  1. Many thanks to you both! I'll message tomorrow once I have some more details. Thank again
  2. It's not confirmed yet, but we'd be flying to Belfast International, likely staying fairly central in town I think.
  3. Hi all, Our singer is a bridesmaid at a wedding in late June and has been asked if we would go over and do a set for expenses only. It'd be a flight from Bristol for the other 3 band members plus van hire, kit hire and airbnb. Any tips for equipment and transport other than Bairds music hire I found online? Cheers!
  4. Should it be of use for those wanting a synthy type fuzz: I've put the Clawthorn Drive in separate path to rest of chain, gain 1.7, tone to taste and put it at around 30% blend using the mixer at end of chain. Great for doing poppy covers that require it without sounding too gritty / metally.
  5. Received some neck shims in the post - completely free - from Tony, much appreciated!
  6. I'd be interested in getting a slim shim piece also!
  7. On the slight chance you have a short scale, I have a brand new set of regular scale NYXLs where I had a senior moment and trimmed the G string an inch too short, hence being suitable for a shorter bass.
  8. Might you want to sell the amp separately?
  9. As above, the feeling and groove is more important than the finer detail I think, unless it's a tribute band where authenticity is key. Significant fills recognisable by Joe public should be prominent, but not slavishly so. I've seen many function bands trying to sound exactly like the original, changing their sounds entirely between songs, and it tends to be rather chintzy. Ty Segall knows how to do a good cover: rocky, fuzzy, keeping a distinctive riff but making the song his own:
  10. Oh my word. The last photo suggests he's a full speed Walter Mitty character who turns up to Remembrance parades wearing medals he bought on eBay. They do indeed walk among us.
  11. This does chime with my very limited experience switching between pre and post valve power section on my old amp to see what the power section offered. The inevitable question is, given how we have got behind modellers such as the HX Stomp, is "what is a suitable power amp to go for?"
  12. This Sunday 10am - 4pm near Taunton, £10 to cover food etc, details on the topic page:
  13. Will this thing of desire be making an appearance at the SW Bass Bash...?
  14. It is! Not in pristine condition by any means, plays very well though. Brand new excessively zingy roundwounds on which I'm trying to wear in. Might put some flats on it.
  15. I'm definitely in! I guess sit's just a case of bringing stuff people might want to try? I'll come with my Fender 80's Jazz Special, MB500 (if not sold), HX Stomp and Vanderkley 210MNT.
  16. Great cabs at a decent price. Well worth a trip beyond the Carrot Curtain to pick these up. Best of luck!
  17. Keen to hear opinions as I'm looking at getting a hybrid amp.
  18. There are others on here with more gigging experience using a VK cab, but from my one evening with a 210 and amp not even halfway up, I'd say 'yes'.
  19. +1 for this. I bought two for a discount and am in dire need to give them both a run, but the single 210 MNT I used at a pub gig was clear as a bell (with 500W SS amp).
  20. ------------- SOLD ------------------ Evening all, I acquired this not too long ago as a back up to my all-valve beast. The latter is now sold so this is not essential anymore. I don't think this needs much of a spiel; it's a GK. It does THAT sound very well and is extremely well built. There's a wee bit of marking on the top where items have been placed on it but it's in good nick aside from that. If anyone requires a photo of the amp guts then let me know. It comes with the snazzy GK case. It would make a lovely handbag if you're stuck for choice on your wife's next birthday. Tell her "GK is the new Prada" or something, you never know... Also included is the power cord, footswitch and cable.
  21. Seeing as musicians spend a small fortune on kit, I think it's the least a singer can do to have their own decent mic and stand.
  22. It'd be a shame to split this up. A touch on the heavy side for me; that'll be the electronics and slab body I guess.
  23. This is definitely in the category of "probably shouldn't have sold mine". I had one potential buyer (not on BC) be rather sniffy about it only being Mexican made at that price. He clearly didn't know what he was looking at; these are great instruments.
  24. Yes, I had a seller who had a wrap on the knuckles from FeeBay for sending his address. In the House of Cards-like refrain "you may say that, I couldn't possibly comment", you could send a photo with a phone number hidden on a bit of paper by the instrument (not too obvious of course).
  25. Much obliged, thank you! Not 100% but am keen; will update 🙂
