So heavy, the sheer gravity of the rig prevented you from taking a photo?! Come on man, you knows the rules - pics or it didn’t happen!

They do fit together, albeit a little loosely. Basically I made a bitsa, nearly finished it, then came to the realization that my skills did not meet my expectations, so I decided to sell it. With a little work, it could probably be a really nice instrument. Unfortunately I am not the one to complete it!!! My finish probably needs to be started again.

Gold anodized aluminum scratch plates and fitting pickups

Only gone and ordered another set for my bitsa! -
Here’s an excellent quality Ki0gon loom, attached to a three hole tele-bass chrome plate. Wired V/V on the stacked knob, with tone on its own (I can’t remember why I spec’d it in such an unusual layout!) Quality wiring/pots/Jack, and screw terminals so you don’t have to solder a thing! Priced for the loom, with plate and postage free!

Might have been your positive words on them that made my mind up to try them @Lozz196! -
Gold anodized aluminum scratch plates and fitting pickups

The Toneriders arrived just now. They fit! And my oh my, they sound gooood!!! Perfectly balanced sonic spectrum. Warm, articulate. I’m a convert, and I now have the perfect bass. The end. -
I’m no woodworker, but 1.5” is already a suitable body thickness. 3” would be huge and heavy!

I know gold anodized plates can be divisive, so just to say I already have one, and I very much like it! I bought it for my JV P (maple board, sunburst - classic). Also on my JV P were some Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, but they don’t fit the aesthetic, and are a bit too “in yer face” (esp with the maple board), so I decided to swap them over with my bitsa pups, as I reasoned that they would sit better in a rosewood-boarded instrument. Thank goodness for @KiOgon looms! However, I can’t get the (temporary) squire pups that were in my bitsa in to the pup cutouts on the scratchplate. The corners of the pup corners seem to be too sharp/square. I’ve placed an order for some Tonerider pickups, and I’m really hoping they fit as-is - I really don’t want to start filing the plate. Anyone else had issues with different pups in an anodized plate?

He’s a bass player with a Fender endorsement deal. I think...

Some of those tones are well nice. Lovely colour, too.

I love a high quality bitsa - nice one 👍🏻

My local tech advised against it for my Peterson, but it’s almost as old as me. Conversely, the little Ampeg PF valve amps are ok with no speakers.

The Hoff’s just built a house down the Mumbles, Swansea! Love the Hoff!

Wasn’t happy with the pickups (£12 off eBay - who could have predicted?), not happy with the finish on the neck, neck pocket, the fact that it’s not a Jaguar 😂 I had my eye on something else in the classifieds too, so selling some bits including this. Thought it would be more worthwhile as parts than as an unfinished project. Onwards and upwards!!

Update: My mediocre skills don’t match up to my high quality control expectations, so this is now being parted out! Head over to the classifieds to find the bones of your next build 😂

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash - Now Sunday 19th September 2021

My prediction I this winter will be terrible, but it will subside by spring. Then reappear in time for autumn. -
This has been slightly messed with during my “bitsa” build, so not a perfect switcheroo if you broke your old one. Perfect for a little tinkering on your own project though!!! Originally a PJ, slightly altered to accept cheap toaster pickups that didn’t work out. Have a look at the pictures- any questions then please fire away! POSTAGE £5 NOW INCLUDES FREE NECK!!! Pics of the neck here:

My lovely bitsa will be in the classifieds shortly, dagnammit. Only so I can fund something else though!

I have my eye on a lovely bass here in the classifieds, so I’m reluctantly letting this beauty go. If that sells before this one though, it’ll stay put! Offered for your consideration is my lovely Hohner ‘The Jack’ through-neck four string headless, modified with a passive Ki0gon loom, wired VVT. Comes with a hard case. The active circuit is known to be a bit “meh” on these, so I wasn’t too sad when I accidentally broke it. I fitted the passive Ki0gon loom and now sounds so lovely and clear - really opened up the EMG pickups. There are a few dings consummate with age. The neck appears to have been rubbed back to a satin finish by a previous owner. Slim and fast, 24 frets. All in all, a beautifully ergonomic instrument that sits perfectly on a strap and feels comfy as your favourite slippers. I’m looking for £325 posted (UK only, anywhere else will be extra)

I guess in the old old days no one used pop shields and moved a bit to keep levels steady. Maybe it is unnecessary with modern technology. I do cringe when I see people imitating mic technique. I suppose there’s many ways to skin a cat.
