  1. Deal off as bass was literally rotten as had been stored in leaking shed. Ho hum. Next!!!
  2. OK, looking at things, I think the "Total update/Replace all" option would be fairly cost prohibitive for the amount that I want to spend on the bass in the first place - to be honest it was always going to be a final option. It`s probably going to be the same for the first option too; I say probably as I`m still trying to find out about availability & cost of original parts for replacement. So, it looks like #2 is the route that I`ll be going, if anything needs to be done at all.
  3. Hi all Right, I`m looking at buying a second hand bass at the moment (not saying what in case it falls through!!). Obviously, as it`s the best part of 20+ years old it`s going to need some work done to bring it up to scratch. As far as I can see, the 3 options are 1) Renovation; Bass is stripped down and taken back to the condition it was the day it left the factory using, wherever possible, original or original specification hardware. 2) Overhaul; Everything is checked and if it needs replacing, then new hardware installed 3) Total update; Everything that can get replaced IS replaced with brand new state of the art stuff. Any of the above would be carried out in conjunction with a full body overhaul. Anybody have any thoughts on the above? Mark
  4. WMSheep - a drifter through life. Played Double bass for a number of years before giving it up when he realised that it wouldnt fit into his first car without removing the roof. Now aged 40 something, he has decided to try to relive his lost gigging years by taking up the bass again, this time moving from something vertical to something horizontal. Currently waiting to get a job to pay for his first bass. Believes himself to be a major Deity, as all he ever hears down the pub on his arrival is "Oh God, not you again!!" Likes other people to buy the beer.
