  1. Just received a bass from Mike: great instrument, exactly as described, well packed and he communicated at every stage to ensure it arrived safely. Another smooth BC sale, thanks Mike, Al
  2. Resistance is sometimes higher in the bridge pup to account for lower string vibration being closer to a fixed point (the bridge).
  3. Got these for 21 quid a while back - the big one can fit in the HX Stomp plus cabling etc. I use the small one for guitar tools, really useful. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Accessories-Electronics-Organiser-Chargers-Powerbank-Black/dp/B014QV4POK/ref=pd_sbs_421_1/259-6684782-8513845?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B014QV4POK&pd_rd_r=d0dff9ab-a21f-4db8-ac4e-82938b29dce3&pd_rd_w=MWb9e&pd_rd_wg=pymRq&pf_rd_p=7f9048ad-9bda-4493-8578-13e4eff8da65&pf_rd_r=4K7AK14JGY9ZG13VH2HH&psc=1&refRID=4K7AK14JGY9ZG13VH2HH
  4. I'm talking about the Straight Ahead amp, not the GSS. Makes sense to look at US power amps if the OP lives there.
  5. Straight Ahead power amp. The guy who makes them is based in New York. Small, powerful and transparent, plus very reasonably priced if you're in the US.
  6. following with interest. after seeing this I'm keen to get a custom build done with the Degenerates
  7. That Ashdown looks pretty neat I must say. I'd consider the new EBS Valvedrive also - I think someone on BC has one actually. Ref the Shift Line: I had one briefly and sent it back. Really wasn't impressed with it. Everyone has their own needs, of course, but I didn't find it versatile at all.
  8. There are a few mentions of the older version online it seems, but this is the newer model. Very happy!
  9. Greetings all! In quest to find a lightweight, public transport-friendly amp for rehearsals and small gigs, I took a chance on sourcing one of these from the US. Spec as below (with measurements obviously put into metric): 12.7 x 17.8cm 0.7kg 500 watts @ 4 ohms, 300 watts @ 8 ohms. THD less than .1%. Full array of protections built in against shorted output, over temperature, DC fault (for speaker protection), over/under supply voltage etc. Tonally transparent with no unwanted coloration. Not sure how much depth one can go into for such things, not being a power amp aficionado, but this really does do what you need it do. Very quiet (aside from some fan noise discernible up close) and bloody loud. The fact that it's tiny and light is a big bonus too. Photos above my amp give an idea of scale; If my hefty valve amp had feelings, it'd be a wee bit anxious about its place in the pecking order right now.... I bought this after enquiring on Jay's Facebook page; even after postage and customs this came in at around £265. There may be other similar products for less money but lower power (TC Electronics) or bigger, more powerful items (GSS Baby Sumo) but this really does do the job for something you can have in a studio or slipped into your gig bag. Please do send a message if you'd like to know more. https://www.facebook.com/straightaheadamp/
  10. Bought a cab from this fine gentleman; good comms and helpful throughout. Now reunited with the same model of kit I foolishly let go of last year. Thank you!
  11. Now £130 Hello all! I bought as a spare to leave with a friend in France, but I really only use P Basses now, so this is up for grabs. It includes a basic gig bag. I would consider trades plus cash for higher valued P Basses. Vintage are a British brand (manufactured in the Far East) who have a good rep in the press and on BC for instruments that punch way above their price point. Specs: Body: Alder (although some reselling sites state it is Poplar) Scratchplate: 3-ply Tortoise Shell Neck Hard Maple – Bolt On Frets 20 Top Nut: White graphite Nut Width: 42.5mm Machine Heads: Wilkinson® WJBL200 Pickups 1 Wilkinson® PB (M) WJB00 (B) WJB800 Weight: 4.3kg There are a few nicks and dinks which I have tried to capture as best as possible in the photographs. It plays very well, setup to 2mm action and is strung with some used D'Addario NYXL roundwounds; I can swap for some lightly used Rotosound Flats if preferred. No-commitment trials and a brew in Bristol are most welcome. I can post at buyer's expense and risk (£10-15 estimated).
  12. It's not the most well-laid out site.... Best to email him and can then let you know the price inc postage. It'll have to be paid in Polish zloty so I'd suggest using Transferwise if you went ahead with it.
  13. From seeing them in a Birmingham pub venue back in 2013, they've come a long way! Their performance at Brixton academy in 2015 (I think) was one of the most stunning shows I've ever seen; it still makes my hair stand on end when I hear the second album. There's a DVD of the performance - worth a watch if you're into that sort of thing.
  14. Surprised no-one has mentioned Vintage brand stuff....
  15. @Cuzzie has the '58 Bareknuckle P in one of his creations; I tried it briefly and I liked it very much.
  16. Regarding the new HX Stomp first hour: Make sure it has v2.8 installed. You'll need to create a Line6 account, get the updater etc. A faff but worth it. Try one of the presets and experiment with one of the SVT amps. There's much fiddling to be done, so be patient! Have a look on Facebook for Jon Willis and his page (Dr Tone I think it's called?). Heaps of clips, advice, presets etc that help to make sense of it. Regarding the Kemper, their amps are pretty good for bass: the not numerous but a fair amount to play with...
  17. Sold my spare cab to Al last week; great comms, quick payment and a pleasure to deal with. Enjoy the VK!
  18. Crikey, don't know how I managed that. Rectified, thank you!
  19. SOLD Hi all, I acquired this some months ago from here for a tribute project which has since fallen through, so I'm back to using my P/J predominantly. These sit alongside Tokai and Greco for beating Fender at their own game in the 80s; good build quality and value means these punch well above their price. Nut: 42.4mm Weight: 4.1 kg depth at 1st fret (from fingerboard): 19.7mm See a demo here of the same model: I've tried to capture the dinks and imperfections as best as I can - please do ask if you would like to see more. I'd be happy to do a video walk-through if you decide to buy remotely. . All original hardware and electronics, frets in very good condition (re-dressed I think). Fitted with worn-in (but not worn-out) D'addario NYXL strings. Action is a pleasant 2mm which is great if you play with a fairly light touch, and has that rasp if you dig in. The case is an old, compact hard case with a busted lock (other latches work fine) - ideal for transporting or postage. No offers thanks; I'm not skint and am more than happy to keep hold of this as my go-to 'function band' instrument Possible trades for the following with cash either way: - decent rosewood Jazz neck (P as long as it isn't too deep) - non-reverse T Bird / T bird clone - P bass - NOT sunburst, with maple neck if possible. No-commitment tryouts in Bristol most welcome! Thanks
  20. SOLD Hi all, I have two of these and the second is somewhat superfluous for what I'm doing. Lots of praise and chat about these on this site, details on the Bassdirect site here: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/MNT210.html RRP with cover is £715 new. In very good condition, bit of minor scratching on the plastic corners as you'd expect. Not seeking trades, but the right P bass wafted under my nose might interest me... Postage is possible but I'd prefer collection from Bristol (and no-commitment tryout if you would like). Thanks for looking.
