  1. He’s a bass player with a Fender endorsement deal. I think...
  2. Some of those tones are well nice. Lovely colour, too.
  3. I love a high quality bitsa - nice one 👍🏻
  4. My local tech advised against it for my Peterson, but it’s almost as old as me. Conversely, the little Ampeg PF valve amps are ok with no speakers.
  5. The Hoff’s just built a house down the Mumbles, Swansea! Love the Hoff!
  6. Wasn’t happy with the pickups (£12 off eBay - who could have predicted?), not happy with the finish on the neck, neck pocket, the fact that it’s not a Jaguar 😂 I had my eye on something else in the classifieds too, so selling some bits including this. Thought it would be more worthwhile as parts than as an unfinished project. Onwards and upwards!!
  7. Update: My mediocre skills don’t match up to my high quality control expectations, so this is now being parted out! Head over to the classifieds to find the bones of your next build 😂
  8. Bought for a project I could not complete, so offered up for sale here. Lovely smooth action, silky to the touch, quality items. 14mm or 9/16th” holes needed. £40 inc postage.
  9. My prediction I this winter will be terrible, but it will subside by spring. Then reappear in time for autumn.
  10. This has been slightly messed with during my “bitsa” build, so not a perfect switcheroo if you broke your old one. Perfect for a little tinkering on your own project though!!! Originally a PJ, slightly altered to accept cheap toaster pickups that didn’t work out. Have a look at the pictures- any questions then please fire away! POSTAGE £5 NOW INCLUDES FREE NECK!!! Pics of the neck here:
  11. Bought these for a bass - eBay cheapies. They don’t do bass!!! Should suit a guitar though. £5 plus postage (will look in to that). ** edit - popping these in the Recycling thread **
  12. Unknown brand high mass bridge. Can probably post for under a fiver. Can adjust string spacing, and also accommodate top loading or through body stringing. Nice.
  13. My lovely bitsa will be in the classifieds shortly, dagnammit. Only so I can fund something else though!
  14. I have my eye on a lovely bass here in the classifieds, so I’m reluctantly letting this beauty go. If that sells before this one though, it’ll stay put! Offered for your consideration is my lovely Hohner ‘The Jack’ through-neck four string headless, modified with a passive Ki0gon loom, wired VVT. Comes with a hard case. The active circuit is known to be a bit “meh” on these, so I wasn’t too sad when I accidentally broke it. I fitted the passive Ki0gon loom and now sounds so lovely and clear - really opened up the EMG pickups. There are a few dings consummate with age. The neck appears to have been rubbed back to a satin finish by a previous owner. Slim and fast, 24 frets. All in all, a beautifully ergonomic instrument that sits perfectly on a strap and feels comfy as your favourite slippers. I’m looking for £325 posted (UK only, anywhere else will be extra)
  15. I guess in the old old days no one used pop shields and moved a bit to keep levels steady. Maybe it is unnecessary with modern technology. I do cringe when I see people imitating mic technique. I suppose there’s many ways to skin a cat.
  16. Hello. Assuming the booth is all absorption, you won’t be able to easily match the ambience to your larger space. The human ear is just too sensitive to the differences. If you put some diffusers in the booth, you will be able to hear the size of the room, and I don’t think you’ll like it. With regards to positioning, I’d be inclined to leave the diffusers out completely for now - get a feel for the room with just absorption in the main places (pretty much as per the manufacturer plan). Add the diffusers back in if you feel the room is too dead (which it would be unlikely to be unless it was close to total absorption coverage). Just try amateur opinion 😁
  17. A pop filter is used to guard against plosives. A large blast of air to a microphone (like when you say the ”P” in the word Plosives) makes the diaphragm move too much, giving you a huge signal boost, usually overloading the recording chain and wrecking your recording. Stick your hand in front of your mouth and see what I mean. The pop filter dissipates the plosives energy while allowing the sound through. Singers with proper mic technique normally don’t need one, but most normal people will. I’d say dig the mic out - with careful use it’ll be so much better than the Samson dynamic.
  18. Where’s the Marcus Miller Jazz gone?!
  19. I’m betting it’ll be awesome. Love a Jabba build!!!
  20. They’re giving one away when they get to 10,000 followers on Instagram. Only another 3,140 to go...
  21. That top wood & finish combo is stunning 👍🏻
  22. That is indeed a lovely looking instrument. Whats the deal with those strap locks again? Colour me interested.
  23. That is a lovely colour, too 👍🏻
  24. Is the neck wood though? Like, if the body failed, you could transplant all the bits to a new body? That is a bonkers instrument - I like it!
