  1. Nice job! Wouldn’t removing the now-redundant original machine head screws reduce the headstock weight though? By a tiny amount, but surely worth it after spending good money on the lightest tuners?
  2. That looks great, Dom. Are you going to contour the body, or leave it slab stylee?
  3. This is going to look beautiful! I really love your work, Jabba!!!
  4. And the scratchplate!!
  5. Rockwool will help - pop some pics up and I’ll make some (amateur) suggestions!
  6. There isn’t one, yet... 😂. There is a show us your music spaces one though. I’m interested in your shed as I’m in the process of building one to put all my music gear in.
  7. The Harley Benton Jazz I bought played and sounded ace. Weighed a ton though! Suppose weight isn’t such a consideration for office noodling though. Have you posted your shed in the “Show is your shed” page?
  8. I like that 👍🏻
  9. Nice shape. I’d be tempted to put a modern bridge, tuners & jack socket on it, just for sh*ts and giggles.
  10. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.soundonsound.com/techniques/studio-sos-amplifying-recording-tea-chest-bass%3famp
  11. Grab an old speaker and wire it up to an XLR? Piezo maybe? Or both!
  12. Magnetically fitted plate? Best of both worlds!
  13. That’s bonkers! Imagine that pickup combo with an individual saddle bridge.
  14. A pillow and a baseball bat to take to the courier if the Perspex bass (first pic) arrives scratched?
  15. Woof. That’s lush!
  16. Still own four though!😂😂
  17. This^^. I love tinkering, but my bitsa bass isn’t as good as my JV. I only started it because a mate gave be a Squire with a duff neck. £200 later and it’s pretty good, but I doubt I’d get that back if I sold it. I know this is basschat heresy, but you only really need one bass! (Ducks for cover).
  18. You beat me to it 🤣🤣
  19. I’m loving all the planning visualisations here - looks ace!
  20. I’d be interested next pay day!
  21. Got the black plate yet?
  22. What, no pics?
  23. I won a really nice mic in a competition once - super duper valve jobbie. Sold it, regret selling it. If I won one of these basses, I’d like to think I’ve learned my lesson and keep it forever (unless I didn’t gel with it).
  24. I’ve read wax potting the pickup helps with microphonic shizz. No idea why, or if it’s true, but maybe someone with some actual knowledge might chime in with more detail. In anticipation of that, do you have a picture of the back of the pickup?
