE That Mr Godfrey is far too clever!!
19. Seeing as it's sunday, how about a good old Welsh Hymn??
20.
He was blowing on his hands at one point must be cold there. he's a very underated player imo.
Nah, Mani had just forgotten his Harmonica!! Thought Ceelo Green was good, and was nice to hear Morrisey again, even if he was a little low in the mix.
21. Just found this Westone Thunder 1 on the bay. Looks like it needs a little work, but a cracking bass, esp for a beginner.
